Obama Brownshirts Try to Silence Glenn Beck

image

Barack Obama’s brownshirts are after Glenn Beck.

We can’t let them win. If they win with Beck, they’ll be emboldened to go after even more people.

A while back, Glenn Beck called Barack Obama a “racist.” Given all the terrorists, thugs, and racists Barack Obama has chosen as close personal friends (see e.g. Rev. Wright), it’s not a stretch to say it.

In fact, Obama’s Green Jobs Czar, the convicted felon and [Editor's Note: I actually find this on blogs, but haven't found it on a real news site, so I'm striking] self-declared communist Van Jones, has direct ties to the organization that’s trying to shut down Glenn Beck. Jones’s group has hired a big Hollywood PR firm and they are pressuring Glenn’s advertisers to stop advertising. If not, they’ll lead a boycott.

We need to strike back and boycott these groups for ditching Beck. If they are going to fold so easily in the face of Obama brownshirts, we must push back. If not, who’ll be next?

Here’s the list of the groups that have boycotted Glenn Beck. Let them know you disagree. Let them know you will boycott them for kowtowing to Barack Obama’s worshippers, brownshirts, goons, and thugs.

They don’t care about a boycott. They are part of the problem. Lewis, Soros, Buffet and Johnson all are so-called “progressives” after control of this country.

You are making a mistake to boycott Glen Beck. Your call. But it will not do for you what you believe a boycott like this implies. It will harm the public’s perception of you, not Glen Beck’s.

Your inconsistency condemns you, not Glen Beck. Had you acted to boycott folks who overly and inappropriately criticized President Bush then you’d have some credibility. You did not, so you do not.

Appear to be a hypocrite if you want. Not sure how that impression in any way helps you increase market share.

At the end of the day this kind of stuff helps Beck. Same as we’ve seen with Michelle Malkin’s book sales, Rush’s audience numbers, etc.

Not sure what these companies are thinking but I’m pretty sure Mr. Beck can’t be too upset.

Each day that goes by causes me to lose more and more respect for Warren Buffet. I thought at one time he was a genius, and now I realize he is nothing more than a crony capitalist with his hands, face and ample rear end in the trough.

  • JadedByPolitics

I don?t quite think you get that 59 million people did NOT vote for this President. Glenn Beck talks to a large portion of those 59 million through his radio show and his 5PM EST show on FOX. That you made your decision to stop supporting the show says more about you then about Glenn. I do believe you need to rethink succumbing to the left in this country when you make monetary decisions about your company. I will note that Glenn gets over 2 million viewers each night on his show you couple that with those people chatting with their friends about his show and you end up with quite a few Americans who agree with Glenn. I personally will not buy your products again until your company acts like a independent company who makes their business decisions based on hard cold cash and not the ?feelings? of progressive left.

    Thank you.

This is what I wrote them:

    To Whom it may concern,

It has come to my attention that there are a few groups threatening your organization with boycotts. I would like to join the opposition. If you choose to appease the trouble makers, and hang the Glenn Beck Show out to dry, I will be forced to boycott you as well.

I’d suggest that you ignore the trouble makers who can not compete in the arena of ideas and have to go around the back door to defeat someone. If they have a problem with Glenn Beck, tell them to confront Glenn Beck face to face on the air and let us decide who is right and who is wrong or right. Either way, you are going to lose customers. But Conservatives are more faithful to businesses and they never forget.

    The choice is yours,

The last time I wrote to complain I got the same response from many companies … Hilton Hotels comes to mind, can’t remember the others now. They claimed they weren’t a sponsor but maybe their media buyers had done so in some markets. At the time I believed them but the same response this time from other companies is, well, fishy. This way they can claim to pull ads to make libs happy and then tell us that they weren’t pulling the ads because as far as they knew they never meant to advertise on these programs in the first place.

the ratings of Beck on FOX.

When they realize that the people who are complaining to the advertisers don’t watch FOX, don’t watch Beck’s program and don’t watch their commercials they pay for to be on that network in the first place – then maybe they’ll listen more to the people who are watching FOX, Neck and their commercials.

Hopefully they know whats more important to their bottom line. Pleasing the people who don’t watch their commercials and buy their product, or pleasing the ones who do.

