Supporting the Conservative Fighting Four

I won’t call this the “screw the NRSC” fundraiser, but I’m sorely tempted.

Each of you has a favorite Senate candidate this cycle. Here are four guys we want to see in the Senate. Let’s try to raise them $250,000.00 in the next 20 days.

Click on the guy you like, learn a little about him, and give him some money. Together, we can move the Senate right.

I get the sense that it’s a foregone conclusion – even among many of the Redstate faithful – that John McCain is going to cruise to victory in the AZ primary no matter what, and I’ve been told as much by other Redstate bloggers in recent posts. Be that as it may, what can it hurt to encourage contributions to Simcox in order to at least give him a fighting chance against McCain – especially after McCain’s outrageous reaction to Joe Wilson’s stand against Obama last week.

Are we writing off the Arizona primary as another slam dunk for McCain? I hope not, but if we are, then I guess that’s exactly what will happen. Very frustrating.

I will see what I can spare and try to parcel it out to all four.

I actually like calling it the screw you NRSC donations.

he’s just highlighting these four this time…. but I think Erick’s right on in that we need to support our Conservative Candidates (the Diary) directly (and in that Diary I mention the fight against McCain in Primary) as well as contributing to Conservative PACs that will take the Fight in the direction we’d prefer it to go rather than ANY of the affiliated Official Republican fundraising mechanisms. (see too: creating an NRSC: Daily Dimes Dichotomy and RNC called, I hung up!)…. We have to send them the message WE DO NOT APPROVE of the way they have been handling things and until we see them doing better we intend to bypass them!!!!

however, from everything I’ve read here, and elsewhere, no one will touch the stodgy old compromiser. The Joe Wilson reaction is only one of many disgusting displays he has done, and will continue to do in the future. When the camera pnned on him, in Obama’s glorious hour, the smile could not have been wider or more authentic, and he sure threw that thumb up in support of Obama real quick. But, getting rid of him would have been like trying to vote Ted Kennedy out of his seat. He’s just one of those sorry facts that we are stuck with. Not even the utter disgust that so many felt with him as our sorry a$$ candidate can touch him. Sad, very sad.

  • http://impudent.blognation.us/blog kyle8

no one can challenge him. We will have to wait till he joins his “dear friend” Ted Kennedy.

  • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

I’ve sent to Toomey and Rubio already as well as Simcox, still waiting for the attacks on Wilsons’ site to cease so I can give there, and will certainly be looking at the other 2 Erick has mentioned here as well as others as we discuss them all the way up to the Primary and then on to helping more for the General Election.

We have to help fund whomever is the opponent of Prince Harry in NV…. Some House races (Joe Wilson for one) that need some National Conservatives help…. Some Governor races (Kasich, in OH, for one IMO)…. and again Conservative PACs….

I have ZERO intention of helping any of the Official Republican mechanisms and encourage others to go the DIRECT (of Candidates and indirect through Conservative PACs FUNDING ONLY approach) – Conservative Candidates (the Diary).

explaining what and why we are doing it will get their attention better: creating an NRSC: Daily Dimes Dichotomy – for those that hadn’t seen that elsewhere or above.

not sure how that happened, but please delete the duplicate for me. Is there a way I can delete these myself in the future?

As best as I can tell, the other three (DeVore, Toomey and Williams) are likely to be the favorites in their Republican Primaries, does anyone have any information otherwise?

Also, is there any problem with giving money to Williams given that theoretically, his candidacy is for a 2012 run since KBH hasn’t yet resigned?

  • Section9

The Bend Over and Grab Your Ankles Senate wants our money?

Not on thin dime! Great idea, Eric. However, I heard that Williams’ primary opponent is David Dewhurst, the Lt. Gov. who apparently has gobs of cash and has a lock on the nomination, at least according to what one Texan friend of mine says.

As much as I like Marco, I’m still not sure about his chances against Charlie. YET, there may be a chance that Crist peaked early. The appointment of LeMeiux was probably a blunder, given the fact that LeMeiux was a Crist toady. Appointing someone like Jim Scott (or, say, Bobby Bowdern ^_^) would have been the safer bet.

After the NRSC backed off of support for Norton, now the Denver Post is trying to pre-select our candidate for us. The netroots in Colorado is fairly unanimous that Ryan Frazier has the best chance to unseat Michael Bennet. He just needs money to get some name recognition and get his message out to more Coloradans.

Michael Williams is an excellent choice for Texas Senate. Right now, I think the only thing that could stop him is KBH deciding her chances in the Gov race are not good and staying put in the Senate.

By the way, I’m in one of those house districts that will switch from D to R this year (Texas 17). When the House version of this rolls around, keep us in mind :) . It’s in my signature …

  • eburke

than Buck, the only other announced candidate.

Not only that, then the ‘racist’ party can have 2 African-American candidates and we can watch the MSM’s collective heads explode.

Better yet – I have a dream…..to see Senator Byrd at a Senate luncheon flanked on both sides by Senators Williams & Frazier.

    Heh. Heh.

