EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Good Grief

That was by far the most interesting experience I have ever had on the Great American Panel.

First off, Bob Beckel is actually awesome. Just so you know. He’s unrepentant and a liberal, but he’s great.

My goodness, though. That whole discussion about Hitler being brilliant and the UN birth control stuff was something else. And this is the problem, I think, with a lot of the younger Hollywood crowd.

If you missed it, one of the panelists, Aubrey O’Day, tonight thought it was a-okay to teach 5 year olds about sex and stuff. The whole topic was rather uncomfortable knowing my four year old was watching. Aubrey said that things in New York and Africa are different and we should should start teaching kids about sex and homosexuality and transgendered people, etc.

Really? Seriously?

That we are unwilling to let kids be kids is one of the greatest problems of our age. Marketers have pole dancing dolls. Clothiers have slutty clothes for kindergartners. We reap what we sow and the crop we’re growing is going to be seriously deformed with cavalier attitudes on social norms.

As to Aubrey O’Day, it is better to be silent and to be thought a fool than to talk over the other three and remove all doubt.

    Sheesh

  • NeoKong

I heard big celebrities get picked up in limos.

  • IJB

…If he stuck you on a panel with Aubrey O’Day!

You likely would have gotten more coherence out of Lindsay Lohan or Mischa Barton!!

  • WarEagle01

Aubrey O?Day was rather foolish. The one thing I don’t like about Hannity’s show is that he always seems to have one person on the AAP who has no clue. I know that’s part of the shtick–having a non-political on the panel to get their take–but to me it just seems like a time waster. I always thought Beckel was a decent sort and I know he and Hannity are good friends. Just wish he was on our side.

Grass;ey must have gotten a LOT of heat back in Iowa. I never really thought he’d ever support a public option, but he at least seemed intent on hammering out some kind of deal. Not anymore. His public comments at the Iowa townhalls combined with this fundraising letter essentially ensures that the bipartisan Finance committee deal is done.

I don’t buy the reconciliation argument, frankly. If the Dems were to employ that tactic, the bill would be destroyed through parliamentary procedures and they would suffer enormously in the world of public opinion. Furthermore, reconciliation is only good for 5 or 10 years, thus any health care bill would automatically sunset after that time – similar to the Bush tax cuts.

It will be interesting what happens from here on out.

  • St_Louis_Conservative

I thought this was the Grassley thread.

watching Audrey. She needs serious help

killed a few of my brain cells. I had to mute the show until someone else starting talking. There was just too much plastic on parade with this guest. Beckel was more unhinged than usual and Erick was the zen master on the panel. Clear, calm and collected.

  • rbdwiggins

It’s being done intentionally. The re-making of America is taking place before our eyes, and I surely do not like what I see. If left unchecked, the present course portends the end of Liberty.

Clearly, we can’t say that we haven’t been warned…

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” – John Adams – October 11, 1798

Erick was calm, cool, polite while the idiot blonde was awful. I had to mute the tv—what a loon. And, I don’t believe Beckel’s story about the townhall he went to where a woman in a wheel chair was given talking points. That was too convenient because he’s been saying right from the start that the anti-Obama gov health care protestors were staged, plants, given talking points, etc. He’s said over and over that he invented the technique of getting people in wheelchairs, hauling them to protests and giving them talking points. He’s a liar. Poor Erick. So polite surrounded by idiots.

  • Husker

I usually do not site wikipedia, but O’Day’s bio looks like a recipe for a future train wreck. Yikes!

  • izoneguy

or comprehend what it really means.

That girl was what 25? Born in the mid 80′s?
And she has met Castro and throught he was brilliant?
    What does she know?

All the Hollywood libs trek down to Cuba & hang out with Hugo.
With Obama leading the way for the young libs it will only get worse.

  • Richard Mullins

about history. If they did, she wouldn’t be so clueless(I was that blond when she was born[1984] and I’m lucky it darkened up).

  • MacAoidh

    …she’s ill-equipped for real work.

Despite the obvious unease you endured tonight, Erick, that was a useful airing of the Hollywood idiocracy. Lest anyone be deluded otherwise, that level of intellectual discourse is virtually uniform among the entertainment industry’s personalities under 35 years of age.

