I’m going to be really pissed if the public’s outrage over the Left’s socialist agenda results in a bunch of RINO’s being elected. If that happens the GOP will lose badly again in a few election cycles as they again fail to deliver conservative solutions to government created problems and continue to fail to shrink government. I demand politicians that not only want to stop O/P/R but to pledge and work to roll back decades of progressivism and restore our liberty.

There’s a lot of buzz around town about Adam. Could he pull it off? I’ve even had a few long-time blue friends of mine say they were going to vote for him over the weekend. Lot’s weariness for the Combine in the state house and Quinn and Hynes are really tearing each other up. Adam is a new face on the scene. Now that would be quite a thing if he pulls it off – just as big as the Brown win if he can beat down the machine in the General. We’ll see.

  • redneck_hippie

We do produce some good men, and if they have the fighting blood, they can win. All y’all who are behind other candidates, as I am, can wish Adam success if he pulls off the nomination. After all, If he goes to the general, we will have the Lech factor on our side!

  • redtillimdead

I had just decided I liked McKenna because he looked like he had the best chance to beat Kirk Dillard. Now it may be Adam. I don’t care who wins this primary, as long as it is not Dillard (my condolences to him, his father died this weekend)
Adam is no doubt the best candidate though.

  • RedBeard

…I’m very sympathetic toward any cause that might interrupt the flow of crooked politicians. I hope Andrzejewski is the guy.

  • SeeBS

I don’t care where he says he is on the issues. I can’t trust anyone who would sell himself as a political OUTSIDER when he is the former HEAD of the ILLINOIS GOP!!! How stupid does he think we are?!? It’s insulting.

  • http://www.voteforteri2010.com teridavisnewman

I like Adam, I truly do. I’ve met him at several campaign events and he’s a right guy, but I also liked Bill Brady and I was torn between the two of them. After consulting with people in the party, I was going to go for Brady BUT I discovered that he signed a bill giving in-state tuition rates to ILLEGAL ALIENS!! On Friday 1/29/10 at another campaign event, I had the chance to corner Brady and ask him about it point blank–I’m a no-nonsense woman and when I ask you a question, I expect an answer. Don’t weasel around, ANSWER THE QUESTION because I respect the straight truth. When I asked Brady what he was thinking about when he signed the bill GIVING IN-STATE TUITION TO ILLEGAL ALIENS, he said that he didn’t think it was right to punish kids for something their parents did when they were children. I pointed out to him that after the Illinois taxpayers finished subsidizing their education, they would NOT be able to get a JOB in the United States because they are here ILLEGALLY. Apparently Senator Brady doesn’t have a good grasp on what the word ILLEGAL means as he again said that it wasn’t their fault–they were children. I then pointed out to him that they were of age–over 18 since they are in college (and COULD BE DEPORTED back to their native land) and SHOULD BE DEPORTED immediately. He reiterated that he thought it was the “compassionate” thing to do. I then pointed out that if my niece who lives in Florida wanted to go to school in Illinois, she would have to pay a very HEFTY surcharge being an out-of-state student–however SHE IS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN! I then asked Senator Brady “Why is it OK to give in-state tuition rate to someone here ILLEGALLY, but not to an American citizen? He was clearly uncomfortable with this line of questioning and was desperate to get away from me and the table full of people that I was sitting with who were obviously unaware that he had voted IN FAVOR of ILLEGAL ALIENS. I am not playing around with the illegal alien issue. Costello (who will be my opponent should I win tomorrow’s primary) has also voted repeatedly to grant amnesty to illegals and this is the WRONG way to go. There is only one solution and it’s very simple: KICK THEM OUT–NOW!! No birthright citizenship for babies born to illegal aliens either. I absolutely cannot support Bill Brady for Governor of Illinois based on his support for illegal aliens. I wanted to support him because I liked his positions on a lot of things but this is one I just cannot get past–EVER.
I have been an adamant and steadfast supporter of tossing out every illegal alien in this country and will continue to do so. LaRaza despises me–and I don’t care. To continue to support Brady after his support of illegal aliens would be hypocrisy of the worst kind. McKenna never had a chance with me because he does not support concealed carry and tried to weasel out of a question about it by saying he “hadn’t supported it in the past” and implying he would in the future–so I asked him POINT BLANK “Will you support Concealed Carry permits in the future?” and giving me a look that shot daggers said “NO”. That was all I needed to hear to rule him out. It was then between Brady and Adam for me and I wanted to hear about why Brady supported giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens from him directly. He told me and I can’t support it or him because of it. I have emailed all of the people on my lists and my supporters telling them why I am firmly supporting Adam Andrzejewski for Governor of Illinois.
I would also appreciate the support of the voters of the 12th Illinois Congressional district tomorrow as I have a primary to win in order to go on and take out Jerry Costello. Tomorrow is the day–let’s get out and VOTE!

