NEW POLL: Marco Rubio BEATS Charlie Crist

A new poll shows Marco Rubio ahead of Charlie Crist for the first time in the race.

The Quinnipiac University poll has Rubio ahead by 3 and also beating Kendrick Meeks, the expected Democrat.

Likewise, Senator John Cornyn is now saying of Rubio, “His chances are better now than they’ve been at any point earlier.” Nonetheless, Cornyn is standing by his man Charlie Crist.

Cornyn said he’s sticking by endorsements already issued by the NRSC — including that of Gov. Charlie Crist, R-Fla., in his Senate bid.

But he noted that other candidates have explicitly said they don’t want the backing of national Republicans — something he said is “probably smart” in a year where anti-Washington fervor is running strong.

Of his endorsement of Crist, he said: “I made that commitment early on, and I’m sticking with it. But it’s an acknowledgement that the primary voters are going to be the ones to choose — not me, not anybody else.

Remember the upcoming money bomb. Make your pledge today and give on February 10th. Let’s send a political shockwave through the Republican establishment.

I wonder if President Obama will let Senator John Cornyn borrow the bus he has on standby for each time one of his guys loses?

  • partyof1

solid endorsement from Cornyn. Makes me just want to run right out and vote Crist.

If I were Crist I’d be calling up Cornyn right about now to say “hey dude, stay off my side if that’s all you got for me, k?”

    Counting down to the 10th.

As for the “Clueless Brigade” – NRSC, NRCC, RNC……..ZIPPO

    unabated.

Crist may not be a Senator but he is a Governor, therefore an incumbent of something.

Not to mention that Rubio is the better man, regardless, but it seems easier to oust incumbents this election cycle doesn’t it?

    *Grin* Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

As important as it is to have proof of the “anti-establishment” sentiment in a Marco Rubio defeat of Crist, it has to happen first in Utah The most Conservative state in the Union has to prove it by unseating this incumbent who long ago stopped representing their values. Bob Bennett has to go and Mike Lee will be the one to do it!

But this all happens in May at the nominating convention.

the reason for your earlier endorsement of Crist was because you said he stood the best chance of winning in November because of money and name recognitions.

Now that Rubio has raised funds, gained name recognition to the point where he is ahead of Crist…and is beating the Democrat in the polls…what’s your reason for sticking with your original endorsement?

This tells me the NRSC’s endorsement was never about strategy…it’s about ideology and helping to maintain the moderate club that is the United States Senate.

This is all the more reason to elect Rubio and reject the NRSC as a legitimate source for our funds and time!

Can we take our country back from the Marxists in Washington?

    YES WE CAN!!

  • EagleWatcher

This is our strategy for getting our country back.

This is all the more reason to elect Rubio and reject the NRSC as a legitimate source for our funds and time!

My paper shredder is filled with fund raising letters from the RNC.

We aren’t anti-Washington… We are anti-STUPID, stupid. Backing Christ is like backing ObamaCare and clearly, the voting public (your current employers) do not want either.
Oh… and, by the way. Just because your name has an R after it… doesn’t mean you’re seat is safe in November so, read the above statement and imagine “sticking by” Charlie in the I Wannabe/Usetobe a Senator Club.

I took the AP to task for a header basically calling it a tie. The AP then explained the 3.8 percent margin of error.

I’ve never seen them include the margin in shaping a header. Most of the time, whoever’s ahead is dubbed the front horse and there’ll be a tag about the margin in the body of the story,

Maybe the AP just doesn’t like conservatives. Most of the newspapers in Fla. tilt left, so the ‘tie’ will be in just about all those newspaper stories.

Ace, When it is his turn to run in the primaries, let’s hope there is a solid Conservative to run against him. That way you and I will have someone to vote FOR in that primary. Face it, if he survives the primary, we’ll once again have to hold our noses and vote for him (though I admit that it will be less odious than voting for McCain or some other big RINO). I don’t see any way that Moscow on the Guadalupe’s (that’s Austin to non-Texans) nominee will be more tolerable to us.

