We absolutely hate Cheney. Not because he was a more than competent vice president, or because he could make a speech without sticking his foot in his mouth, or because he had better hair plugs than Joey B., but because he just doesn’t seem to care about us, the Obama Administration. I mean, what gives? We bait him, pay a lot of attention to him, offer to make him a political bogeyman for years to come – attention someone like Newt Gingrich would kill for – and what do we get in return? Nada. It’s like he has better things to do with his time.

I spent some time at the hospital bedsides of two of my son’s Marine buddies in Bethesda after his unit was attacked in Ramadi in early 2008. It’s not easy to do.

My son called last night to say he’s been asked to go on deployment # 3. Afghanistan this time. “What do you think, Mom?”

Sigh. What do I think? “I think you’re a great Marine, hun.”

Sheesh, Carter was a Navy man AND an Annapolis graduate and he only got a sub (that specializes in peacekeeping tasks).

Obama is still a thin-skinned thug.

Even when I disagreed with Bush, I knew he wasn’t watching the polls. He is a man of genuine decency and really was a compassionate conservative. While I disagreed with Bush on his domestic agenda, I was pleased with his social and military policy commitments, despite taking several steps back from the Bush Doctrine in his last few years in office.

As for his fiscal policies, I saw them as a tradeoff in which he expended his political capital on the Global War on Terror, FISA, etc., and therefore did not have the political capital to fight for conservative fiscal policies apart from his admirable commitment to lowering taxes.

Whatever anyone may ever say about the man, he is a rock star among the troops, because we knew we could believe in him and we knew he had our backs. It is that much more meaningful given the contrast with his successor.

For our soldiers who were wounded and killed in an act of domestic terrorism that had no business happening.

In seeing President Bush truly caring about the men and women who selflessly serve our country with honor and dignity. President Bush is 100% class act.

And for my country, who is led by a man, an administration, and a congress who couldn’t give a flying fruitbasket about this great country and the men and women who made it, and keep it, the greatest country on the planet.

To say that Obama, Holder, Reid, and Pelosi disgust me is a huge understatement. May the join the ranks of the increasing unemployed they’ve helped wrought very soon….

But I had the rare privilege of serving under one of our greatest Presidents. Ronald Reagan made every soldier, I knew, proud to serve.
