Charlie Crist And the Stimulus Love: “It’s a Bridge of Help”

Here’s a video of Florida Governor Charlie Crist, in his own words, saying “During the town hall [with Barack Obama], I reiterated my support for the federal stimulus package, and pledged to the people of Florida that here in Florida we stand ready to use our share of the money quickly and responsibly to create new jobs and serve our most vulnerable citizens.”

But where it gets interesting is that Crist believes Florida needed to get its “fair share” of the stimulus. It’s a “bridge of help,” in Crist’s words.

That’s not very conservative language — he says twice that Florida should get its “fair share.” That sounds more welfare queen than conservative. With the stimulus’s help and Charlie Crist’s support, Florida has seen a loss of 165,100 jobs since the stimulus passed. That’s one heck of a bridge of help.

Well done, Charlie.

I read yesterday that a "Tea Party" had been formed

suzieQ Tuesday, November 10th at 12:05PM EST (link)

As an official political party in Florida. This is wonderful! IF (Big IF) Marco Rubio were to lose the primary to Crist (no doubt thanks to ACORN), then Rubio could still flank Crist from his right as the Tea Party candidate.

“My concern about the role of the federal government is that an intrusive government, a government that says, ‘Don’t worry, we will solve your problems’ is a government that tends to crowd compassion out of the marketplace, that too often in the past people said: ‘Somebody else will take care of the problem in my area. Don’t worry. The government is here.’”

Florida has a sore loser law

So Rubio couldnt run as a 3rd party candidate in the general. A 3rd party run agnaist Crist if he runs the primary (and i doubt he wins it) would not be a good idea. Unlike NY-23, this would be for a 6 year term not to fill out a seat for a year. Also Meeks is a full blown liberal running as one where Owens was running as a Blue Dog, which now that he is voting like a liberal will make him easier to beat.

a 3rd party in Florida or anywhere else is not a good thing...period.

I’m no stranger to the disenchantment with a squishy Republican Party that is more comfortable selling this country down the river than it is standing up and fighting for what is right. Anyone at Red state can tell you I’m one of the loudest anti establishment Republican here…

that said…the formation of a Florida Tea Party is big trouble for all of us because it stands a good chance of giving the Senate Seat there to a Democrat..and throwing one of the largest electoral college states to Obama in 2012.

I wouldn’t be so quick to stand up and cheer this if I were you.

The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one…the correct one is a MAGNET…we need to be a MAGNET that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in WashingtonFred Thompson

If Rubio did that, I'd attack with everything

Fortunately I don’t think Rubio’s an idiot.

Crist as candidate

I cannot adequately express my contempt for Crist. He should do the honorable thing and resign both as governor and as potential senatorial candidate. Looks like the Lt. Gov. wouldn’t be much better, but perhaps Crist’s departure would clear the air and we’d get a conservative candidate so as to follow the lead of NJ & VA.

…I think this song’s title, if not style and lyrics, adequately express Charlie Crist’s term as Florida Governor…and now, his campaign for Senate.

The Crist campaign implosion continues

E-mails raise new questions about Crist’s Obama denials

Valid questions about Crist’s judgement and ability to tell the truth should be a larger part of the conversation surrounding the 2010 Florida Senate Campaign.

These are NOT mistakes. These are lies.

Why don't the rest of the News Media Ask Crist..

DavidS1787 Tuesday, November 10th at 9:14PM EST (link)

about his dirty tricks campaign article link posted by Erick Erickson? The TV news people should be all over this story to get Crist on the record and force him to answer the question or look bad in the eyes of the voters.
