Barack Obama’s Post-Modern Liberal Syllogisms Keep Falling Apart

On September 19, 2001, writing in the Hyde Park Herald Barack Obama attributed 9/11 related terrorism to, “a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.”

Even more so, Obama went on to say:

“They see poverty all around them and they are angry by that poverty. They may be suffering under oppressive and corrupt regimes and that kind of environment is a breeding ground for fanaticism and hatred.”

“It’s absolutely critical that the U.S. is engaged in policies and strategies that will give those young people and these countries hope and make it in their self-interest to participate and create modern, open societies like we have in the U.S.”

Obama has, in fact, held to this position for the better part of a decade despite the evidence that the 9/11 attackers were, in fact, mostly rich kids.

In his Cairo speech, Barack Obama did not directly mention “poverty,” but instead went with the white man’s burden — an indirect way of saying the same thing — pontificating that “tension has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims.”

Contra Obama, it turns out that yet again, the Al Qaeda terrorist who tried to blow up a Delta jet on Christmas Day was another rich kid.

With his wealth, privilege and education at one of Britain’s leading universities, Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab had the world at his feet – able to choose from a range of futures in which to make his mark on the world. . . .

Abdulmutallab, 23, had lived a gilded life, and, for the three years he studied in London, he stayed in a £2m flat. He was from a very different background to many of the other al-Qa’ida recruits who opt for martyrdom.

It may be easier for an academic wrapped up in post-modern liberal syllogisms to draw inescapable conclusions from the absence of facts than to embrace simpler themes based on the presence of fact, but we can always hope and pray Obama learns something from this.

Some people want to kill us. They need to be rooted out and killed first. And we should perhaps consider that the “War on Terror” we are no longer allowed to refer to continues even if we choose not to participate.

Oh, and given that the “poverty” stereotype has yet again been disrupted by a terrorist who did not fit Barack Obama’s fact pattern for terror, maybe Obama should consider that “no one has ever broken out of a SuperMax” and “let’s try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City” also are the products of post-modern liberal syllogisms derived from the absence of actual facts. And do we really want to keep releasing GTMO detainees to places like Somaliland that do not even technically exist?

    Truer words are rarely spoken.
And the undeniable “FACT” is that from the Clinton administration on, there exists a refusal by many on the left to accept this truth.
With the far left in charge of all branches of the government, this becomes an even greater threat to the Nation then the terrorists themselves, IMO.
Will the President, as you hope, that “Obama learns something from this”, but I suspect that the only thing he will ‘learn’ is that his ‘message’ is misunderstood by the masses…..again.
First, and perhaps best, example? The new rules on flights that prevent going to the restroom n the last hour of a flight.
Yeah, that will prevent a self styled martyr from their ‘mission’.
    Sheesh…..

Obama is just another leftist fool — with no understanding of the world outside.

    Not “rick” kids.

Plain as the nose on your face. This latest airline incident is upsetting to O and his obscene political party. now they have to pay lip service to this bothersome war on terror, and skip or reduce the religion of peace crap.
Did not tough guy/ballerina Rahm Emanuel caution against real war , interfering with the domestic agenda? Wrecking America is what counts, not combating people who may, just may, hate America more than The O and his political allies.

It isn’t that they have no understanding of the world outside, it’s just that they understand a different world than actually exists.

?It?s absolutely critical that the U.S. is engaged in policies and strategies that will give those young people and these countries hope and make it in their self-interest to participate and create modern, open societies like we have in the U.S.?

And didn’t he endlessly criticize Bush/McBush about how we can’t be the world’s police, force our values on others, be nation-builders. etc.?

You can’t ever believe a word this guy says.

in light of what’s been revealed this year — him and his “never waste a crisisi” posse and what he’s trying to hussle on the American people ..

I think was just a blow-hard trying to stick his neck out past the pack.

Which means saying *whatever* to get noticed.

Maybe he tried reaching into the colonialism he was famliar with and could articulate well (sans teleprompter), but, hearing his 2001 words reminds me of any unpopular, skinny, ugly, big-earred kid, who’s trying to get noticed.

At this moment, I say the guy’s an empty suit. His attempt to “wow” the world has failed, his first year as POTUS has failed .. I’m not so curious to see what else he has roled up his sleeve.

And I’m most anxious to have him rendered a lame duck in 2010.

God help us. God bless my president and give him cause to convert, I hope he continues to fail.

attempted terror plot, qouted three administration officials “off the record” that is was a terror plot. That three officails were afraid to say on the record that it was a terror plot, to use the dreaded and banned “T” word tells you all you need to know about Obama.
Why is it even necessary to point out that everything he has said in the past is wrong? We know that. Right now we should be concentrating on forcing him to at least act like a commander-in-chief who puts the interests of the US first.

  • RedBeard

…communist and admitted child porn fan Frank Marshall Davis, Jeremiah “God D*** America” Wright, Bill “The Bomber” Ayres, and a raft of other filthy leftists and America-haters, it’s not logical to expect him to behave any differently than he has been.

An epiphany would be nice, but that sort of thing is quite rare. The road to Damascus is one Obama will likely never walk.

can’t very well toss around the “t word” while he’s vacay-ing in aloha-ho-ha Hawaii.

that George W took and still takes for taking a few minutes to get up and leave the classroom after the first 9/11 plane hit in New York…I can’t help but compare it with the obvious lack of outrage from the press and the lefties now.

