EDITOR OF REDSTATE

A Black Man Became a Walking Red Herring Tonight

This was not a speech worthy of a national night of media coverage before a joint session of congress.

This was a partisan speech full of rubbing Republicans’ noses in his legislative policy preferences.

Americans tonight are suffering pre-traumatic hemorrhoid disorder, knowing Barack Obama’s government is about to rape their wallets, destroy their wages, and force government healthcare down our throats.

We were treated to a vainglorious, pompous ass playing politics with healthcare while accuses everyone else of playing politics. And he spent the whole hour lying through his teeth.

Barack Obama has signed on in toto to the Democrats’ healthcare plan, including a public option. He said that the plan won’t fund abortions. But it will. In fact, the Democrats specifically cut out of the legislation clear language to prevent funding of abortions. Moreso, the Hyde Amendment, which Barack Obama hides behind, would not apply to this legislation because the Hyde Amendment only applies to Department of Health and Human Services appropriations and, get this, the Democrats have decided that healthcare expenditures will not be in the HHS budget. Therefore, abortions will be paid for.

More importantly, Barack Obama said the plan will not cover illegal aliens. This is a lie. Joe Wilson was right. The legislation clearly says it will not fund illegal aliens BUT the legislation also prevents anyone from checking on the citizenship status of any person seeking healthcare. He is trying to have it both ways.

The entire speech from Barack Obama was loaded with half-truths and flat out lies. For example, he said he would not force the government option on anyone. But, the legislation provides an incentive for private employers to shove their employees onto the government plan.

Likewise, the President says individuals will be able to keep their insurance even when the switch jobs. That is not true. According to the Democrats’ legislation, if an employee switches jobs, they must get on a government approved plan and then can never get off it.

The President also tried to claim that this $900 billion plan will not add to the deficit. He will pay for it without tax increases he said. He said, instead, he’ll save money by reforming present healthcare. Why not do that now? Even so, the Congressional Budget Office says the total savings from stamping out waste, fraud, and abuse would barely be a dent in the overall costs of the legislation.

The President was short on details, high on rhetoric, and much too partisan on this issue. He wants to work across the aisle, but on his terms with a pre-existing failed Democrat plan.

Whatever the President did not accomplish tonight, he waved around the cadaver named Ted Kennedy as a distraction. It is a good thing Ted Kennedy drank as much as he did, because his corpse held up well as Obama dragged it through the aisles of the House of Representatives like Achilles dragging Hector across the plains of Troy. It was a disgusting display of distraction by a man who has staked his Presidency on the destruction of the American healthcare system.

We must help him fail.

he told lie, after lie, after lie. I was more aware of a large Hillary, in her Red Pantsuit, in the front row. I thought the speech was supposed to be 35 minutes, which was another lie by the MSM. What a puke!

when he compared “the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars” to healthcare.

This veteran thinks that is subliminal language for defense cuts. Coming to to a republic near you.

I’ll beleive that this plan won’t cover aboirtions as soon as someone tells me the page and paragraph where abortions are excluded. Likewise, I’ll beleive that there won’t be funding for illegals as soon as someone can give me the page and paragraph where there’s a specific exclusion *and* provision for enforcement.

As for the Death Panels, there won’t be any in the original proposal – those will come about as part of a gradual bureacratic glacial drift in response to rising costs and budget cuts.

I saw a news story that said Obama wrote the first draft of this speech last weekend, then gave it to his speechwriters to “pretty up”. The last time I heard that he actually wrote his own speech was the State of the Union address. Both that speech, and the one tonight were rhetorical disasters (not even including the myriad of lies in both). Barack Obama must believe his own press clippings. He thinks because he is thought of as a great speaker that he must also be a great speechwriter! At least most actors have the good sense to leave the writing to the writers!

we’re expected to believe a Democrat-controlled Congress, with deep divisions in its ranks, will put together a bill that will keep everything the same for those who have health insurance through their jobs, Medicare, Medicaid, or the VA; mandate coverage of pre-existing conditions; ban caps on coverage; mandate coverage of routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies; offer health insurance to 30 million uninsured; provide tax credits for small businesses; painlessly mandate coverage for the young healthy uninsured; provide hardship waivers; provide choice and competition; keep insurance companies honest; avoid taxpayer subsidies for public option plans; keep out illegal immigrants; not pay for abortions; and not deny care to the elderly because of cost-benefit analyses, all while not adding one dime to our deficits ? either now or in the future.

Buckle up, folks, and prepare for Government-run utopia!

was the only truth I heard last night.

Besides blaming Republicans, he further bashed talk radio, Beck in particular, and attempted to discredit Sarah Palin. In doing so, he further solidified the oppostion to his agenda!

We have a Designated Speech Reader.

Anybody besides me think David Axelrod is really the President?

I could not watch because I find Mr. Obama boring.

I am guessing that, like me, most Americans were watching tennis at about this time.

Obama was 15 minutes late for his own speech and then ran over budgeted time by 42%.

In the speech he showed little imagination using the word lie, lying or liars a number of times.

He laid out major points that are technically correct, but are in application (fact) wrong: Says illegals not covered yet removed verification provision, Says abortions not covered yet clear language refused, Says waste, fraud & abuse will cover much of cost yet refuses to correct now, Says he wants free markets and competition yet won’t allow interstate competition among insurance companies.

This is how our health care will be: late, over budget, ineffective, overwhelmed by illegals, corrupt without competition or innovation and no one to call.

