The Louisiana Purchase

Back in the old days, people would at least look ashamed when caught being bribed, but not Mary Landrieu. It’s being called the Louisiana Purchase. Senator Harry Reid put a provision on the health care plan that originally called for $100 million to be funneled to Louisiana exclusively.

Mary Landrieu refused to vote for cloture on the motion to proceed to the health care debate. Reid raised the offer to $300 million and Mary proved she wasn’t a cheap date after all — she took the increase, voted for cloture, and then bragged about the $300 million bribe.

In a statement sure to be repeated by Republicans endlessly over the coming weeks of Senate health care debate, the senator flaunted the inclusion of the provision. “I will correct something. It’s not $100 million, it’s $300 million, and I’m proud of it and will keep fighting for it,” Landrieu told reporters after her floor speech. “But that is not why I started this health care debate; I started this health care debate for all the reasons I just mentioned in my statement” on the floor.

in sheep’s clothing. They always vote with Obama, and are her constituents really fooled by all of this?

Careful, vetted voting in 2010, if ACORN and SEIU don’t “cook the books”.

………..might as well just go stand out on some of the street corners in New Orleans where she’ll be with like-minded ladies.

how there is anyone in this county that doesn’t grasp that old Blue-Dog myth has been lonf dispelled amazes me. They are strictly CCINOs and PLINOs.

“What kind of woman do you think I am”?

“Madam, we’ve already established that, now we’re just haggling over the price”

  • Mayhem

I’m just surprised she went for so cheap a price. Politicians used to have some self respect.

As distasteful as that picture is, it says it all. At least they aren’t hiding it anymore. This is what it is all about. They want to get over 50% of the American people dependent on the government so they can buy their votes. Mary is really shameless in this.

How much does LA spend per year on it? I don’t know how it’s funded is it part state or part federal? ICUs cost thousands of dollars a day. I’m sure there are drug addicted mothers delivering premature babies staying for weeks in the NICU that medicaid pays for. How much is the total state’s spending on medicaid? That is just one example there are plenty of other costly things with medicaid but NICU patients are always high dollar accounts so I’m using that as an example of spending.

Someone should tell her though, that since Obama will not be re-elected, he won’t be around to give her an appointment after she is defeated in her next campaign, so she better invest wisely while she still has a job.

  • gusso

Tit for ‘dat on our dime.

  • saintgeorgegentile

The original only cost 15M and we at least got something tangible out of it

  • nateleyswhore

…is perfect, but unfortunately requires integrity and honesty from those who run it. This lowlife scamp just extorted $300 million from hardworking American people to allow another group of criminals to steal from us ad infinitum. Unbelievable.

The Lame-Stream-Media is now trying to SPIN the whole Mammography recommendations questions as HAVING BEEN A WARNING about how PRIVATE HC PROVIDERS will drop coverages and ration – that the PUBLIC OPTION will be the savior of all women to protect their Mammographies standards of now, that they themselves have now brought into question! It is clear now, that it was/is all a ploy to further assign RATIONING FEARS to PRIVATE HC PROVIDERS and further demonize them and plead for the Public-Option BS.

YOU WOMEN BETTER STAND UP AND NOT LET THIS SPIN STAND we do not want our Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, Nieces, etc, to grow (potentially DIE) with higher risks to them because some uninformed folks fell prey to this moronic spin to pass Obamaocare.

FYI: See my comment on the diary “With Apologies to Winston Churchill.”

It’s established what Senator Mary Landrieu is. She was just negotiating the price.

  • Rick_Caird

Basically the “Landriau gambit” only addresses state government finances. It does not address federal taxes paid by people in La.

So, I see two approaches. We have at least 10 states who are in deep fiscal difficulty, including Florida and California. I intend to ask Nelson (D, Fl) why we are not getting Medicaid help, too. Is he just too stupid to actually demand it? If so, then he just isn’t the Senator we need.

Second, I would point out to Landrieu the tax burden on her state and how that would effect employment in that very poor state. What do her people think about that?

    Rick.

  • dclamage

    Accepting bribes is illegal.

Unless it’s from Harry Reid done with our tax money?

    Vote the bums out!

  • larryp

Say…maybe Mississippi qualifies forthese funds. All the labyrhinthine language about “flooded this” and “overflowed that” and “declared federal emergencies
zone over there” could well apply to Miss. They should sue to snatch the money based on interpertation of the statute. and leave ol Mary Landdrieu ‘hi and dry’,heh heh.

  • nutz2u2

Do you think there’s a possibility Harry Reid may have gotten something other than Mary’s vote with our money? Joe Conforte would’ve liked Mary. He’d have made her madam at the Mustang Ranch.

“A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.
    Ronald Reagan”

Your quote is directly to the point! What are their “fundamental beliefs” which are not compromised?

Mary has shown us – more openly than Pelosi, Reid and Obama. Maybe she learned on the streets of the Big Easy, but the lesson plan is pure Chicago school.

    1. Honor is negotiable and available to the highest bidder.
    2. Public money is the best medium for controlling the public.
    3. Lying, cheating and stealing are simply pragmatic tools.