Adam appears to be a good, well-intentioned guy that really lacks depth. We have an inexperienced person in the White House that ran on a simple platform and Adam took one from “O’s playbook” in this Governor’s campaign.

Maybe in a few years it will be easier to take Adam seriously if he stays involved in politics. He will never be able to confront the forces in place in Springfield with his idealism.

  • mindee5976

since the old faces didn’t change much for us. It’s time for Illinois to be taken back and returned to a respectable state. Adam has our votes.

  • AceInTX

Half the folks here are talking about him needing to defeat Kirk…and the other half are talking about Brady and the race for Gov.

I could look it up but I don’t have time right now….

  • RedBeard

I’ll take a successful businessman any day, over an experience politician. The governor’s job is one of executive management, and Andrzejewski has that depth.

No comparison to Obama, who has never run anything in his life other than his cute little law school newsletter and his big mouth.

on this poll until I hear otherwise. Something doesn’t seem right. Adam touted his internal poll yesterday at a rally. The surge is based on the Lech visit and one would expect that to bring up Adam’s numbers. So what are they? Adam paid for the poll, so why the delay in disclosing them? Is it because they show everyone within the margin of error, or what? I would like transparency.

I can’t help but be suspicious. Anyone who agrees should watch this video on Proft’s website:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/DanProft#p/search/0/P-F0Mgu4TLM

  • IL_Glock21

If you can come away from his website thinking he actually will have the power to manage federal programs, the VA in particular, as a governor of the state, so be it. To me he comes off like the IL GOP version of the inexperienced “hope” and “change” candidate. Making impossible promises but getting support by saying what people want to hear on ideology.

Nothing wrong with his business credentials… but that alone doesn’t get him off the hook for being oblivious on how federalism works. I’ve seen plenty of arguments against Dillard, but compared to Romney’s alliances and policies while in office, his party loyalty indiscretions seem pretty tame. But as for support of Andy, it all seems to come down to ideology and a total disinterest in the fact he’s making promises that expose his lack of basic civics understanding. I really don’t see any substantial reason to support him.

    But that’s me.

  • Laura

Andrzejewski is a fresh face who has garnered some last-minute interest around here. He has sounded better than this, especially during the Republican candidates’ debate, and given that each of the other candidates has one fatal flaw or another, he has seemed like the obvious choice.

Having watched the video clip, we all need to do more homework.

  • msfitz

If elected, Adam could end up as inept as the current President. His basic understanding of the current Illinois political climate is lacking at best. There is a clip from Jeff Berkowitzs’ blog showing that Adam A. doesn’t even know how many Republican Senators are serving in state government right now. Pathetic.

Adam is not electable right now but has potential since he is basically a well-intentioned and likable conservative.

  • redneck_hippie

We definitely do not want to get caught up in hoopla. I hope we can turn the tide away from the clueless and corrupt who have been in charge of my state for far too long. I know a good Illinois Republican when I see one. I have one, Peter Roskam (he’s the guy who held up a pair of handcuffs in the House HC debate). As straight a shooter as you could ask for.

Oh, Richard Baehr of American Thinker endorsed Dan Proft for Governor.

  • msfitz

red neck_hippie is right on the mark.

The video clip says it all and proves that Adam is not ready for this job. I wish he would have chosen a different office for his first try.

Not my guy in the Governor’s race…

    http://www.youtube.com/user/DanProft#p/search/0/P-F0Mgu4TLM

  • RedBeard

His website seems to be talking about the governor’s influence in VA operations, plus the separate functioning of the Illinois veterans affairs responsibilities.

As I understand it, some of the initial processing of VA benefits starts at the state and county levels, a sort of paperwork triage, if you will. I can only assume he is referring to things with which the governor’s office can assist.

  • Dr. Botkin

or not? If he did, he should be automatically disqualified in the Illinois primary for Governor. ADAM FOR GOVERNOR!

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

It’s not like you have an agenda here. You have four comments in four days, all of them bashing Adam.

    Scared are we?

And we all know that once the primary’s over you’ll never post here again.

