Voiced my strong objection to H.R. 3200 and said if Hinchey voted for it he would not get my vote. He wouldn’t get it anyway. ;-) They took my name and 9 digit zip.

Found out about this a few minutes ago from Rush. Good going, Erick, getting Rush informed and thus millions of us!

BTW RS timed out for a while and then gave a 500 Internal Error. I wonder if the lefties are trying to cause you a DOS attack during this. Wouldn’t surprise me.

  • leppard

Mr. Burgess is currently opposed to HR3200 as it currently stands.

  • Crowe

Called and was told “he supports health care reform.” I told the staffer that I support health care reform of some sort, too, but this bill is a non-starter. After pressing more on HR 3200, they said he’s leaning toward supporting it. I explained the many reasons that is unacceptable. She took my name and address. Here’s hoping and praying any ‘deal’ falls through and/or fewer than 60 Senators go for it.

both offices told me they were undecided. When I asked how they could
still be undecided when this bill could come to the floor by today or tomorrow, I got the run around. Melancon’s aide asked me what district I lived in (obviously recognized I didn’t have a Cajun accent), I told him it didn’t matter,
as his vote would affect ALL of LA & the NATION, besides which if he planned to run for the Senate, I would most certainly be his constituent. As my Mom
used to say, They’re as USELESS AS TITS ON A BOAR HOG!

Per Jason Altimre’s office staff, what is actually happening is that they are resuming work on the markup now. They will vote on the markup on Friday. No floor vote will occur until September.

This is per Roll Call as of 12:55 or so

Mr. Altmire opposed the bill in his committe.

  • SoulEspresso

He is opposed to the public option and can’t support the current bill. They took my name and zip.

I called Congress Murphy, the self described blue dog. His staff member was polite, took my information. I asked him which way the calls were going and he admitted that the calls were against the bill. Murphy was in the military and I spent 6 years in the Navy so we both have some idea of what government provided healthcare is like. I recounted a story where a reservist Navy doctor told me after a motorcycle accident that I should go to see a “REAL doctor” and not go to the Navy Hospital due to the seriousness of my injuries. I did go to a civilian hospital and everything worked out. I told the staff member in the congressman’s office that since he spent time in the military he should be familiar with government healthcare and is that what he really wants? If he wants to push a public plan on us then he should accept one for himself.

I also asked where the congressman stands on this issue. He said that Murphy has not made up his mind, that he was waiting to see what the final bill is going to look like. Murphy claims to be a blue dog but he rarely votes against Pelozi so I am not holding my breath that he votes the right way on this one ether. I also asked the staff member if the congressman was going to read the bill before he voted on it. All I got from that was a laugh. I can only guess that means no.

Only 16 months till Nov 2010. Hopefully we can turn the congress from blue to red then.

As I wrote elsewhere a day or two ago: they cannot be depended upon.

They are Dems first and have in most cases feigned their conservatism.

Vote NO and then take a well deserved break. Or vote YES and get ready for the pitchfork august action.

I know I need say no more than that…. Democrats are so full of …..

“You can get vouchers for cars but not for schools” DONTREADONME, bit of an aside but ties to the initial comparison/point I made in Comment title…. More to the point of this discussion….

We need to remind folks that WE tried to address most of the concerns/issues with Free Market solutions many times and Democrats have REFUSED to cooperate. Why should any of us now be expected to cooperate and allow them a complete Health Care takeover under THEIR FALSE PRETENSES?!?!? Medicare Advantage plans have helped move some Government control out to Private companies by handing the Medicare processing out to them, and DEMOCRATS want to roll-back that move as part of this whole power grab.

Called Putnam. He’s definitely voting NO on H.R.-3200. What a relief because I believe our D-Senator and our RINO-Senator will be voting yes on this when or if it comes to the Senate. Hopefully this bill will die in the House.

  • janis

for several hours now. Just called Bart Gordon’s D.C. office and they told me “he has problems with some of the provisions and is waiting to see the final version.” To which I responded with my horror at most of the details I’ve read on this bill, most particularly the ones regarding legalized euthanasia, my tax money going to abortions, etc.

The young lady did the usual, took my name, said she’d pass the remarks along. Uh-huh.

  • http://www.skiloveland.com lholsenbeck

I just called the 15 listed here: http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/07/28/target-these-representatives-on-healthcare/ – in under 20 minutes.

Not one busy line, not one trip to voicemail, staffers were pleasant and not frazzled. I had those all day long on my cap and trade calls.

IMO, the democratic leadership got this action taken without the news getting out; so if they can whip up a vote before the pressure builds and the news gets out; it is passed this week.

I’ll be calling and emailing all nite. I encourage you to do the same or the government will be halfway to extreme controls and shortening life spans for you and everyone you know(Oh, and it’s going to throw the economy in the toilet too).

  • janis

to where Bart Gordon holds town halls during the August recess. If he votes “Yes” as I expect him to, it’s possible that he won’t schedule any.

But if he does…… Well, it should be quite the gabfest. Living in a rural and rather poor county, many of the folks here are on Medicare, they revere the elderly and don’t approve of abortions, particularly when it’s their hard come by money paying for it.

Emanuel sent gazillions to Bush districts in 2005 and 6 to get these clowns elected. The only reason he did was to provide a pad to Leadership. They really have no power, and on most important issues, they end up voting with the Administration and with Leadership, especially the ones with no seniority.

