Just When You Think Crist’s Bad News Weeks Have Bottomed Out

Just when you think Charlie Crist’s no good, very bad, awful several weeks has finished bottoming out and is prepared to rebound, the bottom falls out and he sinks even further.

Today, Crist is proclaiming himself a “McCain Republican”, stealing a talking point from Scott Brown in Massachusetts. I’ve got news for Charlie Crist — if we’re lucky, John McCain is going to get beaten by a conservative this year, just like Crist. And does he really want to further align himself with a man whose wife is now campaigning against Christians in Arizona and California, calling them “haters”?

Note that the quote originally circulated that Crist had called himself a “DeMint Republican.” When I asked Senator DeMint about that, he said, “That’s nice if the governor said that, but I’m a Marco Rubio Republican.”

If that’s not enough, consider Scott Rothstein, Charlie Crist’s number one fundraiser and donor, pled guilty today to federal charges connected to a multi-billion Ponzi scheme. Rothstein, in true Crist-supporter fashion, also supported Democrat Alex Sink for Governor.

The Miami Herald reported that Crist supporters themselves were alleging that Rothstein’s bundling could account anywhere from $500,000 to more than $1 million in Crist Campaign contributions.

After initially dragging his feet, under intense questioning from his editorial board buddies, Crist decided he would give back $76,250 from 35 employees of Rothstein’s firm

But an AP story this week said Crist only gave back $9,600.00. So the question is: is Charlie Crist going to follow through on his promise, is his fundraising total this quarter inflated, and is $76,000.00 really all the dirty Rothstein money?

Also, with Rothstein pleading guilty, there’s little doubt he cut a deal and will be singning like a canary.

Charlie Crist just keeps sinking lower and lower.

[UPDATED:] First Kos and now other liberal pundits are speculating that Charlie Crist should/might switch parties to run as a Democrat. I really don’t see that happening. I still suspect Crist is going to drop out. Frankly, Barack Obama should name him head of the American-Haitian Relief Effort. As Governor of Florida, he does have a ton of executive experience in dealing with natural disaster coordination. That skill set does not translate to the Senate, but would work well as an executive level appointee into the federal government while helping Obama’s “favorite Republican” save face.

…Crist remaining a loyal Republican. He is a political animal if ever there was one, and it will be too easy for him to jump on the “GOP is too extreme for me now” bandwagon.

Of doing whatever it takes to be elected. And you know what, people let it slide here in Florida because they are OK with his policies. But his approval is down from the 70s to barely breakeven. Unemployment here in Florida is 12% and localities are raising taxes. Crist is getting hammered here for taking his eye off the ball as governor to run for the Senate.

A party switch would be seen as totally brazen and while it might garner Dem support, he would crash and burn with the indies. Oh, and any remaining Republican support would evaporate instantly. Coming from a guy on the ground in Florida, bank on that.

is not a winning GOP strategy. I for one want more of this. Please if you are a McCain Republican keep on declaring that. This way it makes the target easier to hit. I understand that in states like Massachusetts a McCain Republican is probably the best you will get but in states like Arizona or Florida we can do better. McCain is the poster boy for what is wrong with the current group of Republicans. They aren’t “centrist” they go waaaay past the center and cross over to the left. Remember bi-partisan to a Dem means agreeing with them. Crist and McCain need to be voted out. The GOP needs a thorough scrubbing and getting rid of RINO’s is numero uno.

Rumor has it that the Colts promised Obama a big campaign contribution if he endorses the Saints in the Super Bowl.

Making our Nation the greatest and highest producer of Egg-cartons? Slap-chops (oh wait, we got that one ;-) lol)? GM/Ford winning enough NASCAR Races? What else, just for the sake of being able to CLAIM we are not falling behind the rest of the World in doing should we spend Millions… Billions… Trillions… on?!?!?

I used to work for a US Chemical company, Foreign owned now, but should the Govt’ have put Billions into it so we could claim the US as the number 1 leader in Bathroom cleaning products? Dishwasher liquid? Urinal cakes?!?!?! I worked for a National Retailer, should they have been bailed out so as to regain/keep its former claim as Largest Retailer?!?!? I could, of course, go on but I’ll stop…..

I like the idea of High Speed rail, I really do, it would be nice (would like to hop one from Detroit to Lansing and on out to Grand Rapids and over to Chicago), but UNLESS it is some Eisenhower like NATIONAL Highways Project that is going to put countless to work for decades in achieving it and making it beneficial to as many people as possible and ALL States — I DON’T WANT TAX DOLLARS DOING IT!!!! We have the same High-Speed Rail little-pieces games to garner Federal handouts here in MI to put in a short-stint with no care or concern for any real long-term argument/plans.

The States can team up as a Regional cooperative, and develop and pay for each of their own pieces THEMSELVES!!!! Especially if we’d finally have calls about cutting the Federal Govt., returning control AND TAX DOLLARS (from ever leaving a State in the first place), seriously!

Please help us defeat McCain in the primary here in AZ. The odds don’t look great now, but there is a LOT of anger here and many people are fed up with him. After MA, who’s to say what is possible or not possible ? JD Hayworth is not an endearing guy, but he is a much more consistent conservative than McCain. When he declares his candidacy, please give some consideration to supporting his campaign.

I like it. It would get his DC socialite, erm, wife out of that backwater of Tallahassee and put them in sophisticated, urbane Port Au Prince, where she could learn to speak frog.

Crist is toast in FL politics and Mark Kirk is not going to beat the Democrat for the Senate either. Both of them are RINOs from the get-go and Mark Kirk has some serious baggage that’s been swept under the rug for a long time. It’s coming to light now and he’s toast in the Senate race–he may get the R-nomination but he won’t win the general. John Arrington is a rising star–he’s a black conservative Republican and is a very sincere man in addition to being a good politician. I was very impressed with him when we were chatting at a candidate Tea Party. One of the best things about being a candidate is that you get to meet all the OTHER candidates and find out a lot about who and what they are. I see Arrington taking Dick Durbin’s seat in 2014–John is definitely a serious threat to ol’ Dick.

That’s just downright hilarious! Must clean my monitor now.
