EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Senator Jim DeMint Steps Up Again to Lead. McClatchy Newspapers Cries.

McClatchy Newspapers is the alleged “news” organization that runs terrorist propaganda out of Iraq as legitimate news. It’s Washington editor tried very hard to push local McClatchy reporters in North Carolina to write damaging stories on Blackwater. It hired anonymous Iraqis during the Iraq War to write lots of unverifiable stories about the horrors of American soldiers.

Today, in another example of its bias, its national news feed runs the headline Who’s running the TSA? No one, thanks to Sen. Jim DeMint.

Compare that to the Washington Post, which ran the identical story with the headline “Republican senator DeMint holds up nomination for TSA chief“.

The McClatchy headline is not even true. In fact, it is objectively a lie.

From the story itself, “Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) had not scheduled a floor vote on Southers before the Senate left town on Christmas Eve, and the Senate will not be back in session for another three weeks.”

So Reid hasn’t even tried to schedule a vote.

But what is most important is the reason for Jim DeMint’s hold on the TSA nominee. The nominee, Erroll Southers, has refused to go on record opposing the TSA from hooking up with a labor union. That’s right — the Obama administration is flirting with unionizing the TSA and Southers is refusing to say whether he supports or opposes the efforts.

Remember the Department of Homeland Security votes in 2002? The effort by Max Cleland (D-GA) to let that department unionize sank his re-election bid. The public does not want federal agents charged with protecting them unionizing.

We must prevent the TSA from operating like a trip to the DMV. Imposing union work rules would cripple an already burdensome airport experience. Jim DeMint is on the right side of this, despite McClatchy Newspapers and the White House trying to make him look like the bad guy.

That’s nearly 8 months after he took office. It hasn’t even been 4 months since then.

It’s pretty obvious the TSA wasn’t high on Obama’s priority list but he will try to blame GOP obstruction.

At least it isn’t Bush’s fault.

“At least it isn?t Bush?s fault.”

Sure it is. Ask Bobby Gibbs.

This should have been a “Reply to this,” but due to insufficient coffee…….

We’re watching this from the bureaucracy side, the slowness of the Southers appointment, another link in that chain.

This knicker-bomber went thru Nigerian, then Dutch inspection points, yet we’re over-hauling domestic TSA procedures here. That seems like a feint to me…not that you have to go very hard to mis-direct the MSM.

Our view has been from the git-go that there has been a general stand down administratively at TSA, having announced a procedure review a while back, and awaiting a new boss. Front line procedures continue to work, but as we know from the no-fly list debacle, no one is watching the store at the front office.

Until convinced otherwise, we think the “out-front” President is simply covering up another glaring example of sloth and incompetence.

And yes, Gibbs in his Sunday morning interview did blame Bush.

Hi Mark! It’s Chris- don’t want you to come back with gratuitous ad- hominems about user names and nifty, trite, supposedly witty comebacks your hapless groupies can print on their blogs.

I didn’t even know McClatchy was still in business. Ah, but perhaps they found a new beginning as ghost writers for the DNC and Obama?

First McClatchy manufactures the news in Iraq and then when that dries up clown-boy and his “stringers” oil up the propaganda machine here.

I am certain there is a good reason for McClatchy continues to spit polish the shoes of Democrats and print it as news. “Stimulus” money coming their way perhaps? Oh, one can only wonder. Only wonder.

Last week, this was noticed on a journalism trade news site (which is of course far left). The blog was tremendous, but the owner needed to spend more time with family and earning money. Not that the blog put McClatchy out of business, but they have to be glad it’s gone.

under GWB and they never forget. An, no, the employees won’t get to vote. They’ll just remove the exemption for TSA and then there’ll be mutual recognition. And, we won’t even have the provision of the NLRA that prohibits “guards” unions from being affilitated, so they probably go to SEIU or AFSCME, whichever makes the biggest “contribution.”

And if you think they’re bad now …

Its my post Viet-Nam paranoia, but, in dropping our guard, and being attacked, could it be, another crisis to good to waste?!

Support our Troops, they are doing a tough, unrewarding job! Unappreciated by many in the Administration.

I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. He seems to be the lone “voice in the wilderness” for conservatives anymore.

For all intne and purpose, Sen. DeMint has been providing the leadership even in the monority. He is the one who objected to Sen. Conferees for the Health Bill. He is the one who is proving the intellectual fire power as well as tactical offense to all the liberal agenda in the Senate.

I believe he is also on of the Senators who has put a hold on Fed Chair Bernanke’s second term.

  • olddog

we get attacked, they, then institute martial law to protect us?
    Maybe I’m being too suspicious.?

Support our Troops, they are our best and brightest!

bring them all home ,we didn’t in Viet Nam,Political expediency, you know. We are called Expendable, in the Elitests eyes and another of their lies.

He had me when he said during the an interview with he and Pence that they felt that the calvary finally arrived in DC with the 912 march. He said he and Pence felt like lone wolfs opposing Bush’s big government and now Obama’s. He seems to genuinely care about the country, not about getting re-elected!

Whenever I hear McConnell or Steele, they just don’t get it like DeMint!
