We have the power to stop Barack Obama on healthcare. We have the power to shut him down.
Already, Democrats are recognizing the measure is coming apart at the seams. Nancy says she has the votes, but the markup of the bill in committee keeps getting cancelled.
Tonight, Barack Obama goes on television to complain, beg, and cajole the American people to commit themselves to a system that will decrease our life expectancy, decrease the quality of our healthcare, and increase our deficit to even higher levels than Obama has already caused.
As a distraction, Obama is slugging Jim DeMint for calling the healthcare debate Obama’s “Waterloo.” The problem is, Democrats are admitting to Republicans that Obama does recognize it is his Waterloo moment.
Grassley said he spoke with a Democratic House member last week who shared Obama’s bleak reaction during a private meeting to reports that some factions of House Democrats were lining up to stall or even take down the overhaul unless leaders made major changes.
“Let’s just lay everything on the table,” Grassley said. “A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn’t going to pass if there weren’t some changes made … and the president says, ‘You’re going to destroy my presidency.’ “
The question now, for people like Charles Grassley, is why even bother? Let’s crush the Democrats on this issue.

More like A Bridge Too Far
tankertodd Wednesday, July 22nd at 3:28PM EDT (link)Whether the proposal is a good idea or not (it ISN’T!) it really represents an overreach when we have an economy that is not recovering. Comparing Obama’s proposal to <a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Market_Garden”Operation Market Garden is more apt, as much as I would like to see Obama banished to Elba. Healthcare is the Arnhem bridge, an extreme overreach. We have double digit unemployment in many areas of the country. Now is not the time to radically change the healthcare industry, probably one of the lights in the economy right now. It’s like they want EVERY industry on its butt.

Crush Obama
Swamp_Yankee Wednesday, July 22nd at 3:30PM EDT (link)I agree this is a watermark moment. His number will never be as high as they have been and he is pretty much accomplished squat.
Next summer, Congress will be concerned about their own arses. Next fall, they wont even be in session.
In some form, the Dems hoped to accomplish Universal Health Care, Cap and Tax, Amnesty, Card Check, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell reversal and more l before 2010. Never going to happen. Not even close.
My one quibble is that we should make this Obama’s moment. If we make this a Republican versus Democrat moment, we may galvanize party loyalties and push some wobbly Dems back in line. We can win, but unfortunately, we can’t do it alone. We can smash the Dems with it in 2010 and 2012, but before the vote we probably shouldn’t being throwing stones at the pro-life Democrats and the budget hawk Democrats that we will need to sink this legislation.

"I never had sexual relations with that health care bill"
NeoKong Wednesday, July 22nd at 3:41PM EDT (link)Obama is going to point his finger at America tonight and lie right through his teeth to America tonight as the state run media give him another prime time special to hawk his health deform plan. (no typo)
Are we going to hear all about the mean and evil wapubwicans who are causing pregnant mothers to die in the streets or stories of little sick children whose parents must choose between food and medicine to keep them alive.
Obama and his media cohorts will be absolutely shameless tonight in their dishonesty.
“The President really needed to connect with the people tonight Andrea. Do you think he made the sale…?
Oh absolutely Brian. He hit it out of the park as many Americans who are desperate for health care and the President’s plan support him by 70%. All the polls indicate a very strong backlash against Republicans if they try to deny sick people their medicine.
Andrea…I just don’t get it. Why would Republicans want people to die?
I don’t know Brian. It could be because they don’t care about the poor as much as the President does.
Yes Andrea. He certainly does.”
The people have already heard about what is in his bill and they want nothing to do with it.

it scares me
Brian Johnson Wednesday, July 22nd at 4:00PM EDT (link)I’m seeing the president of my country literally become unhinged. He’s made a lot of promises, he’s backtracked or “corrected” himself on his issues (”no, no, no, the stimulus wasn’t meant to spur economic growth, it’s a 2-year plan that’s working as expected”), and right now he’s weak and vulnerable. The GOP and we the people need to continue holding his and the Dem’s feet to the fire on this and make those who think any part of this is a good idea know that any public plan will destroy our economy and our freedom. I’m encouraged by the clips I’ve heard (barring the “birthers”
) from the various town meetings where Americans are rightfully angry and making their voices heard.
However, I keep hearing that the fact that Obama and the dems are forced to slow down on this is a good thing. I’ve got to disagree. With Obama & Co. force feeding this and pressing the August deadline, the American people are cautious and tired of hearing him and there are Dems on Capitol Hill that are questioning it.
My fear is, with them slowing this down, it gives those pushing this the opportunity to calculate and revise the bill in such a way that appeals to Dems who are wary and unlikely to vote for it now, and, heaven forbid, they’re able to pull some from our side with some watered down “bi-partisan” version.
It’s a dangerous time right now, and I pray that we who oppose this disaster-in-waiting continue to fight and fight hard till we have none left in us and the idea of government-run health care is a lifeless corpse on the House floor…..

