EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Who is Ed Schultz?

I’ve never heard of the guy, but apparently Ed Schultz is an MSNBC host. It should come as no surprise that he is engaging in a level of hyperbole that MSNBC, CNN, and the rest of the MSM gang would be blowing up as the lead story had a Republican done it.

Look, if you will, at what they do every time Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, or Glenn Beck says something “controversial.”

Schultz, talking about healthcare, went after Eric Cantor, who he no doubt hates because Cantor is Jewish. Parlaying his Cantor hate into his hate of the GOP, Schultz said, “Hold it right there! The Republicans lie! The want to see you dead. They’d rather make money off your dead corpse. They kind of like it when that woman has cancer and they don’t have anything for her.”

Hey Ed, why don’t you hold it right there. We all know that if any conservative host had said this it would be assailed on the front page of the New York Times.

Of course, the problem here is we don’t know whether this is media bias against Republicans or if it is because the media, like me, does not know who the hell this Schultz guy is.

For eight years now, Republicans have taken the higher road. I’ve watched as the far left has denigrated, slurred, and pulverized the right with every slinky smear tactic they could muster. I was of the opinion this kind of over the top hyperbola would isolate these people. Instead, they are emboldened by the lack of response from the right. They now think they are the rulers of the universe because we haven’t spoken out and pointed out their hypocrisy and hate. This is why I’ve started speaking out and using their rhetoric against them. This is why we all must not stoop, but answer, their vicious, vile and silly accusations and slander. Standing above it only works for the actual politicians. The rest of us must speak out and call them out for their vitriol. It is our duty as American citizens to engage, not necessarily on the public level, but at least on the private level. Thanks for the post. It reminds me of my own reticence when courage is demanded.

I just have one question for Mr. Schultz:

If the Republicans want to profit from dead people, how come it was the Democrats who reinstated the death tax?

  • billyd

You see. In order for us (The Evil Republicans) to profit, we need a client base. A group of customer that will continually purchase our product. And when a person dies, they are no longer a customer. However… It would be extremely profitable for a person to develop a cure for cancer as it would generate huge profits, and people who have cancer tend to get it multiple times. My mother has already had it 3 times. My grandmother twice. That would be 5 instances in which money could be made.
Of course, as a republican, we also understand that while a person is alive, they can earn money through work, and use that money to grow the economy and increase the wealth of everyone that is part of that economy. Hence, death is the worst thing possible when trying to increase your fortune. Unless of course you rely on a “Death Tax” to generate you income.

Now of course, there is always the possibility that Schultz is projecting his personal views onto others because deep inside, he really hates himself. Or he could just hate Jews and watching his idol Ahmadinejad on TV yesterday may have gotten him all fired up, and led to his Gadaffi style rant.

  • smitch61

He is on radio, and always spewing his rhetoric. He is for all intense purposes.. a complete idiot.

  • badnewzbearz

he’s a failed Air America host, which makes him perfect for MSNBC – or perhaps the U.S. Senate.

  • commonsensephilosophy

Here’s an FYI on Ed Schultz (so far as I know, I am the only one who calls him “Pink Ed”, but everyone is free to borrow it)

I BELIEVE that he was a jock at one of the universities (there are two) on North Dakota’s left (east) coast. I do not know what he got for a degree (or even if he ‘gradjeated’), so I will not cast unverified basketweaving comments.

He started out life as a SPORTSCASTER at a Fargo TV station and, interestingly enough, he entered talk radio as a CONSERVATIVE at a Fargo station. Basically, he tried to play “Local Rush” but, as you folks can see, he is not really able to formulate a thought, let alone develop an argument based on reasoning applied to facts. As a result, he didn’t make it very far with the conservative audience, so he apparently decided that leftism was a better venue.

He did a local pink show, then I think he went to Air America (or an equivalent), then he wound up back on a “regional” show, then he got called up to MSNBC. The revealing (and pathetic) thing is that a guy with so little in either the arena of background or the arena of sheer mental capability could advance so far so quickly (yes, I know, MSNBC has 12 viewers, but when it comes to lefto-pink talk TV, it’s about as good as it gets).

In case there is anyone who is bored enough to look into it, I will point out that I got a very strong smell of GROOMING from him from the very start of his leftist career. This is nothing beyond a suspicion, but it makes sense: if some Soros-type was looking to groom a left-wing populist talker, they’d probably zero in on someone like Pink Ed because they probably figure that his level of intellect would be a good fit for the stupid, conservative masses. He is also reliable from the perspective of vomiting the appropriate party line without question because, as you all have seen, he cannot reason much of anything out on his own.

Obviously, all of the above is nothing but mean-spirited conservative nastiness (i.e. an honest analysis of his minimal qualifications and capabilities).

  • SteveLA

I’ve caught Ed when he was on AA or like you say the AA light channel on XM. He’s all you say, with some gun loving, hunting dog populism thrown in along with being Pro Union in the Rust belt sense of that term.

I do then to think he went Far Left(er) to get on the with the likes of Racial MadCow and Oberdog, but last time I listened to him he was not Randy Rhodes nuts.

  • Jack_Savage

He was reading a quote off the monitor and got a little confused. First, here is what the sanitized transcript says – the quoted part is what he read:

“And ?The New York Times? wrote that the president of the United Steelworkers, Leo Gerard, is ?often viewed as the number one scourge of free traders.?