Off to do Progressive and Geico next.

I was just in the middle of getting quotes to move my auto and home coverage due to massive price increases from my current carrier.

Progressive had the lowest quote so far, but I will gladly pay a little more to stick it to a company that buckles under empty left-wing threats as easily as they have.

I say “empty” because there is no way a company can know this quickly whether threats of a boycott are real or simply threats from a very vocal minority.. see all the diaries over at Daily Kos on this subject, for instance.

r Tony Nicely Chariman President and CEO, Insurance Companies,
It has been brought to my attention that your company plans on boycotting television shows like Glenn Beck on the Fox Nes Channel and quite possibly pulling adverstisement from stations that carry the Glenn Beck syndicated radio-talk program. I am currently a customer of Geico. I have two vehicles covered with your company’s insurance policies. I have been a customer of Geico for almost ten years now, and I have always had both my vehicles insured with your company. I also have home owners insurance policy with Travelers which I believe is a sector of Geico dealing with home owners and renters insurance policies.

That said, I will consider looking towards your competitors for new automobile insurance policies and for home owners insurance if you engage in boycotting practicies against Glenn Beck or any other commentator that espouses views in contrast to that of the current President. This sir, is a warning, I have been a consistent patron to your business and if you go down the route of boycotting I will execute my warning to go to your competitors such as All-State or State Farm. Please do the right thing and conduct business as usual and do not use your business as a bludgeon to get the person who is to be ostricized (i.e. Glenn Beck), because consumers like myself will lead a reverse bludgeon to make sure that I will cancel my policy and pass along word of the activities your company is involved in. That also includes not recommending Geico to others, which I have trumpet to date.

    Sincerely,
    DROM Policy # XXXX-XX-XX-XX

Your post isn’t entirely clear. Did all these advertisers pull advertising from Beck’s show, and did they state that they reason was because of liberal pressure? I have Geico auto, I’m pretty happy with it, and I don’t want to make an ass of myself calling or emailing them bitching unless I know what I”m bitching about.

    Dear Mr. Johnson,

It is with a great deal of sadness that I am writing to inform you that I will no longer patronize your company through my purchases, due to your company?s boycott of Glenn Beck. Please don?t attempt to appease me with the tired response that your company does not know what your media buyers do. That is insulting and beneath contempt.

For an American company to do the bidding of a communist, Van Johnson and his group, Color of Change, because they don?t like the light of day drawn to their activities, is disgusting. You are known by the company you keep and your actions- both of which speak volumes about your disdain and contempt for this country and her citizens. There is a clear difference between right and wrong, moral and immoral, and your company is espousing the latter. I will miss using your products, but will find replacements, knowing that my money will not be funding the overthrow of this great Republic.

Let them know that we are the ones they should fear. Let them know that if we boycott their products and services for failing to stand up to the brown shirts and communists of this country, they will feel it in their pocket books!

I emailed every advertiser. Now you must do the same! Speak up! Let our voices be heard. Socialism and Communism cannot be allowed to infest and destroy America!

The Obama Admin and the Socialist left are out of control! We must stand up and fight them!

  • Chieftain1776

    Mr. Nicely,

I believe Geico is in error in boycotting conservative commentator Glenn Beck’s program. While his statement is controversial most of your customers are not political. The people contacting you are left-wing activists who most likely never watch the Fox Network and probably don’t even own a car. All of these same activists have done no such agitation on behalf of Americans who were slurred and defamed on the MSNBC network. I’ve included examples below and have decided NOT to contact at least one well known advertiser, Applebee’s, on that network because I have better things to do.

If you persist in your boycott one can safely assume that Geico values political correctness and/or political liberalism over the desires of its very own customers. If given the chose between a product that seeks to improve its features and functionality or one that diverts resources to cater to the political climate, any sane customer will frequent the former. If given the choice between two similar products which cater chiefly to political loyalties I will go, with the 40% of Americans, to the one that honors political conservatives (versus 21% liberal).

    Sincerely,

    XXXX

Examples of offensive behavior on MSNBC:

-On the highest rated program on their network, Countdown with Keith Olbermann: The host agreed with Jeanne Garofolo in calling conservative protesters: “a bunch of teabagging rednecks,” adding “this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up.” http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/04/16/garofalo-tea-partiers-are-all-racists-who-hate-black-president.

