That he’s an American first and a democrat (and loyal Obama administration employee) second. If so, then good for him. We’ll just have to keep close watch on this.

Not if he just takes his ball and goes home. But if he plans to be noisy once freed from the constraints of being an administration man, it might get interesting.

If I am a CIA interrogator, and I see the head of the CIA resign at mention of the Justice department investigating me, I would feel like someone (else) had just left me out to dry.

But the blow it would cause at Langley might not be worth it.
Imagine working at CIA. The thought had to cross your mind to just give up and leave after about January 20.
Then you saw a fighter take over the Agency, and you thought “Maybe I’ll stick around, see if he’s for real.”
Now months later he pulls the plug in protest; do you stay or go?
Pull the ripcord, baby! Go deal with industrial espionage at twice the money.
Could be replacing a LOT of good people with stooges here in a few weeks.

The Obama Administration begins its churn before it is even filled out. More reason for Americans to understand that it was a mistake to elect him in the first place.

I think the CIA needs to do some house cleaning. Their have been abuses that have made us less safe and there are allot of career CIA who would love to see some of the bad eggs fired and possibly prosecuted. I think Panetta is going to be right there with the broom.

I will be amazed if Panetta has the integrity and courage to stand up to this evil, stupid and radical action by Obama and his stooge Holder but I wll be impressed if he does. Using the legal power of the administration to try to persecute people you have policy differences with brought down the Athenian democracy (trial of Alcebiades), the Roman Republic (charges against Julius Caesar) and innumerable modern third world and some larger democracies. Following this the Republicans can conduct show trials against the Democrats for their economic crimes and corruption. Tit for tat. Holder is playing with fire. Obama launched this effort to distract attention from his absurd healthcare and cap and trade policies - red meat for the uber-lefts to distract them from his failure to nationalize the healthcare system. If Panetta acts with courage - as Elliott Richardson did - he can win in 2012.

Eric Holder was a defense attorney for terrorists before he became AG. His agenda is to attack the former Bush Administration. Perhaps Leon Panetta realizes this and has to his credit drawn a line in the sand in the name of national security and the greater good.

Or is he disgusted enough? I don’t think he has that strength in his character.
