Obamacare Delenda Est

Nancy Pelosi intends to push H.R. 3200, the Democrats’ plan to socialize American healthcare, to the floor this week for votes.

We must bring every ounce of possible pressure to bear on members of Congress this week.

I’ve made it easy. Go here to get your Congressman’s district office phone number.

Call and demand that your congressman vote no on H.R. 3200, the Democrats’ healthcare legislation.

We can stop this through concerted, constant action and pressure.

Call now. Remember congressional offices are only open during normal business hours. If you don’t get someone on the phone today, call tomorrow.

But it doesn’t look like it can make it to the floor this week. Even with whatever compromises were made over the weekend, the markup can’t complete until Thursday, at least that was reported earlier today. This doesn’t stop Pelosi from keeping them in session late to do a debate and vote though.

On the list of possible outcomes, here is my list of preferences:

    1) Bill goes to floor and is voted down.

    2) Bill goes to floor and passes. Congress then spends the next 5 weeks having to defend the specific measures and votes in the bill that passed.

    3) Bill doesn’t make it out of committee due to internal bickering.

    4) Bill makes it out of committee, but waits until after the recess for debate and amendments. This one gives the Congressweasels opportunity to say “I don’t like THAT part and will offer an amendment”, without actually being on the record.

Another talking point if your Represenative is on of the following is Life. The following Dems said they would not support any bill that does not specifically exclude abortion funding. The bill doesn’t possess such an exclusion. Hold them to it.

Reps. Dan Boren (D-OK); Bart Stupak (D-MI); Colin Peterson (D-MN); Tim Holden (D-PA); Travis Childers (D-MS); Lincoln Davis (D-TN); Heath Shuler (D-NC) Solomon Ortiz (D-TX); Mike McIntyre (D-NC); Jerry Costello (D-IL); Gene Taylor (D-MS); James Oberstar (D-MN); Bobby Bright (D-AL); Steve Driehaus (D-OH); Marcy Kaptur (D-OH); Charlie Melancon (D-LA); John Murtha (D-PA); Paul Kanjorski (D-PA); and Kathleen Dahlkemper (D-PA).

Even if it doesn’t go through this week, our Congresscritters still need to hear about this.

And I just found out that my Representative is voting against it.

She is my Representative D FL-11, a couple of weeks ago I wrote a post in protest on her vote yes on cap and trade:
I am outraged as well that you supported the Cap and Trade scam, it is the single most job stifling piece of legislation this country will see if passed. Daily we see the lines of unemployment increase, we see money fleeing this country in droves to harbor in foreign economies that are friendlier to businesses. Yet you chose to back a scam that burdens our citizens with taxes that extinguish the American Dream; a better life for those who work hard and earn it.
As far Healthcare have you visited a Hospital lately, it looks like the United Nations as doctors and patients come far and wide to work and receive treatment in our best hospitals, have you considered why? Yet will you choose to vote for a government controlled healthcare plan that completely eliminates competition? A Government Healthcare plan that makes private insurance illegal? A Government Healthcare mandated plan that fines you $2500.00 a year by the IRS if you refuse to sign up! What do you call a Government Healthcare plan that makes you participate?
I call it Socialism. Is that your plan?
You were elected to represent us, not to fall in line behind an utter debacle of plans that hurt individuals and this country far beyond the writers imagination.
It was deleted 4 days later along with others that protested her vote. Today I decided to write again and it was deleted automatically. So I guess she is hearing it. Last election cycle she won by 60% vote, even though I don’t consider my area liberal the opposing candidate Eddie Adams is not well known as K. Castor is. So if any of you are in the Tampa area or not please email or write or call and give her gruff.

So why bring it to a vote if it seems likely to fail?

So that the Republicans can be smeared as “obstructionists” or “do-nothings” and she and her minions can shrug: “Well, we tried, but the forces of evil were too strong!”

This will become a MSM mantra: “Republicans obstructed Health Care Reform. Crisis continues: millions die without medical treatment, etc.”

Remember Nobama’s phony argument: “Some people say do nothing…”

    Some people = Republicans.

And if it passes, then she and her minions rejoice!

    Win-sort of win.

If of course they wait, she knows the defeat will be certain, given the polls and the outrage building slowly throughout the country.

Just got off the phone with Larry’s local office, very nice young lady. After politely taking notes from my impassioned rant she did tell me that they have been receiving alot of calls on Healthcare. None of them supporting it! Now we’ll see if he is going to support his constituents or if he’s going to knuckle under for Nancy.

Can’t quite put my finger on it, though….

Rep’s a solid Dem, so don’t think it would work, but I did slip in a bit about how it violates Obama’s campaign pledge to contain costs while increasing coverage.

  • robertallen

Or at least I haven’t heard it.

“Mr/Ms. Congressperson/Secretary/President, etc….how many of the 50 million uninsured are illegal/undocumented immigrants and how many of those will your plan cover under this universal coverage plan?”

  • bags64

    zach wamp’s local office.

the assistant said that she had received hundreds of calls in opposition and just ‘about 2′ in favor.

when asked what wamp’s intentions were, she seemingly waffled, saying that he would vote based on how the majority of calls went. that was a little disappointing, inasmuch as I’d like for him to state definitively ‘no’.

alas, i’ll be shocked if he votes for it.

  • robertallen

of Tennessee and the race is for the “right” in the primary. No way in heckfire Wamp votes for this. Unless his plans are to drop out of the Governor’s race and run for re-election to Congress as an Obama Democrat.

  • louisiana

even tho he’s not my rep. Got the same answer as the last few times I called,
“he’s still reading the bill”. Right. Since he will probably run for the Senate,
I hope his ambitions outweigh his fear of Pelosi & friends.

We just can’t waterboard terrorist that want to kill Americans.

  • IJB

My guess is that she’s bluffing.

But if she brings this to the floor, it will go very, very bad for her.

Bad enough that she may no longer be Speaker when January of 2010 rolls around…

Was an oft repeated line by Roman poilticians in the years following the Second Punic War urging Rome to destroy Carthage so that it would not rise again. Carthage’s powerful agricultural base and position as an epicenter for Western Mediterranean trade left the twice defeated Carthaginian empire the potential to rise again. Only by destroying Carthage once and for all (the Third Punic War lasted only days and consisted mostly of dismantling the city and turning the Carthaginian farms into a Roman supply base), was the security of Rome assured.

this thing passes the House in a contentious manner…Blue Dogs are hung out to dry….all hell breaks loose in town hall meetings across the country during August recess….THEN

Congress comes back, BHO approval continues its decline, won’t pass the Senate (Reid shuts it down a la Cap & Trade), Pelosi is ousted, March on D.C. on 9/12 marks the official revival of fiscal conservatism, Governor’s of NJ and VA fall our way, and we sweep into 2010 and take the House back.

    Pretty simple, eh?

Thank you for your post above and, hopefully, your kind inclusion of the link that will allow folks to contact their local Congressman/woman will be utilized. This simply has got to be shot down and fast. As if there were not already enough evidence and reasons to do so, even CNN and the CBC are indicating this will result in the (further) loss of freedoms.

Sorry, I was not paying close attention. My mistake.
