Bill McCollum, Presumptive GOP Nominee for Florida Governor, Throws Charlie Crist Under the Bus

How bad is it for Charlie Crist? So bad that the presumptive nominee for the GOP’s gubernatorial candidate has thrown Crist under the bus.

Speaking at an event in Ocala, FL, Bill McCollum listed his priorities for Governor and, as the Associated Press notes, they “look[] a lot like the one Gov. Charlie Crist had in 2006: education, lawsuit limits, property insurance and property taxes.”

Does that mean Crist didn’t follow through on his goals? McCollum wouldn’t go there.

“I’m not going to comment on Governor Crist and his performance in office,” McCollum said. “I’m looking at being the next governor of Florida and I’m more than happy to talk about where I think the state should be going.”

Here is where it gets interesting. When McCollum talked about education reform in Florida he did not tout Charlie Crist’s record, despite Crist considering himself a huge education reformer. No, McCollum praised Crist’s predecessor, one Jeb Bush — a man who has largely seen his massive, conservative reforms of Florida’s education system undone by Charlie Crist.

McCollum also said that Florida is “far too into the insurance business,” something Crist oversaw.

In other words, the man who would be Governor is joining in the attacks on Crist and championing Jeb Bush instead.

It should be noted that, like Crist, BIll McCollum was largely picked by the Florida Republican Party. The party intended McCollum to run unopposed, but a state senator is challenging him from the right.

McCollum has been endorsed by Governor Jeb Bush. And believe that that endorsement speaks volumes.

His ‘competitor’, Senator Paula Dockery, is a RINO who sided with the trial lawyers and unions over the train deal. She voted repeating with them and found herself thrown under the bus by the unions for 8 jobs.

    McCollum all the way!!

Florida’s attorney general is investigating whether the sale of a voting-machine maker to a rival concentrates too much power in one company.

Attorney-General Bill McCollum confirmed Wednesday that his office was conducting the antitrust probe. He issued a statement after several voting rights groups sent him a letter calling for an inquiry.

    Heh.

Maybe we should ‘hang’ a new nickname on AG McCollum: ‘Chad’.

Tell me you didn’t see that one comin’ from a mile away.

    ;)

    Cheers from South Flori-duh !

Some of you may have heard of the little contrived controversy over Palin scratching out McCain’s name on the visor she wore to the beach in Hawaii yesterday. Well, the media made a hullaballoo about it, and Palin had to release a statement basically endorsing McCain for his reelect in the AZ Senate race.

HOWEVER, while she had to kiss McCain’s ring yesterday, and piss off some movement people regarding JD Hayworth, I suspect she’ll compensate with a ringing Marco endorsement after the holidays. The visor thing was a cockup on her part, and put her in a box. Now she’s in a position where she can make lemonade out of a lemon in Florida to please the Base.

He will easily win the primary and should win the Governorship. November is a long way off, but I am not worried about this.

on the Jason Lewis show. He sounded incredibly well versed on the issues and he was able to express conservative principles in an understandable and logical manner. I’d call him “articulate” but you know where that leads (Joe Biden).

Anyhow, my thoght after listening to Rubio was that this guy needs to get elected Senator and then maybe he has a shot at the Presidency. Then reality set in and I thought it would be impossible to go from State politician to Senator to President in a mere two years. Something like that could just never happen.

Good luck Florida. Charlie get out of the way.

Happy to see McCollum say that we need to stop relying so heavily on tourism and agriculture for Florida’s economic growth.

Contrary to what a lot of people think, the state of Florida does not begin in Orlando and extend southward. It’s like the section of the state from Georgia to the Orlando/Tampa area doesn’t exist.

I know the people in the West Central area where I live are begging for some type of manufacturing industries, but the chances of that happening are slim to none, because of the ridiculous impact fees and regulations imposed on new businesses.

The few “shovel ready” jobs that are available here, are in road construction and being given to Mexicans, who stand around leaning on their shovels most of the day, ready for the 5 o’ clock whistle.

Let the redeemed say so! We need to create a badge or emblem that identifies our conservative beliefs. It should say “we are warriors for liberty” , “We will not tolerate tyranny” “You will not have MY America” It is time for Americans to stand up for the values of God, family and freedom. I will not live under socialism or communism or Marxism or any other sick perverted combination of these loser forms of government. They have been tried over and over and the result is always the same; a poor and miserable people led by a rich, greedy, power mad ruler of whom we have had so many examples through out the history of man kind. We must not let so great a prize as liberty, slip from our fingers. It has been purchased by the blood of Americans from Valley Forge to 9-11 and I for one will gladly give my life for my country.
What about you? For what price will you sell your freedom? And your children? And your country?
How low will you go? What is your price? Obama and the Dems are standing there with a fist full of cash, what’s your price? Harry Reid says “let’s make a deal”
Will you sell your country out too?
This is exactly what is going on in Washington right now
as the left tries to BUY votes for their power grab play which is something that they call Health Care but is actually and abomination to the American people.
I don’t have much but what I do have I am ready to offer to save the way of life that God has given America.
It is time to stand up and be counted, will you?

Hearing him speak is hearing him speak, not some rehearsed speech by a speechwriter. Rubio can be force for a while.
