Dede Scozzafava is the woman some Republicans call a “new style of Republican” who is going to help usher in a new Republican revolution.
Not likely. Even the Wall Street Journal has caught on.
Republicans are telling themselves that a political wave is building that could carry them to big election gains next year. Judging by their performance so far in a special election in New York, however, they deserve to wander in the minority for another generation or two. . . .
Democrats want to portray this race as a familiar moderate-conservative GOP split, but the real issue is why Ms. Scozzafava is a Republican at all. She has voted for so many tax increases that the Democrat is attacking her as a tax raiser. She supported the Obama stimulus, and she favors “card check” to make union organizing easier, or at least she did until a recent flip-flop.She has run more than once on the line of the Working Families Party, which is aligned with Acorn. Her voting record in Albany puts her to the left of nearly half of the Democrats in the assembly. She also favors gay marriage, which is to the left of Mr. Obama.
The GOP does deserve to wander in the wilderness for another few generations if Scozzafava wins.
The NRCC and House Republican leadership needs to focus on crushing the Democrat now instead of building up Scozzafava. Sinking with the ship is not a viable option.

Scam WOW!!! Have you caught it yet?
Scozzafava is burned toast
Scope Wednesday, October 21st at 9:10AM EDT (link)I read an article this morning on NRO where one of the GOP members in her district, that appointed her as the R candidate, said he wasn’t sold on her even before she was choosen, and, now he has come out publically and stated that it was a terrible mistake to make her the candidate. (Just tried to link article but it is gone). There is another article there now, by Mark Steyn, where he states that he is with Fred Thompson, in that a 3rd party conservative can win in NY 23rd. I hope that means that Thompson is directing some of his PAC monies to Hoffman. Styne asks Gingrich to rethink his endorsement of Scozza, but, that is unlikely. Gingrich has done a terrific job at making himself irrelevant, and, he has become just one more elitist has-been Republican. I questioned him last year, during the primaries, when he was contemplating getting into the race. On Hannity’s radio show he made the remark that “the era of Reagan is over.” Then, he sits on the couch with San Fran Nan, and agrees Global Warming is real. Now, he supports a Liberal, even to the left of Obama on some issues. Thank you God he is not in the House or Senate where he could be doing real damage with his votes, rather than just his voice.
Gingrich, McCain, Graham, Snowe, Collins et al need to be steamrolled over by even those Republicans that don’t consider themselves conservatives. God help those that refused to even consider who even Rush considered the “only conservative in the race” Fred Thompson. Imagine where the US would be now, had he become the president, rather than who we do have.
Scozzafava beans
chsw Wednesday, October 21st at 2:44PM EDT (link)I live in this politically dysfunctional state. Most Republicans in NY would be considered moderate Democrats (for Democrats) elsewhere. Most Democrats would be considered socialists, except for those who would be institutionalized as insane.
Scozzafava is not that unusual.
I’m a taxpayer. Where’s MY bailout?
You missed the best quote from the article
scarlos Wednesday, October 21st at 4:59PM EDT (link)“Above all, a defeat would teach Republicans that running candidates who believe in nothing will keep them in the minority for years to come.”
Unfortunately I think the WSJ overestimates the Republican Establishment’s ability to learn from it’s mistakes.
Socialism is Oligarchy in disguise
A liberal is a person who thinks there is no problem that cannot be solved by consolidating more power in their own hands
HEH...that says it all...