-”Socialist is a code word for the n-word.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3dFh8YYd70

-”We live in a white supremacist world”? ? Toure, 7/28/09 on MSNBC http://www.politico.com/blogs/anneschroeder/0709/Sightings_and_quotes_Who_said_we_live_in_a_white_supremacist_world.html

-And referring to black conservatives as “self-loathing black guys” http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth/2009/02/27/olbermann-garofalo-see-self-loathing-black-guy-michael-steele-limbaug and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfzJZLzJx10

And probably the most offensive: “family friendly” tea bagging sexual double entendres on network television. I’m sure if an Applebee’s waitress were subject to such treatment the manager would throw the bum out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i-OWDjOQfI

these Liberal blue state Republicans? That is the problem, they are Republicans who do not want to lose their seats. No guts, no glory as they say in some wars. They do not wish to be soldiers in the war to save the Liberty and Freedoms provided in the U.S. Constitution and the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Those forefathers, though imperfect, lost their lives and fortunes to stand up to the tyranny of the British monarchy. These blue state SNOBS, have no guts, and should be voted out of their glory in 2010.

I called Progressive, they said they aren’t boycotting his show, the reports are false, they pulled advertising from his show because they didn’t buy time for his show and it was was shown in error. Hmmm, sounds like they’re backpedaling. They don’t know the power of Glenn’s fans.

    Here’s a response I received from Tasher:

Thank you first of all for being a GEICO policyholder.

This week we took action to move our marketing messages from the Glenn Beck show and you are wondering why.

    Well you deserve an answer.

If the inflammatory nature of the comments on a program overshadows our message and causes GEICO to be drawn into a national debate, we are likely to reconsider where we place our marketing messages, which is what we did.

GEICO delivers very important messages through its major marketing campaigns: we?re saving customers? dollars, we?re easy to do business with, we?re looking out for our policyholders. That?s what we hope the public hears and sees and focuses on.

As a company, we do not take positions on controversial issues.

As an advertiser, while a national debate on issues can be healthy and appropriate, we don?t see ourselves in the role of taking part in those debates.

Our business is auto insurance. We want to bring people value and we attempt to reach large audiences with that message.

It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.

So far nothing has bounced back. Incidentally, I’ve known for years how far left Progressive is and have boycotted it accordingly. I’m surprised everyone didn’t know about them. ;-)

I think these companies are in for a world of hurt p.r.-wise. When companies showed callousness toward our military during the Iraq war, a day or 2 of really bad p.r. had them backpedalling fast. I doubt these brownshirts will backpedal, but plenty of people will boycott them for aligning themselves with Obama’s Marxist thug policies.

If the measure of advertising has to do with the level of name-calling and controversy, this is an invitation to further raise volume and disruption in our political process. Ms.Tasher is throwing gasoline on the fire.

Plus, I seriously doubt whether Ms. Tasher has ever applied this ad hoc standard before. Did Geico pull ads when other TV show host made “inflammatory” comments about President Bush, or instance? Or is she simply carrying Obama’s water here.

Or does Geico have a stake in the healthcare debate and is trying to curry favor with the Democratic leaders?

None of this is helping Glenn Beck, or FNC. No company, anywhere, wants to get dragged into one of these things. The more controversy from either side, the less they want to have anything to do with the show. If they have both sides yelling at them, they for sure want nothing to do with the show.

At least on radio, Glenn is a BIG spokes person for GM. These are “in program” spots with Beck speaking, not local buys. I wonder, when the contract comes up for renewal, if their new masters will force them to sacrifice reaching a very strong demographic that might actually be able to afford a Volt.

As a person with a degree in marketing, I can tell you that that answer makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
First of all, Fox News should be THE main channel you would want to advertise on because it has higher ratings than the other channels.
Second of all, there aren’t many people who are going to draw a direct correlation between Geico, Progressive, etc. and Glenn Beck, so nobody is going to assume that those particular companies endorse any show on any channel in which they advertise, particularly if they advertise on other channels with differing views.
Thirdly, it is a huge (marketing) industry no-no to pull your ads from a popular show. Why would you want viewership to go down? That’s no way to make money. These tv ads aren’t cheap, so you usually want the most bang for your buck.

