“In CBO’s judgment, the probability is high that no savings would be realized”

The Politico is breaking some more bad news for Barry O and his socialist storm troopers. According to a CBO analysis, the $1 trillion healthcare plan’s independent panel designed to keep Medicare spending in check would, at best, save only $2 billion of the $1 trillion plan.

the Congressional Budget Office said the proposal to give an independent panel the power to keep Medicare spending in check would only save about $2 billion over 10 years- a drop in the bucket compared to the bill’s $1 trillion price tag.

“In CBO’s judgment, the probability is high that no savings would be realized … but there is also a chance that substantial savings might be realized. Looking beyond the 10-year budget window, CBO expects that this proposal would generate larger but still modest savings on the same probabilistic basis,” CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf wrote in a letter to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Saturday.

The Blue Dogs might want to hang their hat on CBO’s more speculative cost savings projections, but those will whither away as the bill expands through Congress.

In other words, this bill will devastate the economy and drive up the deficit even further.

If we have people like this out in the country, how have we landed up in this mess???

The RNC should see about getting him to do an ad. He gets it and it is a visual that people can relate to.

BTW, how did you come across it? We should spread this.

I think it would be cool to name this independent panel the Death Commission. After all, that’s what it’s for.

The people with brains have figured out that any technological society can invent enough resource-consuming technologies to keep virtually anyone alive waaaay past their sell-by date, but at enormous cost.

This creates a problem, in that hardly anyone wants to die. Instead people demand that these expensive life-extending technologies be used on them, whether they personally can afford them or not. But this is untenable (or “unsustainable,” as the lefties like to say) because it would soon enough lead to spending 90% of GDP keeping people alive during their last 5% of life.

But just as no one wants to die, no one wants to be in charge of deciding. The Congress doesn’t want it. The White House doesn’t want it. The same guys who blame shadowy “insurance company executives” for cutting off the oxygen to your granny now want to name a shadowy “independent panel” to cut off the oxygen to your granny. And in your time, you.

We could cut a lot of BS out of this “health care” dialog if we would just admit that all this talk about “reducing costs” is ultimately about deciding the process by which “we” will decide when to pull the plugs. Somebody has to, because the plugees will hardly ever volunteer.

It’s about death. So let’s call the independent panel the Death Commission.

should be considered constructive notice of volunteering.

Cost reductions won’t come from any reduction in care whatsoever, only from elimination of waste and fraud.

So says the AARP, who knows at least about this as the NAACP and 100 Black Men of Atlanta know about cap and trade.

And AARP is non-partisan, so it’s just a coincidence that they always support whatever the Democrats propose and always oppose whatever the Republicans propose.

many if us, can’t resist seeing how pissed off you’re going to make someone by your comments. You were one of the regular commenters that I always clicked on when I first started to read RedState over 4 years ago because I knew you’d make me laugh.

Humor in a man is a very attractive quality. And that’s your RedState birthday present from me. ;-)