  • redneck_hippie

someone else? My agenda is the poll is hot air unti I see actual numbers.

My comments are there for the world to see. Not all two years and 3 months worth, but over the past several days.

    Sigh.

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

I didn’t reply to you. I replied to the 4 day wonder msfitz

Follow the blue lines and be less hurt :-)

  • msfitz

Not bashing Adam but pointing out that he is not ready to be the Chief Executive of Illinois. Selling phone books successfully is not running state government.

You have to clue as to how government works before you can run it. I’m sure any of our recent Governors couldn’t run his phone book business as well as he did (without ending up in jail).

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

What are you going to do if he wins the primary, and Democrats try to use your heated, unfounded rhetoric against him?

    Settle down.

Or should we start digging for skeletons in your guy’s closet?

  • msfitz

Sorry you don’t think my comments have any validity since I am new to this group. Time spent typing on message boards does not measure the true worth of logic.

I have spent over 8 years years of service in my Township Government and continue to serve in that capacity. Additionally, I am a Republican Precinct Committeeman.

    You???

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

I point out your attacks on Adam A. have no backing, and you change the subject.

  • RedBeard

In all seriousness, good for you in participating so much in local politics.

But that’s not Neil’s point. You must admit that all you have posted since you arrived is a series of Andrzejewski bashes.

With any luck, we can at least agree that whoever wins the Republican primary needs to be elected governor.

  • mikerazar

are not judged by how long you have been here. They are judged by how much sense they make. To me the best thing about Adam is his lack of “political” experience. Who cares how many republicans are currently in the IL State Senate? I do care who will try to govern from principled conservative views. Sure, he may have to learn to deal with the reality on the ground in Al Capone’s state. I suggest he watch a few episodes of the Untouchables for inspiration.

Your point on experience is valid, but not the comparison with Obama, whose main problem is his ideology. I’m confident Adam will master the veto pen in a few days and will excel at issuing pink slips to the political appointees who infect Springfield. After that, the rest is gravy.

I do have one question. How does he differ from Proft?

  • msfitz

I just don’t want a train wreck any more than I want to see the status quo reign supreme.

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

    Why don’t you clarify that?

  • Achance

spent much of the last couple of weeks down at the Leg, and I’ll admit, I couldn’t tell you how many Rs are in ether body off the top of my head. I do have my handy-dandy Juneau Empire Legislature Guide here on my desk and have the website bookmarked, but I guess I never thought it necessary to carry that number around in my head.

  • IL_Glock21

He promises vets he’ll get the VA to give us the money to choose where we get our care… that’s entirely federal controlled. If he doesn’t know this, he’s woefully ignorant. If he does know this, he’s extremely dishonest.

As far as the state run county vet offices who help you fill in some forms to send off to the federal agency, there’s little in his promises that affect that. He makes a great deal of federal level policy promises even though he’s running as a state governor. He either doesn’t have the slightest clue on what he’s talking about or he’s not beneath lying to constituents, even disabled vets, with empty promises.

If it’s not abundantly clear, those empty promises or blatant lies to disabled vets is what has me the most riled up against this guy. Other than saying things people want to hear, I can’t see any reason why people are supporting him instead of disgusted by his tactics or ignorance… whichever it may be.

  • Richard Mullins

I think that’s the way to handle it. While Mr Andrzejewski seems to not be as able to understand basic things, there is time to get things in the right way. I don’t think that hitting him hard like this is the way to go. In fact, it seems to not work well. Also, there is point of what happens if the person you want in the Primary loses, will you still vote Republican? That’s a very good question to ask you. I may not live in IL but I do know that muddying up the process is not good. You’ll have to live with the choice for 4 yrs or until that person get impeached, whatever comes first.

  • redneck_hippie

You have to run the gauntlet of hostility before you get the key to your office door. My guy isn’t of the system, but he does understand the system. I think Proft’s point isn’t that Adam got the numbers wrong. It’s that he is starting from scratch.

  • msfitz

I feel that the Obama Administration is a train wreck; inexperienced candidate surrounded by the establishment Dems and academics with no real world experience. I really don’t want to see a parallel administration in Illinois. Don’t know that would happen but it is a risk.

I really want to hear Andy “mature” politically. He is fundamentally sound policy wise but needs to prove just a bit more than business success. He just hasn’t made me comfortable with his ability to lead and I have seen in more than one forum. I reiterate, I really wish he would have worked his way up through an office or two before making this run or worked within government somewhere. Let’s face it, weak candidates are what have brought Illinois Republicans to such a disastrous end here in Illinois. Yes, he is an “outsider” but maybe just a little bit too “outside” in that he could be bowled over by the crooks that reside in Springfield. You have to stay way ahead of the status quo in Springfield and if Andy wins this Primary, I hope he is a quick study.

