10) Party organization matters. You can have a good showing in the polls (as with Doug Hoffman), but you need a strong ground strategy to make sure your voters go to the polls. This means phone contact and followups throughout the day on election day. Brown had it, and turned out his core in the suburbs. Coakley didn’t have it, and her core in Boston stayed home.

11) Tireless campaigning with personal contact matters. I used to live in Connie Morrella district in Maryland. Before they gerrymandered her out of office, she would stand in the cold in front of the Shady Grove Metro Station to ask for your vote weeks before the election, despite being in her 5th or 6th term. The day AFTER the election, she was back out there THANKING you for your vote. She had total class, and knew how to connect with her consituents. Scott Brown was the same way. When a poll would come in showing him 20 points down, he would pick himself up by grabbing a pile of campaign literature and going out to stand on a street corner talking to voters and passing out the brochures. Contrast this with Coakley’s penchant for running to DC to ask for money and help. The crack about standing in front of Fenway in the cold shaking hands was a perfect look into her problems as a candidate. If you aren’t willing to go out of your way to meet the voters, then you have no business running.

Remember this when we start bitching about Scott Brown becoming a RINO (I already read much of this crap between Allah and Duchess Rebecca on Twitter on Tuesday night). I’m predicting right now that Brown will win re-election in 2012, despite Obama being on the ballot. And he will do it because his constituents will believe that he is looking out for them, not because he is following the GOP leadership’s instructions.

There is no reason to care at all when McCain is running himself ragged working against us. According to Michelle Malkin, his
PAC is busy supporting Charlie Crist in Florida (and others like him elsewhere). The need for the Supreme Court’s business Thursday was because John McCain was compelled to engineer a way for George Soros to change the country. Not only will McCain not go away, he of course gets Sarah Palin to campaign for him, totally blowing her credentials as an outside the Beltway type person. Now, Michelle says, apparently Scott Brown made a robo-call tape asking people to vote for McCain that went out the day after Brown’s election.
There is no reason for republican websites, no reason to vote, work for precincts or anything if McCain is allowed to work against us. He’s also an avid promoter of global warming and cap and trade–both horrible, completely made up scams to hurt ordinary Americans. He’s on par with Obama’s czars, and he’s got to go.
