I am curious if there was any groundwork. How did it fail? Did the President know the reality of negotiations? If he did why did he go? If he did not know why is the incompetent staff being tolerated? Either ways that is EPIC FAIL.

I was reading a book authored by John Bolton “Surrender Is Not An Option” for the last 1 week. He describes in detail how negotiations work out in UN. And how they are lost and won. I gather there is lot of hard work behind the scenes. From what we witness, I don’t see any indication of that going on here.

Daley intimates - and I do not mean this in a condescending let alone welcoming sense - that it’s up to the U.S. with its antiquated notions of representative democracy to save Europe from itself.