  • wardjh

politically suited for the job of Governor. However with the rest of the competition somewhat tainted, it makes it a bit easier to handle. I do agree that perhaps he should have shot for Treasurer or Comptroller since his big push is to go through the budget line by line. But those two jobs have little power to do anything except yell and shout.

I do believe that anyone who runs against what the Democrats are running will have a better than even chance to win. So to me an accountant with conservative ideals is not a bad choice.

  • Laura

But, thanks to the brilliance of those who define district lines, I am “represented” by his antithesis: Jan Schakowsky!

I hold out some hope that Joel Pollak may mount a challenge with some strength, but he’s awfully young and I’m not sure how much support he will draw.

I am glad you appreciate your Congressman, Redneck…I do too!

(And thanks for the tip on Baehr’s endorsement. I’ll read up.)

  • redneck_hippie

On the state pension? My dad (a retired teacher) will only vote for someone who’ll honor all the pension commitments of the state and not seek pension reform.

If he’s good on that my dad’ll vote for him.

…in his issues page on the budget.

    http://www.adamforillinois.com/Budget/

He advocates for reforming how agencies report on pension issues in the budget and raising contributions to pensions and lower cost of living adjustments. There’s also a bit on pensions in his corruption blurb but mainly just talking about it being part of how we’ve funded our deficit.

as he pledging to balance the 13 billion dollar budget defcit in his first year in office. A guy who has stood in the state legislatior for two decades doing nothing I realize he knows how stupid that is.

Also over the weekend it has come up that McKenna donors had also ponyied up almost a half of a million dollars to Barry’s 08 campaign and the IL GOP’s investigation into “Poll gate” (I attached it below, it is 315 pages but the first 13 sum it up nicely) came out.

and take another look at Adam. I for one see way too many red flags when it comes to Adam. Also, let me state that with less than 24 hours left until we vote in Illinois, I am quickly going into the undecided column. I may not know who I will actually vote for until I get done with my morning coffee tomorrow.

First, the cult of personality around this guy. Does noone else see how his followers just fawn over him? Does this not remind you of someone that we all agree also has a cult of personality around him that now resides in DC? Those of you outside of Illinois may not be able to see it, but those of us that travel the state and attend different political events can attest to what I am saying.

Second, Adam seems to have a little bit of an ego problem. I received his “Standing at the Crossroads” email yesterday and in it he states in the second paragraph,
“My candidacy represents an exciting opportunity for the Republican Party in Illinois. I also believe that the nomination of any of my opponents will precipitate the permanent degeneration of the Illinois GOP.” Seriously? So it’s now or never? Does this mean that if he loses tomorrow, the IL GOP is dead, and he’ll vote 3rd party, or run 3rd party? Pretty bold statement holding himself up as the Illinois “Messiah”. Does this country have room for two Messiahs?

Finally, experience and reality. Adam is a novice who will be expected to go up against the likes of Mike Madigan, Barbara Flynn Currie, John Cullerton, and James Clayborne Jr., as well as deal with whatever influence Mayor Daley has in Springfield. I’m afraid that Adam is out gunned considering the Illinois Republicans barely have a foothold in the General Assembly right now and will be hard pressed to lend any help to Adam to get his agenda through. Then there’s Lisa Madigan, Mike Madigan’s daughter, who is the Att. General (and will if she is re-elected). What is stopping her from challenging Adam’s executive orders in court? So now Adam has been handicapped by the political giants, lack of GOP membership in the GA, and a hostile AG. That’s a tall order for a Springfield “outsider”.

  • Brian Hibbert

Normally I would say it doesn’t matter who you pick, but the last year shows that the Lt. Gov may become an incredibly important pick. Pick someone of good moral character.

I’ve only met Don Tracy out of the Lt. Gov candidates. He seems to be a good person. His views are conservative and he’s pro-business. He’s the owner of a fairly large food distribution company in west central Illinois, Dot Foods.

I can’t tell you anything of significance about the rest of the Lt. Gov. field.

  • http://www.downstateiladvocate.com anacreon

My first pick is Jason Plummer, but I don’t have any problems with Don Tracy. I’ve met both of them and they are both fantastic individuals.
