This Sunday the nation will be treated to a very controversial thirty second advertisement during the Super Bowl. It will be about a mother whose doctor told her she had to have an abortion because she was ill and her son would either die or be severely handicapped. She chose life instead and her son, Tim Tebow, grew up to quarterback for Florida.
There will also be a series of ads with scantily clad women and misogynistic men engaged in onscreen sexual perversion and debauchery akin to dogs in heat. NOW and Planned Parenthood have no problem with those commercials this year. Pam Tebow is enemy number one.
The wrath of the pro-choice organizations and feminists betray the lie that is pro-choice. Pam Tebow wants us to know about her choice, but these groups want to stop her. Had she instead filmed a commercial in which she praised her doctor’s advice and had an abortion, these groups would be fine. Subtract away the nonsense of the non sequitur and we’re left with an inescapable conclusion: pro-choice groups view only one choice as meritorious.
No one could be surprised if a pro-life group were upset by an advertisement in defense of abortion. Pro-life groups believe there is only one right choice — life. But it is a bit dumbfounding, assuming we accept pro-choice groups at their word, that a group whose existence revolves around the right of women to make a choice about their bodies would be enraged and threatening boycotts because one woman did make a choice about her body and her baby.
It becomes less dumbfounding if we stop taking pro-choice groups at their poll tested word and admit that pro-choice groups are pro-abortion groups. They do not want you to know that choosing life when your doctor tells you to choose death is legitimate.
NOW and Planned Parenthood could have taken out their own ad. They could have shown a woman praising her doctor for telling her to choose death and, but for taking her doctor’s advice, she might have died. “Might” is why the ad would fail and “I had an abortion, you should too” would probably persuade a lot of people … persuade them to choose life. Mrs. Tebow’s doctor told her Tim “might” die or be severely handicapped if she chose life. She did anyway and the results speak for themselves. The hypothetical never wins against reality.
As Washington Post sports columnist Sally Jenkins pointed out today, one might think feminist groups would hold Tim Tebow up as the standard bearer for how men should behave. He spends his summers on mission trips, delivering medical supplies to impoverished countries. He does not hop into bed with every cheerleader — in fact, he has been upfront about his virginity, making a famously bawdy sports press embarrassed when Tebow mocked them for asking the question.
There’s not enough space in the sports pages for the serious weighing of values that constitutes this debate, but surely everyone in both camps, pro-choice or pro-life, wishes the “need” for abortions wasn’t so great. Which is precisely why NOW is so wrong to take aim at Tebow’s ad.
Here’s what we do need a lot more of: Tebows. Collegians who are selfless enough to choose not to spend summers poolside, but travel to impoverished countries to dispense medical care to children, as Tebow has every summer of his career. Athletes who believe in something other than themselves, and are willing to put their backbone where their mouth is. Celebrities who are self-possessed and self-controlled enough to use their wattage to advertise commitment over decadence.
You know what we really need more of? Famous guys who aren’t embarrassed to practice sexual restraint, and to say it out loud. If we had more of those, women might have fewer abortions. See, the best way to deal with unwanted pregnancy is to not get the sperm in the egg and the egg implanted to begin with, and that is an issue for men, too — and they should step up to that.
But Tebow is the enemy. There are a number of reasons to hate Tim Tebow. More precisely, there are seven reasons: F, L, O, R, I, D and A. This commercial and Tebow’s scripture painted face are not in the list of reasons.
The beauty of Pam Tebow’s commercial extends beyond the message of her commercial. The commercial takes a position held by a majority of Americans and blows away the smoke and mirrors put up over a number of years by abortion advocates and feminists. The groups that run full page ads of women with duct tape on their mouths every time a Republican President nominates a judge want to put duct tape on Pam Tebow’s mouth. The groups that praise the poll tested phraseology of “pro-chioce” really do not want anyone to hear about the choice they deem illegitimate. God bless the Tebow family for taking the slings and arrows so the rest of us can revel in the hypocrisy of the advertisement’s opposition.

A visionary coward says that anger can be power, as long as there’s a victim on TV - Flat Top, Goo Goo Dolls
It's not just powerful argument, but a sound argument against abortion.
Chemical Sam Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:13PM EST (link)Tim Tebow’s existence, and consequently his potential for a successful life, absolutely depends on the historical fact that his mother adamantly decided not to abort him in utero, against doctor’s recommendations. One cannot separate the two events. In order for one to happen, the other HAD to happen first. That is the point of the advertisement, to illustrate that sound logic.
When a women can demonstrate that, through aborting her child in any other circumstance but to save her own life, she will have created for herself a situation for potential success where none existed before, then the pro-abortion movement will have a sound counterargument.
And that is why there will never be a 30-second commercial in response to this one about Tim Tebow. There is no counterargument. I can’t ever imagine a scenario where there will ever be one.