I could easily understand the few minutes George took to get his thoughts together that horrible day, and his response to the attack was spectacular. Now we have a muslim sympathizer in the same position, who not only delays to address attacks on US soil, but does a “shout out”after the Fort Hood incident!

  • throwback59

he was told to stay put until the Secret Service secured the area. Makes perfect sense that if you are launching an attack on the US you would try to take out the CinC.
Bush got a bum rap for that by the idiot left who knew full well the real reason he did not leave right away..

Call Napolitano and tell her you’ve discovered worse terrorists than the US veterans, anti-abortion protestors, and pro-2nd Amendment supporters she uncovered as soon as she landed in la-la DC. It’s the DHL itself.

I told her I was putting a curse on her for New Years and sending money to the Rep. Sen. Election Committee, which is prob. more frightening than the hex.

And where is the investigation into Muslim terrorist Hasan, the poor misunderstood captain of psychiatry? Has Big O pondered that attack long enough to finally conclude it was really terror?

And when was the Great O’s response to the Detroit flight? Not for hours. Prob. watching porno, the great liberal 1st Amend. claim to fame and more onuses on airlines, by fiat, since this creep thinks he’s a king instead of a US pres.

  • RedBeard

But keep in mind that the lefties who attacked Bush for this had a mission, because in their cute little pea-sized brains Bush was never really elected in 2000.

Grassy knolls, Area 51, fire can’t damage steel, etc. etc.

?It?s absolutely critical that the U.S. is engaged in policies and strategies that will give those young people and these countries hope and make it in their self-interest to participate and create modern, open societies like we have in the U.S.?

Yeah, and they will simply hate us for it. Just like every other hand-out recipient ends up hating and biting the hand that feeds it…

And BTW, which section of the Constitution directs the federal gubmint to engage “…in policies and strategies that will give those young people blah blah blah…”?

  • RedBeard

…he would just pull the flag out of the hole and say, “Go ahead and putt out; the shock wake won’t be here for a little bit. Stop worrying.”

    Priorities, priorities.

Is that anything a conservative says turns out to be right. Thus, the fear that radical Islamists are out to kill Americans is right because George W. Bush said it. They are equally fearful that Hassan did commit an act of terrorism because Rush and other hated conservatives said it. Maybe some of the conservative leaders should start saying exactly the opposite of the truth, just so O and his minions will change from their disastrous course.

the lefty loonies are destroying the american way of life.reid, pelosi, emanaul, axelrod, and the all mighty obama have plans for us the plan is keep us in place.health care and cap and trade do just that.iam going to stay mad.as long as there is the web,and country loving people like, limbaugh, beck, orielly, and hannity who keep us informed.fox news bless them, while nbc, cbs, abc, and all obamas news paper should pray to god for forgiveness for trying to take away our live, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

  • voxoreason

Too many people are horrified that Obama is completely inept and, oh, bad luck, he’s doing stupid things.

Obama is accomplishing his mission. You’ve either seen or heard him on tape noting his Marxist roots. This man knows just what he’s doing… it simply isn’t what’s good for America. After the better part of a year of his saying one thing, doing another, his chicanery has made it obvious that he is trying to press his agenda before everyone catches on.

The only flaw is that he was so obvious about it all (MUST have huge Stimulus funding ASAP; this will allow him to spend a fraction of it, while leaving a slush fund that is further funded with the repayment of bailout “loans”; MUST have Health Scare before Christmas…so the taxes can come upfront, while the benefits begin after Obama serves his one term, and someone else can take the heat), so Americans started paying attention when they should have still been asleep! (Thank you, God!)

BTW, google up the Stim bill (pdf version for searching; get the Final version, as there are several versions). It’s over 400 pages long, but the online hearth care records part begins around page 355… and yes, it might as well be written in a dead language, so reading it is a chore.

This link will do ‘er…or you can do the google:

    http://readthestimulus.org/hr1_final.pdf

Look through the table of contents, and you’ll note that it has Part A and Part B. You want section 4 of Part B, so the ability to copy/paste something from the table of contents into a search will yield results. “Health” is in the title of the info you’ll be looking for.

    Cares not,
for the harm, they bring, to everyday people , only that they see their agendas followed. Eg : the killing fields after we left Viet Nam, when over 3 million died in the ensuing cleansing, that the communists pursued. or the condition of the inner city’s, that have been democratically controlled, for generations. there simply are too many examples to enumerate all. but know this, they abhor freedom, although they espouse support for it. Know them for the deeds they do, not what they say!
Support our Troops, help them tokeep us free!

“First, and perhaps best, example? The new rules on flights that prevent going to the restroom n the last hour of a flight.”

if you think the purpose of such rules is to protect Americans. The purpose is to train Americans in proper obedience to worthless rules and regulations. Right now the government has taken total control of individual behavior in aircraft. The greater goal is to expand the habit of teaching us that we may only do what, when, and where the government permits.

“They may be suffering under oppressive and corrupt regimes and that kind of environment is a breeding ground for fanaticism and hatred”

Yes, it is. Take a good, long look around you, Obama.

  • chbroussard

I’m sure it’s a chore to read, but I’m up for it. They don’t want us to understand what they’re doing. I’m sure it’s like trying to read the health care bill, which I TRIED to do.