  • fpete13527

Cornyn is proving what he is really about……to NOT empower conservative candidates.

  • joayn

Endorsements have consequences, my friend. When ya stick your nose in, don’t be surprised if it gets punched a couple of hundred times.

  • AceInTX

I just want him gone from the NRSC…but has far as how he’s doing as my Senator…I have no complaints.

He’d really have to go off the deep end before I’d change my position on that.

  • AceInTX

it’s the permanent staffers of the NRSC that are the power behind the thrown and they are the ones that need to go!

First symptom, head submerged completely up his own butt. Acronym is HUB – head up butt.

Second symptom, he can’t admit he did anything wrong. My goodness, he’s still holding the smouldering crack pipe when the cops bust in, and the hooker in his bed has an “I heart Johnny Corn-dog” tattoo on her butt.

But no……….. I’m not meddling in FL GOP politics, that Rubio guy sure looks good, you guys should vote for whoever you want, but I still endorse the squish who hugged Obama. Who by the way is not gay — NTTAWWT.

She is planning to vote for Rubio, but just hates yard signs in general. So I offered to paint RUBIO all over her Jeep instead. I think the yard signs will be fine now. ;-)

Before I get to the audio of this terrific news for Marco Rubio I’d like to post what Cornyn said in his own words. He just flat out lied (it’s sourced):

“…But Cornyn added that he will not intervene in a contested primary, in which Crist would be facing former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio. Rubio, a conservative Republican, announced his candidacy Tuesday and has been critical of Crist for supporting President Barack Obama?s stimulus proposal.”

Five days late Cornyn said this:
“,,,National Republican Senatorial Committee will be endorsing Crist, according to a senior Hill operative, marking the first time it has taken sides (for a non-incumbent) in a competitive GOP primary this election cycle.

NRSC chairman John Cornyn made the endorsement official this morning, casting Crist as the most electable candidate to hold the seat for the GOP.

“While I believe Marco Rubio has a very bright future within the Republican Party, Charlie Crist is the best candidate in 2010 to ensure that we maintain the checks and balances that Floridians deserve in the United States Senate,” Cornyn said in a statement.”
Here is the long version of my story:

As for the audio of the Pollster’s analysis analysis you can find it here:

on FBN. Really impress with his answers and how he sticks to message. Think when I get some money ahead next month, I contribute a couple $$ to help him.

  • pirate55

is converted to a contribution to the Rubio campaign. Dear NRSC and Mr. Cornyn, Are yolu listening?

  • Princeliberty

You can get ready – take it to the bank etc..

Crist will soon be standing next to Obama and saying the truth – that he is a Democrat!

Cornyn is really going to look like the ultimate idiot. The Republicans are still going to win big – but in despite of Cornyn – not because of anything he is doing.

Cornyn wrote off Brown. The grassroots are winning the battle.

  • GenEarly

As a Conservative Florida Voter, registered republican by necessity, and supporting Marco Rubio; I hold in utter contempt the Cornyns, McCains and Grahmnestys of this almost worthless political hack party. Never forget that the 2 Bushie’s and Congressional republicans betrayed us and conservative policies that led to this obamanation we now face. If we just change “parties” and not individuals they will betray us again. The democrats are so far gone they may never clean their own house, but conservatives MUST clean out the RINO’s, or all that will be left is socialist mush to choose from. It is not radical to demand that the government and our representatives OBEY the Constitution as written.

I retired as a journalist 18 months ago, and for all the years I was in the ‘profession’ I never felt able to give money or public support to a candidate I liked. And I watched and fumed while my erstwhile colleagues mouthed platitudes and hypocricies about ‘objectivity’, while slanting every sentence for their chosen liberal/left/progressive-du-jour. Still, I have no regrets about sticking with my personal principles on that score.

But — NOW — that’s all changed. This year I’ve been able to “invest” a few bucks in some good conservative candidates regardless of where they are. One of those pledges is to Marco, who I think has a good chance to knock off that fella who looks like some kind of GQ tuxedo model. Watzizname???
