Dennis Moore?!?

Alone_in_the_Dotte Friday, November 6th at 2:36PM EST (link)

Really? He just published this piece in the Kansas City Kansan two days ago. He hid from his constituents during recess, claiming “death threats.” He’ll do what Nancy says. “Blue Dog Democrat” my foot.

Charlie Wilson is a Yes vote

I just called his office for the information, and asked that he reconsider.

Moore? Really?

RLembke Friday, November 6th at 2:59PM EST (link)

Moore’s website is down….was going to call, fax and email.

I’m with Alone_in_the_Dotte above - I’m in Moore’s district and he has never given any indication of going against Pelosi. He’s talked HC before it was a national discussion.

Cooper will weasle when you call.

Steph C Friday, November 6th at 3:00PM EST (link)

His voting record is 89% with Pelosi. If he thinks he can get away with it, he’ll make noises like he’s still considering and will vote for in favor of it if he sees political gain.

Although there’s a Republican challenger getting his candidacy in gear, Cooper hasn’t seen a serious challenger in his district which includes Metropolitan Nashville, which, in turn, hasn’t been red in a long, long time. The state has but the city hasn’t, which is typical for a lot of large cities.

There was a caller on Rush from Cooper's office

If that's the case,

Steph C Friday, November 6th at 3:41PM EST (link)

it’s time to turn Nashville red. If NJ can do it, so can we.

I would not put it past him to be a yes vote. He says what he thinks is politically expedient based on who he is talking to.

Oh, something else.

Steph C Friday, November 6th at 3:44PM EST (link)

Gov. Bredesen (D) is against the bill. He didn’t sign the letter from the governors but he has spoken against the bill because of what it will do to the states.

Bill Foster

kerrhome Friday, November 6th at 3:40PM EST (link)

Anyone know if Bill Foster D-IL is going to vote in favor of this? I just emailed and called his office to voice my opposition and they said that they would pass along my concerns. It’d be nice to know where the guy stands. On his website he just says that he is “reading” it now.

Hate to say it...

…but we’re tilting at windmills.

The “blue dogs” will show their true colors and vote with their party instead of their constituents. They will decide they have nothing to lose by voting for it because they are “dead men walking” anyway.

As for the Senate, a better chance to stop (or, at least, delay) this. Still, I have little doubt that Olympia Snowe will fold like a card table and vote with the Dems on this to get cloture, and after that, that’s all she wrote.

Meeting with Joe Donnelly

Mayhem Friday, November 6th at 5:47PM EST (link)

I was at the House Call yesterday in DC and I and about 12 others went and had a good 40 minute meeting with Joe Donnelly. He told us that the House bill is nothing but “smoke and mirrors,” and that Nancy is using it to placate the left. It will not pass the Senate. Donnelly was extremely worried about this and sad he is very upset by the radical leftward tilt that the leadership is taking on almost every issue. He said if he had his way, they wouldnt even be voting on this bill until they’ve gotten unemployment to start dropping, and the afghanistan problem is fixed. He also has a 100 percent pro-life record, and he said that if abortion is in the bill he is an absolute no vote (he told us this three times to get the point across).

Suffice it to say, after the meeting yesterday, I would be shocked if Joe Donnelly votes for this bill tomorrow. He is very uneasy about it and very upset with the House leadership.

“I reject your reality and substitute my own.”

Be shocked - Donnelly voted for it.

malbis Sunday, November 8th at 2:23AM EST (link)

He probably was emphasizing that abortion stand more as an excuse, since that was under negotiation.

Conceed Chandler and Cardoza are lean nos. Altmire must have some kind of sway. Not sure why, but he’s a focal point.
