EDITOR OF REDSTATE

We Have a Problem

We have, in the past day, gotten a report from a regular user that one of the advertisements at RedState is spitting out malicious code. We’re trying to track down the specific advertisement.

We use a remnant ad server to display third party advertising when the ads purchased via RedState expire and are waiting to be filled. I am guessing, but do not know for sure, that this is where the problem is.

In any event, I realize some of you want to click the ads to help us out, but I would be cautious until I say otherwise and don’t click the ads.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Malicious code purveyors need to be beaten with large clubs. Apparently, a lot of the Scut Farkas-type people have tired of beating up smaller kids in the alley, and have gravitated toward the internet.

Btw, why are we up at 5:00 AM? This is wrong.

I am still getting the “cannot display this page” most of the time when I click on the members diaries on the right. I have watched the bottom of my screen as the diary is loading, and it seems that as soon as I see “opening page, admeld, is when I get the dreaded message that “operation aborted by internet explorer”, when I click ok, it shoots me out to the page cannot be displayed screen. I have done everything it says to do to check it according to the instructions on the page, but, it doesn’t work. More often than not, I just abondon trying to read the diary.

…….you and Erick are High Speed.!!!

There is at least sometimes good new this early: http://bit.ly/4HzNtx
Even though the referenced website is the BIBLE and Operating code for our current DYNAMIC GOP, they will probably keep referring to the Dems as “my friend whom I love – with socialism and justice for all.”

For the GOP there is still plenty of time though before pulling out their secret weapon that will REALLY attack Dems….the Kathleen Parker super nova dynamo..

Thanks for heads up on code.

and I am also having problems getting to the dairies. I had also gotten viruses from another conservative site. Seriously, many times Internet Explorer will deny access to this site only. I had reported this before but no one seemed to be having it but me. I have the highest level of firewalls and virus protection,

Since I am new here I have trouble finding my own messages so sorry for the repeats. (I have read the instructions two times.) The important issue is the concern that someone “out there” is trying to interfer with our communicating.

Although I say “tongue-in-cheek” that some people here probably wish I encountered this issue more often.

go to the top of the page and click on My Profile. It will bring up your last 20 or so posts.

It took my anti-virus software company 4 days to sort it out. They elevated my case 3 times. Just FYI . . .

and I’ve not had a problem with Redstate or anywhere else with this kind of thing.

Didn’t even know RedState had ads for the first couple of weeks…

I use IE8 because I use MS Office so much for other things and I’m too lazy to both learn another browser and learn to integrate that browser with Office. So, I’ve had to learn some work-arounds to keep RS running on IE.

The most important thing is that you have to clear your history fairly often or the site simply will not run. For me, the first thing that goes is “Reply to This.” When you click Reply to This and it either gives you the general reply to the thread or goes to the top of the thread, you need to close IE, reopen it, go to Tools and click Delete Browsing History. You don’t have to delete all of it, I leave saved passwords and a couple others but you’ll have to figure out what works for you.

I use Opera, and have never had problems of any sort. And, yes, I realize that it is most likely due to the lower numbers of users that use Opera, and is thus not a target of viruses, etc.

But I find it faster than Firefox, and takes less memory to run. (I don’t use IE at all, so I have no experience with IE and RedState…) And, I can use it on the multiple platforms that I use (i.e. various versions of unix. and Windows) and have the same look, feel, bookmarks, etc. (although you can also do this with Firefox).

If you are adventuresome, you might give it a try…

Is that a known IE8 vs. Redstate issue?

  • graciegirl

for your help and ideas. I think if I lost my access to RS I would lose what’s left of my sanity!

you folks could ditch the annoying pop up ads while you’re at it?

although from time to time AVG seems have a problem picking up the site. I don’t run IE8(32 or 64 bit for this site) much so I don’t really see many problems from IE. I do run have the Big 4 web browsers installed in Vista Ultimate 64.
