EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Remember This Data

The Obama administration and the media are together going to downplay today’s electoral victories for the GOP.

They will, to the mainstream media, not be relevant to or any sign of a rebuke against Barack Obama and his far left agenda.

In fact, the media is already beginning the narrative that we cannot see today as a referendum on Barack Obama.

Consider these facts:

New York 23

  • Barack Obama sent Joe Biden to visit.
  • Obama’s White House negotiated Dede Scozzafava’s endorsement of the Democrat.
  • Scozzafava and Owens both supported and campaigned on supporting the stimulus.

New Jersey

  • Obama sent his top pollster to take command of the race.
  • Obama visited multiple times, including the day before the election.
  • Obama is featured in most of Corzine’s advertising.
  • The Democratic Governors Association and DNC all pumped in a ton of money.
  • Corzine ran on helping Obama at the state level.

Virginia

  • The Democratic Governors Association spent $4 million to get Creigh Deeds elected.
  • The Democratic National Committee spent $6 millino to get Deeds elected.
  • Obama campaigned for Deeds multiple times.
  • Organizing for America sent a mail piece to 300,000 “surge voters”, or voters who voted for the first time in 2008, urging them to vote for Deeds.
  • Organizing for America set up phone banks for Creigh Deeds.

The state owned media is going to tell us none of this matters and this was no rebuke of Barack Obama.

Don’t believe it. The facts speak for themselves.

COMMENTS

If we pull off the hat trick tonight with all three winning their heads will explode. The excuses and denials and anger and contempt will be delicious.
    Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Thanks for your hard work Erick.

  • vamoose

The governor’s race is a rematch. McDonnell beat Deeds by a mere 323 votes in the 2005 Attorney General race and Deeds actually led in some polls early this summer. How well McDonnell does should be judged relative to the 2005 result, not the 14.4% lead he showed the most recent opinion polls.

The Washington Post endorsed Deeds over Terry McAuliffe because they felt Terry couldn’t beat McDonnell. Could that endorsement have been made without tacit consent of the White House? I don’t think so.

The GOP has not won all 3 state offices in a long time, not even when George Allen lead the ticket with a 17 point win.

  • Marcus_Traianus

First, you are right and they will try to distance themselves. It’s only natural as they plunge this country further into the darkness with their coupe de grace health care hi-jinks.

However, the old time GOP establishment should also take this as a warning that business as usual will not be the norm any longer. The NRCC? They should elect new leadership. The RNC? Mr. Steele better get the back room dealers by the throat and let them know there is a new sheriff in town. Mitch McConnell? It’s time to think about stepping down and letting some new blood show the way.

Here’s the warning for Republicans, especially conservatives; to read too much into these results will be devastating. We need a coalition- just not one dominated by liberals, ahem, “Moderates”.

That said, traditional Moderates, many of whom are Independents need a seat at the tables when they share and live our core values- that is smaller-less intrusive government, responsible fiscal policy, lower taxes, decreased federal involvement in our schools, responsible-legal immigration and a return to family friendly social values. Only then will we turn the corner. Only then.

  • olddog

There are already rumbling from N.J. about acorn involvement, when two people went to vote and were told their absentee ballots had already been counted, .and they had not requested absentee ballots Obama’s, The reichstag Acorn and s.e.i.u. troops are on the move in all three races. Corzine requested, that even ballots with non-matching signatures be counted , which should be up to county clerks. Are we to have a repeat of Minn. with more votes than registered voters being counted. Freedom requires eternal vigilance. only legitimate voters should be counted only once, in very tight races.

    ONE OLD DOG

  • Right_Again

by the media. An AP article in my morning paper insists that wins by Republicans today “won’t erase enormous obstacles the party faces heading into a 2010 midterm election year…”. One of those enormous obstacles is the AP (along with most of the media) and their willingness to carry water for Obama and the Democrats.

If Republicans do pull off victories in Virginia and New Jersey and especially if a conservative pulls off a victory in NY23 it will be felt as an earthquake in Congress. It will certainly frighten the Blue Dog Dems enough to convince them to pull back from the radical transformation of our nation being pushed by the Obama administration and the liberal wing of their party.

  • http://www.theminorityreportblog.com/blog/loren_heal Socrates

It’s normal for the minority party to make some gains.

The President was focused on the recession, getting Health Care for all Americans and fighting two wars in between rounds of golf.

Republicans have poured money and resources into these contests, and those tactics seem to have worked in these off-the-radar races.

We can do liberal spin better than they can.

  • bk

It spoke as a definitive fact that the only thing known was that the GOP is in disarray. The same article also said it was possible that you might see it as a bad thing for the Dems if they go 0 for 3. They didn’t even try to hide the bias at all.

  • treeofliberty

You better believe if it was the other way around and the Dems were set for 3 big wins in VA, NJ and NY-23 it would clearly be “The American people demanding healthcare reform!!” But since the GOP looks like they will win at least 2/3 it must have “nothing” to do with Obama and obviously be about local issues!

The funny thing is that every single state with a competitive race tonight: VA, NY , NJ , CA what do they all have in common? States that Obama won. If the blue/purple states are kicking out Dems just imagine what’s it looking like for Dems in states that Obama actually lost..

I do believe that media noise aside if healthcare takeover prospects were looking shaky before, if Republicans win all 3 races, it’s dead as the bluedog Dems will be terrified that they’ll be next.

