EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Finally Paying Attention

The good old boy network is so entrenched and pervasive, it sometimes affects even the media — particular the media covering politics.

I’m told by friends in South Carolina that the press over there has done very little in the way of covering Nikki Haley as a serious candidate for Governor, despite having the support of Mark Sanford pre-Argentina and still having the strong support of Mrs. Sanford, who just recently reiterated her support for Rep. Haley.

But, we mentioned Nikki Haley on Monday and boom.

Nice.

Folks, I’m not going to stop writing about Nikki Haley. Every day this month I intend to write something about her. You should too. She is awesome. She is one of us. She is electable. And she will make one heck of a great Governor of South Carolina.

I don’t care which state you are in. We need to support the good guys nationwide where their election will impact conservatives across the board. Governors offices do that. That is why we need Nikki Haley.

I’m a SC resident, not native, been following Haley for months. Can’t agree more.

I am not a South Carolinian, but have met Ms. Haley in the past. She is an excellent person, and someone Republicans in that state can be proud of. She is the kind of person the Republican party needs: a true conservative with ethical principles. And her diverse background (like her, I have Indian ancestry) doesn’t hurt.

I hope all South Carolinians will at the very least give her a serious look as the next Governor of South Carolina.

I met her at a gathering in Beaufort back in August. She actually sat and talked with me for about 5 minutes (even though it was clear that I did not have any money.)

I’m relatively new to the state so I learned a lot about how weak the SC Gov office is and the severe lack of transparency in the legislature. She supports the reforms that Sanford started.

That has been exactly my impression with her on the few occasions I’ve seen her in person and from emails.

She is a real person. She is down to earth. She is not arrogant like just about every other elected official I’ve seen or met in this state.

My theory is that she is so intelligent and principled that she doesn’t have to “phony up” when she’s talking to people. She just has to be herself and respond from her heart and her mind without having to calculate nor stick a finger in the wind like the others.

She is very much in touch with real folks in this state–even poor people like me–who are concerned about the massive corruption in the Statehouse.

God willing, people will wake up and respond to her grassroots campaign and do the right thing. Please pray for South Carolina. Nikki Haley is the best recovery we could have for the office of governor.
