EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Tune your radio to Sean Hannity

With Obama’s numbers falling, Sean Hannity is going to have Scott Rasmussen on at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the polling trends.

I was surprised today to wake up and see the Drudge headline about Obama’s popularity. Very, very interesting. And Rasmussen has been tracking the trend for a while.

This should make for a very interesting interview.

People are waking from their stupor only to find an empty suit.

    Republicans?
I was looking on his site today and we’re still at the same place, Republicans are even more unpopular! Does anyone have some history on this? In particular, is there a lag time between when a popular president starts tanking and the rise of the opposing party? It’s concerning because I don’t see the Republican’s gaining any ground…although, it looks like we are in a lot better position in some of state races than we were a couple months ago!

Rasmussen has the Republican party being out of touch by a rather large amount of republicans and independents. Not surprisingly the biggest problem seems to be that they are too liberal and they need to stand on their principles instead of working with the liberals. If we don’t step up we could end up getting creamed, especially since it sure seems to me that we do a better job cleaning out our own as we have less people who just blind vote the party line as the democrats do.

they just can’t seem to find their voice or something. To their defense, they don’t often get the microphone from the MSM.

…and yet the Democrats still kicked our ass in that election and the one last year.

The numbers for Republicans might look bad, but when you see the individual races out there, the prospects for 2010 look sensational.

There will be a major shift back to the GOP next year; everbody sees that. The question is whether the party will see the mandate and embrace the Constitution as a guide for governance. The Tom Ridges and Lindsey Grahams aren’t gonna cut it.

The “Do you like [this party]?” questions are pretty much meaningless and silly.

The “[Which party] do you intend to *vote* for?” question is the important one – on that one, it’s R+5%.

The only thing I can conclude from results from the former type questions is that the GOP should campaign on relatively modest goals if they win in 2010, and work on (re)building trust when they get in office.

The last thing they should do is promise ‘pie in the sky’, only to fail bring that about should they take office.

…for validation is like the gang at Cheers finishing their softball season second from the botton, and joyously chanting, “We’re not the worst! We’re not the worst!”

We need to be a POSITIVE alternative. Silence and/or timidity from Republicans is not going to get us anywhere. What we must focus upon is a strong core of conservative principles AND the ability and willingness to articulate same.

Nobody ever gets really enthused over the home town team playing defense all the time.