  • larryp

woo whee, it will be the feeding of the multitudes on the mount by Obama the First.
We used to joke that Democrats can vote Wednesdays all day. I readthey are tying a version of that–the old ‘broken machine’ploy.
We ran out of ballots is another one.
Also your name is not in the book, try one of the other precincts.
Remember provisional ballots and absentees are not counted in toto unless it is close. In Calif they are “sampled”
Probably why we are scrod up.

  • izoneguy

Pelosi has as much said she does not care if they lose house seats to get her agenda passed. I wonder if those Bluedogs are ready to walk the plank for their evil leader? I think Pelosi will be slammed hard into the ground and Reid & Obama won’t help pick her up.

  • makemyday

to those out there that don’t follow things as closely as we do, but feel as we do that the country has been hijacked. The results today maybe the first they hear of these races and what the wins in these races mean for the country. Today the pendulum has reached apogee and is now headed in the right direction. Let the real Hope and Change begin!

  • proudgop

If Christie wins it also ends the Bush is boogie man game

Corzine kept on hammering Chrisitie for working under Bush, Rove, Ashcroft etc.

  • themerlin

I think this was missed based on listening to a Carpenter’s Union Member yesterday…they were ordered to hand out Corzine flyers in order to collect any out of work pay. Otherwise they would be fined by the union…if I remember it all correctly.

So at least the Carpenter’s Union is in there helping Corzine as well.

  • scubadiver49er

This is interesting. I copied this article over to an MS Word Document to keep, so I wouldn’t forget today, as requested in the article. When I did a “spell check”, with the word “Obama” underlined in red, one of the two suggested replacements that appeared was “Osama”. Any similarities here?

  • Kyle-MI

    n/t

  • dudette

I agree. However, the party has to stay pro-life in its platform—to me it is sort of like don’t ask, don’t tell.

  • Kyle-MI

The bigger the GOP victory (both in terms of percentage of votes as well as number of GOP candidates winning) the lesser the chance of Obama’s agenda passing. This is why Obama and the Dems are pouring resources into these races and it is why they are prespinning the results.

  • dudette

Socrates, sure they are off year but remember where the races are happening. And take a look at the desperate campaigning that was thrown into the Dems election efforts. That said, I am not hopefUl of a NJ win simply because Corzine is crooked as a dogs hind leg and the absentee ballot thing has the flavor of the Franken race in Min.

  • Kyle-MI

Remember this when they try to play it as those big bad scary social conservatives rocking the boat. Scozzafava was never for fiscal responsibility.

This 6 mill and 4 mill the dems came up with to to get whoever elected, where does this money come from. Is this in any way, a part of this stimulus package. If so can they do that? Also, is there a possibility that these so called republicans are actually democrats that were planted, just waiting for the right moment to make there moves? This really has me concerned how a person can just switch up in the blink of an eye and go to the opposite side. Isnt that like being a spy and getting away with it? where do these people come from? Somebody please enlighten me.

  • memez

Pray harder than you’ve ever prayed before!!!!!!

  • Achance

Hard money can go directly to the campaign and is “supposed” to be strictly voluntary contributions for political purposes, e.g., voluntary PACs, individual contributions, etc. Soft money can be all sorts of stuff but for Democrats it is mostly compelled union dues. Technically, it can’t be used for direct contributions but can be used for “voter education,” GOTV, etc.

That’s the “right” answer. In the real world, all sorts of state and federal funds get laundered through grant and contract programs to Democrat operatives and Democrat front groups, e.g., ACORN, the PIRGs, unions, training firms, all sorts of governmental support services companies, and probably some ways even I don’t know about. Some unions blatantly use dues for hard activities and get away with it in Blue and even in some Red states. Unions are also very skillful at laundering restricted dues money into forms that can be used for contributions and “member eduction” programs.

And lots of people use party affiliation simply as a flag of convenience.

  • OccamsRazor

I guarantee you that the administration advisers this morning are sitting around nibbling on their favorite snacks, sucking down lattes, and brain storming the best way to distance themselves from this data; to summarize it; and deliver it to their Boss when he wakes in 3 hours from now.

  • martyinaz

Yes they are loaded with bias. But their warning is loaded with truth. The GOP leadership has proven they are unable to pick winning candidates. They missed Doug Hoffman by a mile. They waisted $$$$ on the wrong candidate. Hoffman trumped Scorzzafava beans without so much as a nod from top GOP leadership. Maybe AP is telling us to clean house. Republicans have been failing since 2005. And where is their ability to raise REAL money. Look at what Obama got from the DNC, while McCain went begging from the GOP/RNC. When you’re running amock and don’t even know it, you need somthing to get you back on course. AP may have sounded a much needed wake-up call. .. Question: what do you do to

  • martyinaz

What do you do to offset a biased mainstream media? 75% of the people in this nation who sit down in front of their TV to get the evening news on the three major national networks, BELIEVE EVERY WORD without question. Then the White House hires a “comunications czar” to take on Fox News and discredit them.
Somewhere about four decadesws ago, the liberal philosophy started to creep into journalism. It has grown like a weed. What can be done to overcome this monster that has infected everything we see in the papers and hear and see on television? If we can’t win back the media it will be tough to win back the masses.
    What say you?