  • discerningconservative

It should reflect as a compliment to your conservatism that they needed to balance you with 2 moonbats. While I don’t agree with anything that I have heard Beckel say, I believe that he is true to his convictions and have learned to look past him. That woman was just plain crazy, and I am sorry you had to be subjected to such ignorance.

  • GardenStatePatriot

…any chick who looks like she does gets a reprieve in my book! Hey now! :-P

Seriously, Sean’s Great American Panels are a little weird. I think it’s a segment he needs to trash.

Just be happy Sean didn’t turn every issue into something about himself tonight as he usually does.

  • redstateadmirer

Well…I concur with the others, I lost a few brain cells and want that minute or two back. Rough panel and difficult time to be on in this climate, but way to keep your cool!

I couldn’t help thinking and comparing O’Day to Palin. Both have radical ideas yet clueless at the same time, both good looking (though different generations), and both unbelievably incoherent!

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

Great job, Erick, but man! That had to be painful listening to her. I think even Beckel was more than a little uncomfortable listening to that.

  • archer52

Five year olds and masturbation. Jeez. Of course there will be somebody somewhere who will pause and think, “Hmmm…. maybe they have a point.”

Which always makes me wonder how some people manage to get up in the morning and make it home at night without getting killed through their own incredible stupidity. You know the type.

In one of my posts I defended the politician who wrote years ago that placating the homosexual agenda, as well as, other moral issues would bring damage to America. He is being blasted by the WP and others. (I think he in Virginia) To which I responded this way.

Ask yourself are we better off now, after years of bending to special interests? Are our kids better educated? Safer? Have a better chance at a decent future? Is our world better? Safer? More decent?

Ask yourself had we not bent over backwards and did demand a more conservative life in America, would it had been such a bad place to live?

And ask yourself, which world would you rather raise your kids in. Theirs, or ours.

  • 6eorge Jetson

    1. Any one that watched
    2. Hannity (serving up painful but non-event “eeewwws” isn’t good for ratings
    3. Aubrey O’Day (well, who cares?)
    4. With a very, very weak association, the Left (it’s not like it’s news that some idiots support them…to be forgotten by tomorrow)

  • 6eorge Jetson

Take away the make-up/stylist and I bet she’s average at best

  • 6eorge Jetson

  • redstateadmirer

Agreed. The makeup was really caked on there wasn’t it? I’d rather go camping with Palin.

Can’t believe I did that twice in the same post. Always happens when it gets late.

  • Warrior

The net was down at work all day, so last night I had to finish some responses I didn’t get to during the day.

I also am sorry you had to sit next to the airhead and the deluded — that bunch is almost too painful to watch, I can’t imagine having to be there and endure it in person.

I agree with the above poster. Hannity needs to sack the Great American Panel and institue the Great Truth Panel.

After the Obasm the teachers at my kids’ school had last year, I couldn’t stand to look at ‘art” on the walls outside their classrooms. Here we go again.

Heh, This is really getting around…..Only the left can stroke it, err spin it like this.

First – Here is the link to the UN report.

    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/in-hannitys-america-talking-about-masturbation-with-playboy-model-is-news/

“Last night on his Great American Panel, he featured FNC regular and longtime Democratic strategist Bob Beckel, right-wing regular Erick Erickson of RedState.com?and Playboy cover model and ?singer? Aubrey O?Day. The conversation, inevitably, moved to masturbation.

But despite confused glances from Beckel and Erickson throughout the lengthy segments, O?Day was well spoken and knowledgeable, especially when discussing a recent UN report on sex education guidelines.”

  • r0per

That was a waste of 15 minutes. Did you at least get to give Ms. Boobs a copy of Laura Ingraham’s book, “Shut Up & Sing”?

I had a wonderful life right up until I learned everything there was to learn about the adult world. Then the stress and heartache of reality set in. I was an adult.

Just think, someone could have flooded my young brain with the liberal agenda at the tender age of five, and I could have enjoyed the horrors of the real world fifteen years sooner……..I feel cheated.
