EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Kay Bailey Hutchison is Failing in Her Rhetoric

About the only campaign that comes close to the disaster that is Creigh Deeds’ campaign in Virginia is the craptacular spectacle of Kay Bailey Hutchison running her Texas gubernatorial primary.

The campaign has thus far been a disaster. Most recently, this morning, KBH showed up an hour late to her own kick off event.

Then, when she got there, she started bashing Rick Perry for being Governor for ten years. She said, “We need results, not politics. And that starts with term limits for Texas governor. For any governor, eight years is enough.”

The befuddling irony is that Kay Bailey Hutchison has been a United States Senator for seventeen years. Pot meet kettle.

Then of course, there is this:

When she first ran for Lloyd Bentsen’s vacated seat in 1993, she pledged to serve only two terms.

I get it with Perry and serving another term. But on the other hand, if a company is doing well, would you ever toss the CEO just because “eight years is enough”? That’s not smart business sense.

Lastly, and put more plainly, Texas has a choice — does it want a conservative or a Republican first?

Kay Bailey Hutchinson is defined by her party. She is notorious in Congress for throwing conservative staffers out of meetings. She is notorious for undermining pro-life legislation because she did not want to deal with. She is notorious for being a capitulating compromiser.

For Kay Bailey Hutchinson, it is all about the party and, consequently, all about holding on to power.

Rick Perry is a conservative before he is a Republican. His foundation, unlike KBH, is not the acquisition of political power, but the application of principles grounded in our Declaration of Independence, i.e. life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Texas voters in the Republican Primary may be tired of Rick Perry, but do they want to throw him out for an unprincipled member of the Republican Party establishment? If so, they will get no better than the same Republican Establishment the nation coldly rejected in 2008.

    A White House E-Mail-Gate!

The biggest story since Watergate and news media like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN etc. with their pro and biased Obama reporting are no where to be found or heard.

So, this Administration is attempting to shift the blame from the President and his un-elected czars to ?third parties-unnamed?.

Laws that the President was sworn to uphold, the privacy act of 1974 and The Computer Matching and Privacy Protection Act of 1988, have been broken by the illegal act of gathering and soliciting emails and conversations about information from one citizen concerning another American citizen relating to health care.

Where are the voice and outrage from our elected Senators and Congress members. NOT a word spoken from them against this abuse of power and illegal act by the white house (snitch e-mails and a “reality check” section on the White House Web site). I guess they are still on vacation and hiding from the voters.

Time for Congress and the Senate to do their job of representing the people by holding hearings on the possible impeachment of this President for such illegal activities which are clearly in violation of the constitution.

Where, at least, is the appointment of an independent prosecutor to investigate such abuse of power by the President and his administration.

No one, including our President is above the law! Please help inform the American public, by forwarding this article to all your individual friends and news blogs etc.

They are not completely stooopid at the NObama W.H.

100% stupidity at the W.H.? Because that’s a cause I’d be willing to donate to, you know.

but now question is, will she run as an Independent if she loses? So, she want’s term limits now when the chips are down. She’s in state government and the senate for as long or longer than Perry. There is no need for now.

KBH out of the Senate (Michael Williams!) and Perry to remain as governor.

  • penguin2

As I have been paying attention to the difference between Republicans vs Conservatives (in primaries), KBH who may have name recognition, needs to go.

Parry has done a masterful job including his work on the 2000 recession of keeping a balanced budget without raising taxes…He managed Hurricane Rita like a pro showing the Governor of Louisiana who to deal with a category 5 hurricane just months after Katrina and showed again how it’s none last year when Hurricane Ike smashed into Galveston last year, (or was it year before?). He was alos very out front against the Bush/McCain/Kennedy Amnesty bill!

The Party bosses here have been Pushing for Kay to take him on since 2006 for what reason is beyond me. The only thing I can figure is that he stepped on some toes during the Clinton recession because he forced spending cuts across the board here to balance the budget and wouldn’t let them raise taxes….I think there is bad blood with the Bush bunch here over Amnesty and the fact that he’s unabashedly pro life and an out spoken Christian which doesn’t play well with the establishment anywhere in the Republican Party.

My prayer is that this will give us Perry in the end…Micheal Williams as a US Senator…and KBH making the rounds in the DC Cocktail circuit, and making her living on K street but with no more pretense of representing Texas and her voters since she’s been asleep in Washington anyway and we’ve gotten little if anything from her in the first place!

that’s when some smart Republican winning the White House will pick Perry as VP or for some other cabinet spot.

  • lurker9876

I believe that one reason that some Texans want Rick Perry out as to do with the recent business tax law designed to offset the property taxes only in theory.

The girl’s required injections may have something to do with it.

But of lately, I’m impressed with Rick Perry.

As of today, given two choices between Kay and Rick, Rick is my choice. Michael Williams replacing Kay is also good news.

  • Maggie_in_Indiana

has thrown her support to Perry also. I’m just sayin. Folks we could have a cat fight with Sarah and Kay as the headliners. Perry could be the ref.

  • izoneguy

    This should be good….
Obamatrons are expecting Obama to show up to help KBH???
They don’t know she is running as a Republican and that this is a primary race!!

Palin will come on down to Texas and turn out huge crowds for Rick…
What will poor ole Kay “I want a bailout” do???
He strategy is to slam Rick on why he did not take “stimulus” dollars…
A real losing idea. I think politicians would be running away from Obama as fast as possible.