Therefore, Ms. Tasher, we know you’re trying to blow a bunch of hot air under our skirts and we aren’t buying it. Stop trying to please your Communist whack job friends and do your duty as an American citizen!!!

“It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.”

A person from this company actually said this? A program gets this much attention and you don’t want your advertisements on the program? How’s that? What, you don’t want your ads to reach as many people as possible?

    This statement makes no sense.

Some adjustments may be in order.

Instead of yelling, we could call them like a friendly consumer of their products, make a point that we love GBeck’s show too …. and and

if that’s not enough we can go on further by saying that (sniff) GBeck and their products are a match in heaven. .

White Lies? Uggh. sorry.. erase. erase.

Mark Hyman, 8/25/08, Human Events article, “Liberal Talk Radio: One Week Listening to the Wild Side,” noted comments of hosts such as above. Also, “John McCain is a senile son of a bitch who needs someone to change his Depends,” and “The ?Bush crime family? was behind the planning and execution of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.”" Among others. Mr. Hyman notes plenty of corporate advertisers on the channel.

I watch the Glenn Beck show on Fox News every day, and when he goes to a commercial break I hit the mute button on the remote and get up and do other things until the commercial is over. I do this when I watch other programs, too. I loath commercials–such a waste of time.

As I recall, it stands for Government Employee Insurance Company. Go figure.

  • lwe6576

We had them for a while and they increased their rates significantly so I looked for another car insurance company. They did a bait and switch thing with us. We were supposed to get a discount for belonging to our credit union, however, that didn’t matter. We were supposed to get a discount for my husband having a 4 year college degree, they said they didn’t know anything about that discount. We have Travelers now and are happy with them and their rates are super low. Had Progressive on our motorcycles, but Harley Davidson had better rates. I don’t deal with a local agent and find my insurance on esurance.com. I demanded my credit union stop advertising for GEICO, they said no. Can’t drop the credit union because we have everything there to include our mortgage which we just refinanced.

that he will not be renewing the GE contract when it expires unless they change their behavior.

I never really caught much of his show, it was no more than a 6 minute drive including traffic lights from the train station to my house, but it is amazing how much real information he could pack into those 6 minutes.

  • gazill

they had signed to advertise long before government control, so are still under contract to plug these companies.

  • jsmiddleton4

It just makes no sense as in it can’t be the real reason. IF the real reason is the Glen Beck show gets too much attention so we don’t want our ads there, the person who made that decision needs to be fired. That would be like saying “We decided not to run ads during the Super Bowl because too many people watch them.”

So either the person who made that decision is an idiot or it is a lie.

Me thinks I know which one it is……

Thank you for sharing your concerns as there is some potentially misleading information on the web about this topic.

SC Johnson has not pulled or cancelled advertising for the Glenn Beck show, as we never directed our advertising to this particular program. In general, our goal is to provide good, informative ads and we select those programs and/or networks that make the most sense given our consumer base.

    Dear Sirs,

It has come to my attention that your company has chosen to withdraw advertising from the Glen Beck television show on Fox News under pressure from a group called ?Color of Change?, founded by self-described communist Van Jones, who is now the so-called ?green jobs? czar in the Obama administration. Mr. Beck had recently done several exposes on Mr. Jones and, like millions of Americans is critical of the direction the Obama administration is taking this country.

Mr. Beck?s recent comment about how he perceives the President?s attitude on race is sensational, to be sure, but when you consider the President?s past and current associations, 20 years as a member of a racist church, his choice for the Supreme Court, his comments about his white grandmother, his overzealous reaction to the Lawrence Gates arrest, and the constant implication from his supporters that criticism of him is ?racism?, I happen to agree with Mr. Beck. The President is not the post-racial healer that he was sold as in the campaign.

Your decision to bow to the will of the President?s political hacks has caused me to re-think my long-time relationship with your company. I will be changing insurance providers as soon as possible and will advise my friends and family (and anyone else who will listen) to do the same.

    Regretfully,