Joe Wilson’s outburst was indeed inappropriate solely because of where it took place. Don?t forget – - just before this occurred Barack Obama called Sara Palin a “Liar” (Death Panel Comment). True to form, John McCain ducked back into the alley and allowed his selected VP running mate to be verbally assaulted. Where is the man?s decency? John McCain is such a disappointment – - He sadly is in self glorification and political preservation mode! What a shame!!

I’m not sure but haven’t we already seen a very similar scenario in Germany in the 1940′s. My wife has a better memory than I do and when we see an old movie she very quickly says “we’ve already seen this” but Sometimes I get over half way through the movie before I begin to remember the storyline and then I remember how it ends. This time I’m beginning to catch on a little sooner. I hope myself and my family and all America that we have caught on in time.

HR3200, Pg. 768: Nurse home visits funded for the purpose of increasing birth intervals between pregnancies. Does anybody think that won’t cover abortions because the word is not explicitly used?

There is also more on the subject of my diary that I missed when writing it up. It is ever the practice of these massive bills to put sections in piecemeal to make it so confusing that it is hard to make sense of the whole.

yet I thought it was them in Congress that help cause the economic downfall. The past 10 years can be blame on Congress with their over spending with pork projects. The war is the only thing I feel should be paid for, to defend for our safety and allow us to “pursue” our happiness. I have been observing the president preaching others on partisan game while he does the same if not worst. There are some out here calling themselves Republicans wanting this current plan as long as we can stop the partisanship. I guess there is a price for anything, including our freedom. Then they went on to say I “hope” it will really help everyone. People, if you don’t believe in your individual right then don’t call yourself Republicans. The price tag of our freedom is too high for universal health care. People that don’t value their freedom should really not call themselves American. “Land of the free” is not everything is free for you, it is “free” to pursue happiness.

This was my first time to participate in the election, to tell you all the truth, I was not even going to vote at all. After hearing about our candidate Obama past and current views of America, Such as building a “private army” and this government option health care, I got involve. Normally I would not even come to site like this, but “freedom” is too valuable to me. I must voice my opinions and support the idea of less government and more individualism.

That when he talks about inheriting a “One-Trilllllian Dollllllar Defecit” it sounds cute and tiny to us right about now?

That framing accusations of partisanship with partisan attacks is pretty noticeable?

That the 2008 election ended, he won, and is supposed to stop campaigning now?

That constantly griping in public about talk show hosts and commentators is beneath the office of the President?

That some of us who aren’t with the “in crowd” are listening for his double-entendres and understand what he really intends when he emphasizes phrases like “means to an end” repeatedly?

The only reason the Liberals kept jumping up and down so much was to stay awake! For some reason, I am getting the feeling that the Liberal Democrats are beginning to move away from their own lies. The one promise that Obama made, however, was the transparency, because the American people are finally seeing Obama for what he is, a puppet for the Liberal power players. If you check into GE, George Soros and the Tides Foundation as I did, you will find the basis for Obama’s whole platform:

Interesting, very interesting, and it should scare the devil out of you unless you are a Liberal. Our nation is on one slippery slope right now and the American people should be honing in on every piece of legislation that Congress and Obama are trying to sneak into law. Don’t forget, it isn’t only the basic bills that may hurt us, it is all of the added provisions which have nothing to do with the basic bills. These are pork infested and very costly to the taxpayers. Usually, the strongest support comes from those who have the most to gain!

“Obama was 15 minutes late for his own speech and then ran over budgeted time by 42%”

Obama cannot be “late” for his speech, or anything else for that matter. Don’t you understand that if the Sun and Moon revolve around His Narcissistic Highness, then Time must also “bend to his will”?

“In the speech he showed little imagination using the word lie, lying or liars a number of times.”

He doesn’t HAVE to show any imagination. He is OBAMA. And he reads a teleprompter almost better than anybody. That is sufficient. I am curious, though, since I just couldn’t stand to watch him (again!) last night, when he was using lie, lying or liars so much, he WAS talking about Democrats in Congress, right?

“He laid out major points that are technically correct, but are in application (fact) wrong.”

He is not only a Chicago-style, slick politician but also a lawyer and can therefore parse the meaning of words with the best of them. He may even be better at it than Bill Clinton. Therefore, he can say things which are technically correct, while at the same time actually meaning something totally different, if not the almost exact opposite. He did it all during the campaign…..and he’s still doing it. And he will continue to do it, untill and unless people do to him exactly what I was told he said about others — call him out when he lies.

The SC senator who called Obama out during the speech was wrong to do it in that venue at that time, but he was right on the mark about doing it. At least he showed more backbone than anyone else, including such as McCain and other near RINOs who show so much deference to the office of the president that they almost become apoligists for the one currently occupying it who shouldn’t even be there. I just wish Joe Wilson had not apologized, especially not to Rahm “Run Amok” Emanuel. Instead, issue a public statement saying you’re sorry you let your passion for the real truth momentarily overwhelm your sense of decorum and let it go at that.

Wasn’t it Lenin who said ” words are just tools to accomplish your plan”. It doesn’t matter whether they are true or false. They are just tools.
Never in my life, have I heard so many lies, broken promises and just plain old bull excrement flowing from the lips of man who we are supposed to admire and respect.Obama should be in the Guinness Book of World records. But I assure you, this is just business as usual with him. This person and his gang of Union thugs should be charged with sedition and treason. Say Amen right there.