My take? Send in Palin, Jindal, and other fiscal cons to campaign against them for promising Young Turk businessmen and Iraq War veterans who campaign on Getting Our Affairs In Order and, implicitly, who campaign on cleaning out the stables in BOTH parties.

Understand that the electorate does NOT trust the Republican Party to contain spending. Nor should they. The GOP is still controlled by the Mittens/Bushtard wing that drove the Party into the ground. It will take a while for the Reagan wing to regain full control.

I have been looking for this: http://ace.mu.nu/archives/290253.php, with hat tip to Ace of Spades.

If they are about to take a month off, that’s plenty of time for me to get a “letter”, as emails delete easy and phone calls to each one of them.

Striking this down is more than worth the time now versus the end of life lost that Obama is telling you to get used to.

Care to join me ? Everything you need is in the link above.

Let’s you compose an email or letter and send it to 5 of the Blue dogs at once. I changed the body of the email to the following, if anyone needs inspiration to sound less partisan:

The past 4 weeks have allowed many ordinary Americans to review the details of HR 3200, and we have serious concerns about the bill. These concerns have been expressed by the falling poll numbers, with all polls showing a significant drop in support for this legislation.

American’s are supportive of changes that improve our system for paying for Healthcare and the medical insurance systems. However, we are very concerned that the 85% of us that are happy with our care, not suffer a loss in quality or access to our insurance plans.

This is not the time to rush this legislation, and it is not the time to push for legislation that is not bi-partisan in nature. This is too important to America to play political games. The specific concerns I have with the current plan include:

    1) Elimination of Medicare Advantage
    2) Elimination of Healthcare Savings Accounts
    3) Incentivizing companies to drop the private insurance they offer to their employees thereby forcing them to a public plan 4) Elimination of low cost “catastrophic only” plans through the minimum coverage requirements of the Exchange

Additionally, this is a poor time economically for the country to address this problem. With a federal deficit at the highest level in history, this is not the time to fundamentally alter such a significant portion of our economy.

I have the Blue Dog and Senate Phone and Fax numbers in CSV format for anyone that wants to to import to internet fax service or onboard fax software.

    Go here http://the41stvote.org/wp/take-action-now-the41stvote/take-action-downloads/

I use an internet fax service to send 50 faxes at a clip Also, you can send at night and it will keep sending until the connection is made. They typically have to physically count and read the faxes..

  • wgsampson

What is better? Stuck in committee, or On to the Floor? As long as this legislation is stuck in committee there is that additional vote and the Blue (Yellow) Dogs (Non)rebellion protecting us from Socialized Medicine. If they vote it out of committee, then there is (more or less) a final bill. If that happens no one can use the excuse that they haven’t seen the final legislation. So, they can be pummelled at Townhall meetings backhome. Tea-partiers can do a full on assault of their storefront offices. Basically, they have nowhere to hide.

and PA-13 is deep blue. Allyson Schwartz is a Pelosi-Obamabot and will never vote against anything they put in front of her. How great would it be if the Red Tide of ’10 could get to her…

  • WarEagle01

  • Dave_in_Fla

I’ll be happy to pay some $$$ for the ability to send out many faxes to them.

  • Marcus_Traianus

It is her policy not to disclose how she will vote. However, she does support Mr. Obama’s healthcare agenda. Which is how a coward says they are voting yes, no matter how destructive it is. Plus, Lowey has not voted against any Stimulus or other despicable legislation put in front of her thus far.

Folks from the district, this is not as “blue” as it once was and we have long memories. Why don’t you give Nita a call and let her know you vote and won’t be voting for her again.

  • beanerecmo

You knew the ‘blue dogs’ were going to fold like the cheap suits they are; it’s in their nature. Just like it is in the nature of the scorpion to sting – we got stung big time again.

  • Kyle-MI

At this point, complaining about the blue dogs doesn’t do any good. The simple fact is that we do not have enough Republicans in the House to stop anything. The only hope we have is to put pressure on the blue dogs. If Obamacare passes then we are in deep trouble. There is a decent change we can recapture the House next year. The odds against recapturing the Senate are slim to none. Even if we could regain both of those, Obama will veto any repeal of his signature law. We would have to have veto-overriding majorities to repeal this. In other words, if it does not get stopped now, it will be a long way down the road (if ever) before any real (conservative) reform will happen. Pressure the blue dogs now, complain about them later.

  • JSobieski

is probably the best way to put pressure on them.

If being a Blue Dog means they vote with Pelosi all the time, then complaining about them and pressuring them means the same thing.

Ever see a blue dog before? The name Blue Dog fits well—its all fiction.

mentioned Erick’s post. Web Sites have a notorious habit of slowing to a crawl and putting out 500 errors after he does that. It seemed like the site was loading a little slow before that but after Rush mentioned this post things really went haywire.

  • beanerecmo

Not complaining about them (waste of energy). Yes, there is a chance that republicants (sic) could retake the house; however, they have to be conservative, remain so, and don’t get arrogant as they did after ’94. That is/was their downfall. If one looks at the blue dogs who folded; one will learn that they ran as conservatives in districts that are turning blue. Consequently, the republicant who was run was fighting an uphill battle; i.e., fighting against the demographic turn as well as the weak-willed republicants in congress who were taking the terrible advice of political consultants to run to the middle left.
