The Democrats’ Official Talking Point: If you oppose the Democrats’ plans for healthcare, you are a corporate stooge and not a real American

More and more videos are circulating each day of congressmen facing the wrath of the American people. Consequently, the Democrats have come up with an official talking point — the protests are bought and paid for by lobbyists and the insurance industry.

Whether we want to or not, we have to pay attention to what Think Progress says when it starts saying the same thing over and over. Think Progress is the online mouthpiece for John Podesta’s Center for American Progress.

As I wrote a while back, “Ben Smith, writing in the Politico, tells us Barack Obama’s allies meet every morning by conference call at 8:45 a.m. to build their talking points. The calls operate as a left-wing character assassination squad run by John Podesta of the Center for American Progress (“CAP”). Podesta was also Co-Chairman of the Obama-Biden Transition Project. In addition, CAP’s political wing runs a website called Think Progress, which coordinates online messaging among leftwing bloggers.”

Think Progress and, therefore, the Democrats and online left, have decided to smear Americans opposed to Obamacare as corporate shills, much as they ridiculed tea party protestors as corporate shills. They aren’t doing it to persuade the public, they are doing it to reassure wavering Democrats in Congress. Those wavering Democrats can just repeat over and over “these voters are bought and paid for by the insurance community.”

Already Dick Durbin is using the talking point. Of course, Durbin also called our soldiers in Iraq “Nazis.”

See, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity — lobbyist funded right wing shills according to the left — are encouraging people to ask probing questions of their congressmen. How dare they. That is only acceptable when union funded left-wing groups like ACORN do it.

Americans for Prosperity is referred to here as “lobbyist funded.” Here too, Think Progress refers to protests at congressional town halls as “lobbyist funded.” And the lobbyist funded stooges who keep showing up are hostile and angry. Clearly the lobbyists paid the protestors extra for the anger.

Here is the funniest one. Joseph Richardson received a letter from Senator Conrad responding to one Joseph sent the senator. But Joseph never sent the letter. “The forged letter was likely a result of astroturfing,” Think Progress concludes with no evidence at all.

See that? You can’t trust any opinion that deviates from the left. They are all bought and paid for by dirty lobbyists, just like Think Progress is bought and paid for by unions. It does take one to know one.

The rich irony here is that the party that chose a community organizer as President cannot handle communities of people organizing and protesting the destruction of their way of life. The protestors must be bought and paid for by lobbyists — it is the only explanation. The Democrats, like the reporter who knew Nixon would lose because no one she knew voted for him, will find out just how wrong they are at the ballot box.

Are these guys trying to be funny or are they just too stupid not to see it? I know navel gazing is a pastime with the Left, but, good grief! Let’s see – ACORN, SEIU, UAW, AFL-CIO, etc. Yep, these guys are running TV ads in the Washington, DC, market encouraging “their” Senators and Representatives to vote for the Obamacare boondoggle. Anything 0 the jokester wants he should get as a matter of right, no? I mean, after all, he believes and has said multiple times, “I won”, therefore it is MY right. Never mind that the plebes can read [BTW, who screwed-up and allowed that to happen?] and get to express their opinions. As the old saying goes, “No one is more blind than he that will not see.”

because the 48M without health insurance are disproportionately black and hispanic.

  • JadedByPolitics

the bottom line is the media and Dick Durbin only have one vote and each and every one of those ANGRY Americans showing up at these townhalls are VOTERS and each ONE of their votes will ensure these idiots go home. I welcome their dismissal of ACTUAL voters on the ground.

These are not ACORN workers who come into an area and CANNOT vote (but they try) these are REAL AMERICANS who don’t have a backing by a union, who make their own signs, who voice their own disapproval and who will VOTE them out of office!

Oh, those vile insurance companies. You know how they absolutely delight in turning down claims. Whatever it takes to grow their obscene bottom-line profits is what they will do. Ooh, those evil corporations! Haven’t we been told this by our dear, leftist brethren all of our lives?

But suddenly the insurance companies are all on the side of us little guys. This grows out of the narrative that the insurance companies are involved in the health care plan development out of fear of the so-called public option. What hogwash. The insurance companies are not fearful: they are delighted. Congress is trying to mandate that every man, woman, and child in our Nation must buy their product, and Congress is preparing to backstop their risks. Talk about a cash cow and a steady income source – the insurance companies would be nuts to fund the protests.

And I could realy do with the money, but it’s not coming as I’m not a shrill of ‘big insurance’. Just a common foot soldier me, doing what I think is RIGHT.

… combat the videos of the president saying he wants to abolish private insurance. Here is their post asking for help and trying to spin out of it. http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

Now this administration has videos of the President saying what Conservatives accuse him of wanting to do, and he accuses Conservatives of lying. That take some serious audacity.

that the best argument the left can counter with is we are paid corporate shills?

The tiger inside the American people is awake now.

    Tsunami coming in 2010.

  • izoneguy

What happened to the 47 million “uninsured” number, or was it 43 Million??? They mighta as well just go all the way and say 99 million.
Those figures are false and bogus. They use those inflated numbers to scare everyone. 10-12 of those are illegals. So you want to pay more taxes and cover illegals? And another 10 Million make over $75,000 a year and just do not buy insurance. Another 10 million are eligible for other government health programs.

  • bk

by now I’m sure we’ve had another million “undocumented visitors” who have the same Constitutional right to free health care as the rest of us.

Obama also said repeatedly that the average family would save $2,500/year in health insurance premiums under his plan.

Yeah, facts are stubborn things, aren’t they?

    And BTW “words matter”.

  • Brian Hibbert

They counter Obama’s video saying one thing with a video of Obama saying just the opposite.

    Yes, facts are stubborn things.

  • red4ever

Paid for this attack on the first Amendment. Lovely.

For a tsunami, but I’m working like crazy for a little local flood, maybe even a rainstorm.

Fifteen months prior to 11/08 we thought we held the high ground with national security — it was “the economy, stupid!” Fifteen months from today, who knows? We better stay light on our feet.

the actual election of 2008. Once Obama was elected, the people who did not vote for him, but had been vigilant have now become hyper-vigilant. Independents and moderate Rep. who may have had reservations , but still voted for him, now may be paying extra attention after the election. In other words, they would move from mild observers to vigilant. Combine that with the realization by the general populace, that the Dems are in charge of everything, well it is as if the people have woken up from a long, deep sleep.

These numbers can only grow. It is pathetically funny though, to hear the left decry our right to free speech and call us shills. Must have taken one to know one.

  • perceptorii

Indeed. Who are you going to believe: Obama when he’s trying to sell you something, or Obama when his guard is down? Are you going to believe Obama or your lying eyes?

  • perceptorii

Democrats sure do know their astroturf. So do they know so much more about the inner workings of the conservative movement than the rest of us, or are they projecting?

The “fake letter” to Senator Conrad is indeed the funniest one. It turns out Senator’s staff accidentally categorized the letter incorrectly as “against cap-and-trade” and sent the wrong form letter. But never fear. The intrepid folks at Think Progress are intent on getting to the bottom of this, and trying to obtain the “real” letter.

  • Amy J.

Sorry if someone else already posted this, but you have to check out that last link about Senator Conrad’s letter. There was an update to the Think Progress posting that the Senator’s office contacted them. Mr. Richardson did send a letter, just not about clean energy. The Senator’s staff filed it incorrectly and as a result, Mr. Richardson got the wrong form letter. So, since there was no “astroturfing” of Mr. Richardson’s name, doesn’t that make the whole posting…a sham? HAHAHAHAHA. Gotta love them libs.
