Good grief. Florida Governor Charlie Crist has never had to run a real primary against a real Republican and it is starting to show.
About a week or so ago, Crist lied and said he had never supported Barack Obama’s stimulus plan, despite signing a letter of support, appearing with Obama on video, and producing a personal video in favor of the stimulus.
But it gets better.
When Barack Obama headed to Florida the other day, reporters asked Charlie Crist if he was going and Crist claimed he did not even know Barack Obama was in Florida that day.
According to an Open Records Act request, Crist very much did know.
E-mails obtained by the St. Petersburg Times this week through a public records request cast doubt on that claim. The messages prove Crist’s office was aware of the visit, and it seems unlikely his aide would have dismissed Crist going to Jacksonville without checking with Crist.
He’s not commenting further. He doesn’t have to.

Primaries
dhorowitz3 Wednesday, November 11th at 9:10AM EST (link)While Crist is obviously lying, this just goes to show the value of primaries. Even if we don’t ultimately succeed in defeating them, they are forced to temporarily abandon their affinity for liberals.
The Crist campaign implosion continues

Tonight Tampabay.com released the following story:
“E-mails raise new questions about Crist’s Obama denials”

Valid questions about Crist’s judgement and ability to tell the truth should be a larger part of the conversation surrounding the 2010 Florida Senate Campaign.
These are NOT mistakes. These are lies.
Dear RPOF
pirate55 Wednesday, November 11th at 9:25AM EST (link)To Jim Greer a congratulations on giving Senator Dockery equal time for the upcoming gubernatorial primary. Based upon Mr. Crist’s continuing foolishness don’t you think it’s time to give Mr. Rubio equal time.

This line is exactly right: “..by coming across as a candidate willing to say anything to get elected, Crist now runs the risk of alienating the moderates and independents that have been by his side throughout his governorship.”
This is the real problem with Charlie Crist. Not that he’s not conservative enough because let’s face it, Florida is not a “deep red state” but that he is willing to say and do anything to get elected and to stay popular once elected. We don’t need more spineless squishes. Heck, I’d prefer a Collins or Snowe who are more liberal than Crist but at least very consistent in their positions and willing to draw a certain line in the sand. Crist is not and never will be. He’s the second coming of Arlen Specter and that’s not what we need or even what moderate independent voters want. Given the huge anti-incumbency mood, it’s obvious that voters want politicians that will take a stand and be honest, even if some of their positions don’t line up with their own and that’s why Rubio is more likely to win a general election than Crist, especially if the economy doesn’t drastically improve in a sunshine-filled state that also has 11%+ unemployment.

Proof that not everyone in the mainstream media is a bleeding heart.
This is more a problem with most moderates.

WOW! Crist fires his communications director because of his own incompetence

“Crist fires longtime communications director”
Want another sign that Gov. Charlie Crist is panicking about his Florida Senate primary against Marco Rubio? ”
This is a great story that tells how Crist even told reporters to call him on his cell phone directly to get a story.
I almost wish Crist would have waited a few more months to implode. At least until Spring. This is getting too easy. I had pointed out at one time that Crist has never really had to fight to gain office. I guess he is learning one mistake at a time.
This is pretty funny
bk Wednesday, November 11th at 2:07PM EST (link)If he’s firing the Communications Director, then he must think his problem is one of spin and not due to his own actions and statements.
The Rubio Campaign Responds Quickly again

“Charlie Crist has a credibility problem. He knows that if this election is about the issues, he is going to lose. Governor Crist knows his only chance to win this race is to make this campaign about anything but the issues. Because desperate people do desperate things, we expect increasingly outrageous claims and attacks in the months to come.”
