Is Healthcare Back On?

image

Head’s up: there is a rumor circulating in the House of Representatives that enough Blue Dogs have caved on health care for Nancy Pelosi to get the bill to the floor this week. The memo to Republicans assuring them there’d be no vote could have been a ruse to turn down constituent heat enough.

Democrats are growing fearful that August recess will turn the Blue Dogs cold and want something out by Friday.

It appears they may have the votes to do that.

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN RIGHT NOW.

Go here and get the number. Call now.

to throw off the opposition. It seemed they gave up too easily. Rope a dope.

  • izoneguy

Let them vote on it. Either way the democrats will own it. They are burning down their own house. Just think – if you could back the clock on Social Security and MediCare…..

National Health Care will be the ruin of America. Pure & Simple.

  • rwalkerg

They did something similar with the Cap & Tax bill too. When this first went around I thought that it might be a trick to throw us off the scent.

I called Congressman Cassidy’s office, and told the very nice lady who answered that I was requesting that the Congressman oppose HR 3200. I then asked her what his current stance was on the bill, and she told me he was against it. She then took my name and address, presumably to verify that I did live in his district.

I know a written letter would have carried more weight, but this one phone call took about two minutes of my time. Well worth it to make sure your voice is heard.

I called mine. You call yours, please!

  • Vaughn Harold

and told him to stop this insanity now because the federal government has no business taking care of individuals healthcare, it’s a job for state and local communities.

  • JadedByPolitics

Connelly’s office and supposedly he doesn’t know how he will vote. I suggested that if this is so important and the country needs it that perhaps coming home for townhall meetings to discuss this takeover of 21% of GDP. I reminded his office that We The People have had unprecedented spending since September of last year that WE have had deficits as far as the eye can see RAMMED down our throats and that WE can ill afford another MASSIVE spending bill. He is a big lib so I am sure Nancy can count on him!

  • teresava

I called my congressman — Rep. Tom Perriello, Democrat-VA. I also sent faxes and emails. I doubt it will do any good. This freshman democrat voted for the stimulus bill and the cap and trade bill. He is beholden to the special interest groups, not his constituents. Furthermore, my two democrat senators, Webb and Warner, will probably vote for the senate version of this horrible bill. I feel like I am living in a nightmare.

  • erp

How many times will we fall for the same trick? I don’t care what color the media paint the left and right states, Democrats are red and always will be.

I acted quite stupidly today. I actually called my cogressman in D.C., he’s Mike Quigley, he replaced Rahm Emmanuel. The phone was answered immediately (after 1 ring) clearly their lines are not on fire. I was nervous and just made my quick point that I am a homeowner in Chicago (60614, Quigley would know it’s the most affluent zip code in the city) and that my husband is a small business owner. This bill would add more taxes and regulations to an already tenuous situation. “Thank you very much” and she was probably laughing her a** off at my call. Sorry folks, as a conservative in Chicago, I am the fool. I won’t be calling Quigley’s office ever again. I embarrassed myself. If you know Quigley, then you know why.

I’m still in the camp that, if they call a vote, it’ll blow up in their faces.
(Either way, though I’m betting it loses on the floor…)

    Let ‘em try it.

  • jyjacobs

I am really stuck on stupid today.

  • jeckert30

Rep. Adler (D) is still taking comments from constituents according to his office. He has supposedly not yet made up his mind. I hope his office is getting a lot of feedback.

  • penguin2

Glenn Nye VA-02 is mine. His staff keeps hedging when asked. I just reinforced that I was a constituent and wanted him to vote no. Husband sent e-mails too.

I agree with you, about the “nightmare.” Warner and Webb are marching right along. Webb’s offices only has busy signals. Not even going to voice mail, but that is his modus operandi. Haven’t got a response in weeks. You know they talk about the left wing taking over the Dem party? They are really all leftists. If none of them will stand up for what is right for America and at least take a stand somewhere in the middle they are just like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc.

Yesterday, Dick Morris recommended written letters too. Even more “impact.” Will work on that next.

I was skeptical of yesterday’s ruse and still am. But this is interesting.

Calling your Representative is your right as a citizen.

I live in Bay Area. I call my representatives & senators all the time: Rep. George Miller (the financial architect of this plan), Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein. It ain’t gonna do a darn bit of good. But I do it anyway. I keep it polite & respectful, but I read them the riot act.

I also call the freshman congressman in my parents’ home district (I own property in that district, but obv not a registered voter). I enjoy yelling at that guy. He won by about 100 votes in a very purple district. He voted for Porkulus and Cap-n-Trade. I told his receptionist that voting for Healthcare is going to get him a one-way ticket home from DC.

  • AceInTX

I’m not sure who they are aside from Senator Snowe…but I think Grassly is one of them and I do know he’s ready to sign onto a tax on “Cadillac Plans. and I think Judd Gregg is the other. He was on Fox News last night talking about a compromise to get it done.

and I’ll be stunned of there isn’t RMSPers in the Congressional Caucus that will provide cover for any blue dogs that don’t go along!

So…once again, we make progress, the American people express opposition to an Obama agenda item and our RINOs go to work in order to help the one pass his agenda…

  • penguin2

I had hoped to get to the August recess, and let them find out at home just how much people are against this bill. To know these people are actively making the effort to pass this travesty against the American people makes me ill.

    What do we do now???

  • leppard

My understanding is that representatives get a list of all the calls.

  • djemi

I say this thinking of the late night vote the Pe-LIED-see called a couple of weeks ago, remember the one where members where turning up in there PJs.

Anyway my critter Rep. Mark Schauer (D MI-07) (he’s on Moes list) had this to say or at least his staffer had this to say

    1) He has read the bill and understands it.
    2) He doen’t believe that the floor vote will take place before it has finished its mark up in E&C. But does think that it will be out of E&C to allow floor vote
    3) He wants to make SURE that everyone is satisfied that they understand it. Before a vote takes place.
    4) He will not decide on his vote until the final version comes out.

I need a cameraman for some of this, and if I can make a request a front page post with links to all posts regarding language in H.R.3200, a kind of catalogue post. in fact any help would be appreciated.

  • jyjacobs

…. for your words of encouragement.

  • redloft

Waxman has cut a deal with the Blue Dogs to mark the bill up this week and break for recess. This way the Dems can claim a victory heading into recess by getting the bill out of Committee.

  • cookcountyconservative

His office said he has not decided yet – he is reading the bill and will make his decision based on what he learns and from the sentiments of his constituents.
I voiced my opposition. They also took my name and address.

He may be one to focus on – (202) 225-5701
