Marco Rubio at the RedState Gathering

“That cap and trade legislation, which will do nothing but make America one of the cleanest third world economies . . .,” said Marco Rubio at the RedState Gathering.

He is a phenomenal speaker.

One of the valuable points Marco Rubio made at the RedState Gathering was that the Republican Party is the natural home of conservatives, but it is not the inevitable home of conservatives. If the GOP does not clean up its act and turn back from the path it has been on, conservatives will leave.

People like Marco Rubio can keep the party together, expand the base, and keep conservatives engaged.

My favorite line: “People ask me about expanding outreach to hispanics. The first thing they can do is stop hiring mariachi bands for hispanic outreach events.”

Couldn’t make the trip this weekend. I’m looking forward to all of the details.

Is the NRSC still endorsing Crist, or did they finally start listening to public opinion?

I do believe Rubio is saying what Sarah is saying and a hell of a lot of us are saying! I am of the thinking we can WRENCH this party to the RIGHT with people like Rubio but if the tools at the top cannot stop OVER REACHING and supporting RINO’s in the primaries they will be sent home like the children they are!

    and not the party machine.

  • George Claghorn

We decide who represents us, not the RNC/NRSC/NRCC officials meeting in a smoke-filled back room.

Are you going to be posting the transcripts of the different Speakers for us poor sods without working speakers.

  • sapwolf

Are there still people out there that believe these two would not make a devastating team for 2012?

And that South Carolina lady down in AAA too.

I’m sick and tired of the old white guy’s leading the party. We need libertarians and conservatives, not hacks.

And I’m 5/8 older white guy myself.

    :)

I know your heart is in the right place and that GW Bush was savagely attacked thru out his term, but please don’t hold him up as an example of a conservative. His domestic agenda* was progressive along with McCain and most of the Repub.Senate. *Kennedy-Bush Federal Education,RX Drug Plan (already broke),McCain-Bush Amnesty for Illegals,McCain-Feingold no veto Bush Campaign “Reform”, Harriet Myers for Supreme Court? Please just let him quietly go away.
We can no longer afford the country club elitist Rinos, they either get with being conservative or we get another party. Remember these elitists supported HW Bush over Reagan, and HW “read my lips” killed the Reagan Revolution once he became president. Just Facts.

I realize others may have better video than what my little FlipVideo and digital camera (had to switch to the camera when the FlipVideo filled up) were able to capture, but here’s what was able to shoot of Marco’s address. Enjoy!

    Thank you.

Marco Rubio is fantastic and a real conservative. I am thrilled he is running and I hope and pray he wins.

I so wanted to be at the Res State Gathering. I had the privilege of hearing Marco the week before here in Tampa and as a Floridian, I have been on his train since day one. I hope you will read why in my post –

    http://www.redstate.com/conteach/2009/07/25/a-statesman-for-such-a-time-as-this/

Regarding the primary – Marco is steadily gaining ground and working as hard as a candidate can work. Anyway – he needs all our help. National support in terms of $5 and $10 will help raise his local visibility. $1100 at a dinner is not going to get him there. I refuse to vote for Crist if he wins the primary.

Last – I would vote for a Palin/Rubio 2012 ticket in a heartbeat. I keep hoping they are both in Senate short term in 2010. Sorry GOP – Pawlenty/Jindal/Gingrich/Romney etc just don’t get me excited. NIce guys, but no fire. I would support Rick Perry, Eric Cantor or Jim DeMint also.

For some reason, when I try to embed code into a diary, the embedding does not work. Works fine in a comment, but not in a diary for me. Don’t know why. Because my guess is a person is more likely to watch an embedded video than a click on a link to a video, I decided to post the videos in a comment.

I use Internet Explorer 7 with Redstate because I found the “recommend” function does not work for me with Firefox.

Another quirk: all of a sudden, last night, the “double commenting” gremlin began again for me: I hit the “post comment” button once, but the comment displays twice. I see this happening for others, too, from time to time.

Thanks for doing all the interviews you did and posting the videos.

I really liked your remarks and advice at the end of the Gathering.

    Thank you.

…do you have the Visual tab clicked, or the HTML tab clicked? You need to cut and paste in the latter mode to get the YouTube html to load properly.

  • ColdWarrior

I’m pretty sure I was in Visual mode.

I’ll try it with the HTML tab clicked next time and then also preview what I write before hitting the publish button.

    Onward and upward!

Thank you for your suggestions and patience.

If we don’t clean out the congressional closet in 2010, then you can kiss this country goodbye.

I just heard a poll on the americans view of congress and it held that 48% of all voters felt the Republicans would lead us in a better direction as opposed to 37% who felt the Democrats were the right ones to lead.

Those are pretty strong numbers. Get out and support your Republican candidates. And if you don’t like who the RINO’s select get someone else in there. But stop expecting this fight to be about 2012. It’s about today and how the decisions made today will either kill us or save us.

about Marco Rubio in 2010 – I have written several times about the urgency of turning the House and/or Senate in 2010. Check my diary.