Well, I support that. I support that scourge and all the millions of Americans that are going to be affected by this. In fact, I?m going to bring him in right now.”

Of course, the idiot read “scourge” as “Scrooge”, then repeated “Scrooge” when he said “I support that Scrooge…”

He’s stupid AND crazy. Pefect for MSNBC’s lineup.

I was driving around Lake Tahoe years ago when his show was on and he led off his show with proof he had that GW lied about WMD.

It was my vacation and Lake Tahoe is not bad to just drive around, so I did; for his entire show.

He kept teasing that he had proof and would be telling the audience soon, the whole show he did this.

He never gave one example of proof, in either 2 or 3 hours; i forget now.

Now, I have no doubt; he can cite some source today to back him up; but then he had nothing.

Anyone citing MSNBC as a credible source with Shultz, Maddow and Keith; just cannot be taken seriously. I know Matthews is in the tank and is happy to be; but I actually feel sorry for the guy.

  • Jack_Savage

According to the transcript, Einstein greets Gerard with, “Hey Scrooge, how are you doing, buddy?”

    IDIOT.

  • pauly1620

that he is the left’s version of Rush. However, after listening to him for more than 25 seconds you’ll realize this man has zero talent, ability, or any concept of the reality the rest of us live in on a daily basis. As with many on that side of the aisle, Ed believes ego and arrogance equate to confidence and talent. We of course know better.

  • DWS

at the President’s press conferences. Amazing. The Administration has got to pull Ed’s creds after today’s remarks….don’t they?

“Mr. Obama’s press conference this evening is also notable for the varied number of news organizations given seats.

“Major U.S. news organizations were limited to one seat each. Among those also getting a seat: 538.com, Gray Communications, Air America, Ed Schultz (liberal radio talk show host), Al Jazeera, Essence, Saudi Press Agency, Scoop44.com and America Blog.”

It takes away the initial argument from libs than you don’t even listen to liberals anyway. I heard him literally scream that the Teabaggers and 9/12ers want Obama to be killed (p).

Rush is a blowhard but entertaining and he uses sound bites and facts to bolster his argument. Schultz just screams. Old adage: “The louder the argument the weaker the logic”

I have started to hear a different Schultz on talk radio. He is the guy who played “Mad Dog Murdock” on the A Team. He’s actually pretty good , has his stuff together and delivers it in an entertaining manner as well.

  • theduck6

Why not cut the crap and give him a regular time slot and make him compete in the market? Oh sorry Marxist don’t compete, do they?

  • MassRep.

You forgot to mention the day he went duck/goose hunting with a dog and returned without a dog??? Hmmm I wonder what happened…anger management, might be needed.

  • throwback59

That’s like saying someone is not David Patterson incompetant
-talk about a bach handed complement.

  • throwback59

    that’s “back-handed”

When I got my new/used car last January, I spent some time checking out the couple of months of sample paid radio. I ended up clicking on talk radio – left several times. I wanted to check out the other side. My first try netted me with Ed Shultz. Nearly his entire show that first day consisted of him spewing vitriol toward Rush Limbaugh. He quoted Rush more in that hour than Rush speaks in an hour – and that is a lot! I found it hilarious that I finally listened to left talk radio and about all I heard was right talk radio. Of course, he would follow each quote telling us what a wicked man Rush is,

The reason I say my car was new/used is that it was not a pre-owned (new), but since it had sat on the lot for a year and half, it was “used.” (The warranty time was decreased by a year and a half.)

I have been reading about old Ed on the blog ‘The Radio Equalizer, by Brian Maloney. Brian disects old Ed frequently.

  • baldego

That’s a pretty harsh claim to throw out there. Any proof to back that up?

  • Aaron Gardner

an angry black man. Didn?t see that coming!

Are you going to retract you comment implying that either:

    A. You think Black men are inherently angry

    or

    B. You think Erick Erickson is racist.

  • baldego

in my previous post. That was a dig on Babbin’s piece that basically trotted out the tired “angry black man” stereotype. Perhaps too subtle. As a fairly happy black man, I definitely don’t think we’re all inherently angry. I don’t think Erick’s a racist, either, but at least post a link to an anti-semitic rant or something if you’re going to say the man hates Jews.

  • Aaron Gardner

But you are completely unaware of Erick’s sarcasm and claim he should back it up with a link.

    See how that works.

This slow thinker is on the radio here, and has been for a couple of years, anyway. He’s on a station that can only be heard if your car is driving in certain spots around town.

He was an early critic of Hillary and a supporter of Obama. He went apoplectic when Rush “endorsed” Hillary in Pennsylvania. His own criticisms of Hillary were similar to everything the Republicans said about Bill Clinton when he was President.

I’ve been long suspicious that the most ardent Obama supporters are themselves supported by George Soros. How else does a talentless buffoon from Fargo, N.D., get syndicated outside his local area?

I’ve never mentioned him here before (I think) because he doesn’t deserve the recognition. He’s less talented than Keefums, and almost as irrational. In short (and I’ve listened to him enough to know), only by virtue of someone else’s money and the shallowness of liberal listeners can he stay on the air. He isn’t making any converts.