  • izoneguy

KBH has been in DC for 16 years and has a “beltway” mentality…..

KBH wanted Texas to take stimulus money….
That issue alone will turn off potential KBH voters.

Texas is #1 in job creation and people are flooding in….
Because we don’t swallow the liberal poison pills like
    Kalifornia & New York have.

  • AceInTX

The forced Immunizations…and the way he handled the Trans Texas Corridor are two examples…but his good far outweighs the bad when his whole record is taken into account.

I think Kay has bitten off far more than she can chew and I’m gonna enjoy watching her slip quietly into oblivion. She’s not anyone who is so far out from my way of thinking that I would go out of my way to primary or oppose her…but now that she’s put herself out there and opened herself up she’s fair game.

  • jimmuy8

with New! and Improved! Republicanish-ness. Now fortified with Refined Conservatite Compounds!

The same “lifetime Republicans” or “concerned conservatives” who couldn’t wait for KBH are the same lot that were so giddy that Kinky was gonna siphon enough votes away from Perry that what’s-his-name might win.

I mean, ask ‘em: What’s so great about KBH?
    Answer: She’s not Perry.
Go down the list of issues Republicans or conservatives care about and she ain’t a leader on any of them, not even close.

(Yeah, I got my gripes with Perry but, it has more to do with being a Texas Tech alum–but, I’m not stupid enough to think KBH would be better.)

  • louisiana

Can any of you Texans tell me who her U.S. rep is?

  • jano4

Round Rock is outside of Austin, obviously on the good side. As far as Perry and Hutchinson go….looks like we have one of those lesser of 2 evils primaries. Though we do have Medina in the race, and she is truly the most conservative of the bunch. Perry may also have a nice little scandal brewing at Texas A&M to contend with soon as well. Majority of conservatives here do not like Perry, but care a lot less for KBH.
As far as Perry leading the charge with the hurricane recovery, it really has much more to do with the attitude of folks down here, and the ability of our local leaders rather than the figure head that is Mr. Goodhair. It will be good the get KBH out of the senate if this accomplishes nothing else.

  • AceInTX

They not only oppose Conservatives in Primaries…but actively undermine and oppose them once elected…They’re the ones who pushed Carole Keeton Strayhorn against Perry last time and tried to get Kay in then…They’re a nasty bunch of wimps and Whiners who’ll walk past a dozen more deserving Democrats to stick a shank in the back of any Conservative Republican in site!

I’m not sure Kay is part of that group…but they’re the ones who’ve pushed for her to run since 2002…and they’re leading her off a cliff. Cause Perry ain’t that unpopular IMHO. and Kay Baily doesn’t excite anyone.

Key’s an idiot if she thinks there’s any desire in Texas to dump Perry!

  • AceInTX

Majority of conservatives here do not like Perry, but care a lot less for KBH.

  • AceInTX

There are those in the establishment like I mentioned above…the RMSP types who hate…and openly oppose any Conservative no matter what…

Then there are the Hopey Changies….Keep in mind…when I say hope and change…I don’t necessarily mean of the Obama type of Leftist hope and change…they’re the people who just want change for the sake of change. They don’t necessarily have a dog in the hunt…or oppose Perry ideologically. Their just tired of seeing the same old face after eight years and want a fresh face to look at.

  • lurker9876

is very conservative. My parents live in Belton, Texas. They have heard him talk several times. They are conservative and they are very happy with John Carter. They had Chet Edwards. Chet Edwards represents another district.

I’ve been to the last two state conventions. Some strange things happened at both. That protest for Nueces County for one thing. Debbie Medina fought against Tina Benkiser. Debbie got what she wanted. However, Tina managed to play the game in her favor. Debbie’s not that well-known so she won’t get the votes.

Yeah, there are several factions within the Texas GOP party.

I had forgotten about the Trans Texas Corridor. It has some good ideas that I like but it had several issues that I felt needed to be resolved before the implementation of the project got started. They did not do a good job selling it to the Texans.

    Rasmussen has Perry ahead 46-36.

Hopefully, that lead will stick. It is troubling to note that most Republicans in the legislature are no different from Hutchison. However, I suspect that has more to do with a lack of primary challengers. Whoever wins likely won’t make any difference in terms of what happens in the legislature.

  • popdaddy

The woman who posed for a picture with Hillary_____Clinton wants to bring her pro-abortion, RINO old butt to Texas for retirement at taxpayer expense.

The only good thing I have read about her is she will resign her Senate seat to run for Governor. Thank goodness for Sarah Palin for setting the example for the future of politics the public should demand.

Rick Perry will have the opportunity to appoint a true conserative to the U.S. Senate to represent Texas. I wish he would step into the position and let David Dewhurst move up to challenge Ma.

The national socialist democrat party members in Texas will cross party lines to join RINO voters aganist Perry in the primary. But, with humor, I read last week old Kinky Freeman is going to run for Govenor as a socialist democrat next year.
It will be fun to watch the landslide as the socialist democrat party incurrs the rath of the silent majority and the pure idiocyof the unwashed wackos the socialist democrats depend on.

  • lurker9876

Not that many people are happy with David Dewhurst.

  • AceInTX

let alone get them to challenge squishy moderates in deep red districts…

The RPT is as bad or worse than the RNC and the NRSC…they insist on poking a thumb in Conservative’s eyes and puting up moderate/liberal Republicans in the redest state in the country…it drive me nuts
