    DOWN SON. CONSERVATIVES ARE BAAAAAAAACK!!!!

  • ciscoguy

Huge win though. Hopefully Hoff can pull it out for the trifecta.

  • ktsub

I am crying in Texas…go Chris Christie…now let them try to steal this thing!

…to have a congressman we could legitimately call:

    The Hoff.

Seriously. That’s like a congressman named Mr. T, or Congressman Texas Ranger.

And Corzine pumped $21M from his own pocket into this race…

Now, NY-23 and CA-10(?) need to come in as good news to make it a great night.

NJ, after being a tease for so long finally seals the deal.

…this says NOTHING, NOTHING about our agenda or our Dear Leader.

  • MacAoidh

    …and justice is done.

The question is whether Christie can govern in a manner which will make this victory meaningful.

  • Darin_H

they learn NOTHING from tonight and keep plowing away at trying to pass their socialist agenda (with the same results they’ve had pushing through health care and cap & tax).

  • Third Street

They said the GOP was DONE! They said we could never again win ANYTHING outside of the deepest SOUTH! And tonight we marched into one of the deepest-blue states in America AND TOOK ITS GOVERNORSHIP AWAY from a guy rich enough to buy any office he wanted!

The Obamachine put everything it HAD into this race! “Yes We Can 2.0″ and all that garbage! They even put Obama’s name above Corzine’s on the campaign posters! AND THEY BLEW IT!

This is exactly what happened at the dawn of 1994!

NANCY AND HARRY, WE ARE COMING FOR YOU AND HELL’S COMING WITH US!

Even if Doug loses, that means very little nationwide. And if the MSM tries to make it that way, they can argue with Chuck Todd of NBC, who basically said that race doesn’t matter one way or the other, all day today. Here’s why:

The circumstances surrounding that race are the goofiest flippin’ thing that anybody can remember in nationwide congressional races, ever. This isn’t an election, or even a special election — this is a Very Special election, with the inmates running the asylum. Seriously, NY-23 means nothing now because of the goofball circumstances that WILL NOT be repeated (even the GOP isn’t that dumb), and because redistricting happens next year, which means NY-23 will change AGAIN (like it always does…).

So while Hoff would be a feather in the Rat Pack hat that we’ve built in New Jersey and Virginia today…it’s still a dead sexy hat, even without a feather :D

  • StuckinBlueJersey

I’m proud of my state tonight, that doesn’t happen to often…

    Come on, Hoffman….

…toward conservatism simply plays up the quality of the leadership in the GOP which allows those goofy circumstances to take place and muck up an otherwise easy hold.

    Heads should roll.

  • JoeG

I thought this was a long shot but I was hopeful.

This is beyond what I imagined possible!!!

  • fotophun

    true conservatism CAN WIN
I imagine the Dems will be coming out with both barrels so this does no happen again
    but the fight is ON!

  • 6eorge Jetson

He who laughs last, lost best.

  • treeofliberty

was it just me or were the networks dragging their feet much more than usual??

In VA McDonnell was up by some 20 points and it took over an hour for the race to be called and in Jersey Christie was up by 100K with 70% in and still no call?!?

Well, whatever , I’ll take a win in a place like Jersey where I get it!

    Just hope Hoffman pulls through.

to have cast a vote in this race.

The NJ PBS commentators are pointing out that Christie promised to “turn Trenton upside down.” The state employee unions will be in his sites. Apparently he not only didn’t seek endorsement of state employee unions and the teachers union… but he didn’t even answer their questionnaires providing his positions.

Are you ready to move to NJ?

  • http://xmmlbchat.blogspot.com katesmith

When I die, my ashes will be thrown in the Atlantic Ocean from my favorite beach in my favorite town on the Jersey Shore. I never thought I’d live to see this day. I even recently posted here that a Republican could only win in NJ if armed police were at every polling station. Bob Grant must be happy this day. A long time coming. Never thought it would happen. Take a hike, Goldman Sachs.

  • Read Chesterton in New Improved Jersey

I once heard a recovering drug addict/alcoholic explain that the reason he decided to get sober was that, one day, he woke up and realized he was living in New Jersey.

Seriously though, you wouldn’t think it, but the reason NJ calls itself the “Garden State” is that it boasted the most productive farms in the US in the 20th century… I don’t know if it still holds, but the NJ Pinelands (where I live) is the biggest contiguous pine forest in the contiguous US. Add to that our beautiful shoreline and a picture of the state becomes much different than the one the media paints.

All those writing NJ off as a superfund site with a turnpike running through it have simply watched too much TV.

  • http://www.marklaiminger.org Lammo

so they couldn’t cheat. Way to go New Jersey! I thank you and America thanks you!!!!!

  • Whitehorse

Christie’s victory is outside the margin of theft! He’s a fairly conservative Republican, & his win in deep blue NJ along with McDonell’s dismantlement of the Dems (along with other statewide races) in NJ is a huge signal to the WH & the rest of the country.

I think we may see an attempt from the WH & Dems leading congress to push through as much as possible, thinking their goose is cooked for 2010.

  • The_Gadfly

but I’ll forgive them for not calling NJ. NJ has a long history of strange things happening with the ballot count. I myself was expecting the numbers to change enough so they’d need to wait for the absentee ballots, and then the inevitable rounds of Lawyers at Ten Paces.

  • proudgop

Its great win and I am happy I headed over from NYC to help out Christie for couple of days.

I am not sure this was a win for Republicans or more of an anti Corzine win and I say that only because Republicans gained 1 seat in the assembly. Many thought they’d gain at least 4 or more
