Obama made the Olympics bid personal by going there amid much pomp and circumstance, with Michelle and Oprah as his opening acts. The Roland Martins of the media now seek to distance their hero from this humiliating defeat, but you know that had Chicago been chosen, they would be showering praise on him for his dynamic leadership and taxpayer-funded trip to Copenhagen. It would have been a solid Obama victory (with some help from the little people), and his public pushing aside of the recent Afghanistan and economic downturns would have been justified (to them).

I find it amusing that this “Republicans hate America” meme is being tried out once again, as if every single US citizen was rooting for Chicago to win the bid, except for the evil conservatives. Local polls before the visit indicated that support for the effort amongst Chicagoans themselves was slipping fast,split nearly down the middle.

Roland and his pals had the shining editorials ready for print on Friday afternoon and got caught with their pants down. They obviously did not anticipate defeat as a likely outcome with Obama and his charm on the scene, which helps explain their desperate, ham-fisted talking points - a mere rehash of the attacks on Rush Limbaugh for his “I hope he fails” commentary a few months back.

The left should have actually been rooting for Obama to get rejected too. This was a real teachable moment for him. This presumptuous neophyte actually thinks he can charm anyone into anything. I guess he figures if he can beguile the average American voter into thinking he’s a moderate reformer from Chicago, he can persuade anyone into believing anything. This experience will serve him well if he had himself convinced that could sweet talk Iran and NK out of nukes. It won’t work.

If you want to know what Obama eat for breakfast, just ask Roland. It will pass him by sometime in the late afternoon on it’s way out.

Obama played this one very badly. Heads of state involve themselves in the Olympic site selection process, but do so in the behind-the-scenes politics — not in a PR stunt like this. If you want your country to be a serious contender, you play the IOC, not the cameras.

We are already broke. We don’t need to go to the circus. The bread is expensive enough.

I remember at the Minneapolis convention Giuliani gave the keynote speech and really ripped community organizers; afterwards Roland Martin jabbered about the glories of community organizers all night on CNN.

Since I NEVER watch any news but 2 hours of Fox daily…I miss the biased pseudojournalism…we all should do the same…spend more time Faxing the royal congress and informing each other…