The latest Obama crackdown is taming “an unruly blogosphere” —the next nail in the coffin of the First Amendment through government control and censorship. Obama appoints someone who believes government ought to “gently force people to be better human beings.”
We are now swimming in dangerous waters.
Somebody Remind the Dems We Are Broke
Spartan4Life Wednesday, July 22nd at 4:29PM EDT (link)After this stupid house healthcare bill gets rightfully whacked, maybe the Dems will figure out it IS the economy, STUPIDS!
The American people want to see some economic growth, job creation, and fiscal reponsibility before getting loaded up with a $2T entitlement program.
Their timing is horrid.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we’re going to destroy Obama once for all.

E Pluribus Unum Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:07PM EDT (link)After his Asculum, he saw he did not have the winning hand, and went home with his army to fight another time.
Bambi’s Asculum was Porkulus. He is bogged down with Crap-n-Tax halfway passed, and his political capital has already been drained too far to win with BambiCare.
He’s done. D. O. N. E.
Which doesn’t mean we sit back and watch it happen. It means we rally and overwhelm the whole Democrat Army.

Or is it Borodino? Interesting thought...
Cheetah772 Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:21PM EDT (link)Remember that while Borodino was technically a stalemate, Russian Amry did withdraw to preserve its combat strength, this was the last offensive action Napoleon undertook during his Russian invasion. Unlike Russians, we should and must continue fighting Obama as much as we can.
So, even if Obama does win, he’ll have spent significant portions of political capital to get what he wants, and he won’t have enough left to do anything for a long time. And we all know that even if the bill gets passed, the cost won’t stay at $1 trillion, it will climb and climb, eventually disgusting just about everybody except for Obama and Democrats. That will be his downfall and the end of Democratic Terror regime.
Daniel 2:20 And he [God] changeth the times and seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.

This one is obvious.
OccamsRazor Thursday, July 23rd at 12:59AM EDT (link)This proposed bill will wipe everybody out. Upwards of 103 million people will be forced to take watered down healthcare they really don’t want; and which by it’s very nature is inefficient, and this will affect voters on both sides. If passed, the democrats will outright, point blank OWN the worst economic and legislative decision in history.
As people suffer more and more and have more time living with their parents/siblings while jobless they will have plenty of time to contemplate who is at fault for the distaster…and the democrats know this. If this passes, which I don’t expect it to, they will be bigger fools than I imagined. The fact that this is being framed as BO’s Waterloo in paralell with building momentum against the bill, is outright great fortune. His ego is too big to admit to himself that he’s wrong on anything, so he’s emotionally and personally trapped. He isn’t self reflective enough to wisely retreat for better timing. This may cost him a second term. Course, he’s also caught in the fact that if he’s ineffectual in reality as POTUS, then that also affects his chances of a second term. I’m giddy.
I agree with EPU in the fact that we must not waiver now and not relax. Let’s at worst stop this afront to our very basic of Freedoms and at best overrun the entire democratic army in a rout. Let’s keep up the pressure RedState.

azaeroprof Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:24PM EDT (link)I may be paranoid (please, God, let that be the case!), but I smell a trap here. This has all been set up that the ship is sinking and Obama is going to make one last gasp to right it. His last minute plea will be gloriously worshipped by the lapdog media (see NeoKong’s comment above), some backroom deal will be struck, and just enough “moderate” Dems will come on board. Obama will be declared the SAVIOUR of healthcare.
Please please PLEASE let me be wrong!!

E Pluribus Unum Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:31PM EDT (link)I could not speak to the “ambush” aspect of it (I think Bambi is too proud to willingly give the impression of a weakness, even in subterfuge).
But this deal is dead. It is dead because almost all 535 members of Congress will be going home for a large part of August.

Remember the announcement of Bill Clinton's
Aetius728 Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:34PM EDT (link)political death after HillaryCare among other things? It wasn’t exactly his Waterloo.
I do think that the situation is somewhat different now however. It is unlikely that the economy will improve like it did in the 90’s, and I believe that Obama does not have the political instincts of Bill Clinton is to wedded to liberal ideology to reinvent himself as a centrist.
I think handing him a defeat on healthcare would be extremely gratifying and damaging, not to mention good for the country, but I think that all this talk of the Waterloo of a presidency that is only six months old is a little silly.
The Health Care Bill in not an Undone Deal
alicelouise Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:27PM EDT (link)I’d love to pop the champagne now, but, it is still too early. I agree that Obama does not have the political instincts of Bill Clinton. Some of his staff may have savvy and advise Obama to do what is politically necessary to survive. For Bill Clinton it was sacrificing Democrat majorities in the House and Senate to keep himself in office. The economy upticked in the mid 1990s as well. Obama may not have those fortunate circumstances.
I have read this in other websites. BO seems to be more the turtle on the fence post. He is a true believer, mind you, he’s no kindhearted Tsar who if he just knew what was going on…you know the rest. He is at best book smart. It was not lost on many people that he had 1 million dollar plus night on the town with his wife on the tax payer dime. Obama is more akin to Marie Antoinette than Napoleon Bonaparte with his political instincts.
Not Waterloo, El Alamein, perhaps?
civil_truth Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:56PM EDT (link)Even if we can stop the Obama offensive at ObamaCare, he’s still got a lot of forces and large majorities in Congress. So it’s not like he would need to surrender if he loses this battle.
While we may be able to stop the advances and perhaps define his high-water mark, we will face many more battles before we could talk about his power being broken. Especially since we’re the side with inferior strength at this point.
And Rightly So!