  • http://www.nighttwister.com NightTwister

Apparently, the NRSC is going to backdoor their endorsement of Jane Norton. We simply cannot allow Washington insiders to dictate our candidate to us. The grassroots backlash against Norton will be significant, and if this doesn’t stop it will guarantee another 6 years of Democrat control of both Colorado Senate seats.

  • http://www.nighttwister.com NightTwister

Cleve Tidwell, and now Jane Norton are candidates. Tom Wiens has an exploratory committee.

I like Ken Buck, I really do, but I honestly believe only Ryan Frazier has the right platform to win during this cycle.

On Toomey. Guy’s not a genuine Conservative. If anything, he’s a squishy Moderate like John McCain. Toomey is squishy on Abortion, supported Sonia Sotemayor for SCOTUS, and does not support the Independent Audit the Fed Bill that will be put up for a vote in October. Peg Lusisk is the real Conservative in this race, and she needs our support in this race in order to win. Many people have dismissed her as unelectabe. Well, she’s unelectable if you don’t give her the chance to prove herself. Sure I thought she was unelectable for some time, but what really matters is getting real Conservatives in office such as Peg Lusisk, Marco Rubio, Chuck DeVore, Michael Williams, John Oxendine, Ryan Frazier, Ovide LaMontage, Tom Graves, and Peter Schiff, not “electable” candidates such as Pat Toomey, Charlie Crist, Carly Fiorina, Elizabeth Ames Jones, Karen Handel, Jane Norton, Kelly Ayotte, Lee Hawkins, and Rob Simmons. Conservative candidates get things done, “electable” candidates embarass our party. If you want to hold these seats, you must reform your party. That is all.

  • eburke

NRSC, encourage my politically active friends to do the same, and send back every postage paid envelope back with a note in it expressing my ‘displeasure’ with the National RINO Senatorial Committee.

  • pfarrer

Please consider adding Ryan Frazier to this one or the next one. It was revealed today that the NRSC is raising money for tax-hiking, wash-up Jane Norton after explicitly lying to everyone in the state and saying they weren’t going to intervene.

  • aesthete

Esp. under this administration. If you think that you’ll get anything but a tool that populist/statist economic illiterates can use to bash monetary policy as a whole and conservatism with, you’ve got another thing coming. On abortion, the cases where a pol has to vote on an abortion bill are exceedingly rare, and the big legislative one (Partial Birth act) has already gone through. Essentially, it comes down to judges, and even though Toomey’s less than stellar on that issue, his fiscal and foreign policy stances (which will come up for debate far more often than a SC nomination) are fantastic.

  • Return to Revolution

I hear you on your basic point but I’m still struggling to put Toomey in the same camp as folks like Charlie Crist. I’ve been using ACU’s ratings a lot since I haven’t followed individual pols that closely in the past. Based on the numbers I see, it does look like I will have to do some more thorough research. At first glance, Toomey looks like a solid conservative: he has a lifetime ACU score of 92 (out of 100). At the same time they also gave Santorum a lifetime rating of 87, which I think is high.

  • Mayhem

Is there any way to get that tacked up to the top of the page? And maybe get it to also show the dollars donated so far?

  • redtillimdead

How does donating to Pat Toomey and Michael Williams say screw the NRSC? Toomey was endorsed by NRSC and they haven’t made any sort of comment in TX.

  • The_Gadfly

He isn’t the “electable” candidate, he is the conservative candidate. He’s the one who twice went up against Specter in the primary. And once again this cycle the NRSC was set to endorse his opponent, Snarlen Arlen, except that after looking at his internal polling numbers, Snarlen decided to jump ship. After the first fight, in which the Republican leadership told Santorum to knife Toomey in the back, Toomey went off and founded a PAC that has supported and helped conservative candidates win elections. Which is more than I can say for Snarlen.

Yeah, I would have voted differently on Cuba and Medicare prescription drug benefit, but I don’t consider Cuba essential. While I feel more strongly about Medicare, I also know PA is a graying commonwealth and no elected politician for it is going to vote against that constituency. We can’t let the perfect become the obstacle to significant improvement. Toomey is a heck of a lot better than half a loaf, or voting right once a term. And the comparison to McCain is simply beyond the pale.

  • chong

Lets not hope or wish him harm, we can encourage others to vote him out. My reason for wanting him out is simply he has been too long, any good intentions he or other political leaders had is probably long gone. Now they are just there for the money and power. That is the unfortunate failure of mankind. That quote comes to mind “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”, that probably describe most if not all our the political “leaders” or servants.

  • chong

Just wondering out loud. Shouldn’t we try to focus on a strong state governor who can clean the state up and then get our states to demand for our rights back. If I am following this correctly, states used to have lot more power than federal. They had been selling our rights away as more money was being ask for to help with “emergencies”. If we can get the states to self sustaining, we won’t be needing help from the federal government. Shrinking the government is on all of us, that include the conservatives from all spectrum of politic. Texas sounds like it is on its way, I will work to get Georgia toward that. Hope all of you will do the same.

Easiest way to fix Washington right now, vote them all out for this cycle. They can attempt to come back the cycle after next, when they have re-evaluated their principles.