Even if it’s just business, it shows more gonads than we’ve seen from an MSM outlet EVER.
Question: What will happen when one of the three (okay, two - NBC will never consider it) major broadcast networks wises up and takes a hint from FOX? As a purely business decision, being mindful of the stockholders, one of them decides to try the ‘fair and balanced’ approach over the airwaves?
Answer: Dominance.

The radical feminists seem to hate being female.
penguin2 Tuesday, February 2nd at 11:57AM EST (link)I have no other explanation for their decades long assault on traditional women and the mainstays of a society grounded in
family - marriage, motherhood, fatherhood and passing on to the next generation, a better life. Their shrill voices, IMO opinion, have only increased the burden on women, and caused women to actually be degraded in a society that places sexual exploitation over modesty and restraint.
Their “pro-choice” is a smoke-screen for pro-abortion, and they indeed are enraged if they perceive that something or someone will be able to expose them for the hate they live by.

randy streu Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:02PM EST (link)while we were talking about this “controversy.”
To me it shows, very simply, that we’re talking about a deep-rooted culture of murder. This is about ending the life of a child — and they know it.
Otherwise, as has been stated, they would applaud an ad about a woman who “chose” for herself and her son.
NOW, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc. are not simply social activists concerned about “women’s rights.” They are murder-endorsing fascists, and they know it. They just don’t want US to know it.

renny Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:05PM EST (link)is death.
As a woman, I do not want to take away the option of abortion in extreme cases. But as a former high school teacher and now college professor, I know from my students that often a young woman who is sexually active has two or three abortions before she is 20.
Then we wonder why we have an infertility epidemic among late-marrying 30 year old women.
Worse, in the Sara Palin hysteria from the “women’s groups”–who really have low membership numbers–several “feminists” said they now view a first abortion as a rite of passage, like getting a driver’s permit. Whadda disgusting proposition.
Abortion is at best a filthy action full of blood and fluids that ends a life. At worst, it is now an altar for ideological worship, enshrined only in a bad Supreme Court decision that is now seriously at odds with the advances in medicine and neo-natal care.
The groups opposing the Tebrow ad on CBS are delusional, and we have to acknowledge that CBS has shown some guts in not backing down or backing out when confronted with such vehement opposition.

it’s a lie that abortion is only a choice…it is the taking of a human life and murder in the first degree because it requires a premeditation in order to carry it out.
I will say…in the Dugger’s case…an abortion would have been justified earlier because the continued pregnancy posed a threat to mother and baby…they chose to carry the baby and give it the best chance to live! and praise the LORD..SHE lives!

Richard Mullins Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:50PM EST (link)instead of using the Abortion tack. Letting the child be born is the best thing. I have no problem with a family like the Duggers have the child be born. It’s much better to have a principaled Christian family with lots children have one more, than a “flash in the pan”, it’s all about me person. The more children in a Christian environment the better. Abortion is murder and for some strange reason if some state senator or Representative only come up a Sonogram law in some form, the Abortion loving people think they want to get rid of their Cherished thing. The more they know, the more it gets hated. Pro-choice is another of those lying words we use too much. Let’s refer to Pro-choice as Pro-Murder and Pro-Life is still the same.

Tebow's ad is pro-choice too
tankertodd Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:16PM EST (link)From what I’ve read, the ad simply presents one option to women. It’s pro-choice, and it is presenting the option of life. How the pro-choice people oppose that position just absolutely reveals them to the core. They are very bad people. Un-American.
You get a sense that perhaps the Scott Brown pro-choice guy is different than the radical NARAL pro-abortion type. Some people support the choice because they don’t want government involved and some people say they’re pro-choice but in reality they want to destroy undesireables in some psycho-commie fugue state wacko plot of some sort to undermine America. I get that now.
This all leads me to think that our side needs to distinguish between the two - the Goldwater conservatives who want government out of our reproductive health/abortion decisions but hate abortion and desire to eliminate it and regulate it; versus the militant baby-killers, with whom very few agree.
Needless to say, of course, that any living being with its own DNA and blood supply is a life that must be protected. It is not a mass, tumor, growth, or part of a woman’s body. It is a life and a separate biological entity. It could be the life that cures cancer or saves his/her platoon in combat or raises a family with a kid that cures cancer, etc. Abortion is antithetical to what we’re all about as a species.

The "Pro-Choice" argument is weak so they want to stifle debate
Marcus_Traianus Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:24PM EST (link)Imagine the irony in advocating poll tested positions such as “pro-choice” while simultaneously wanting to disarm the opposition by taking away their right to speak. If their argument against life is so strong, why do they always have to shout and deny others the right to tell stories which expose their lies?
I suppose it is the egregious harm that may come to some who view this ad which is probably the “pro-choice” motivation. After all, if it causes one person to abstain from sexual activity, one young man to see women as something more than a sexual conquest, one person to change their mind on choosing an abortion, one person to see the possibilities in life, not death- it would cause such terrible harm to our society. Why it actually might help create a few more responsible adults in our country rather as opposed to legions of spoon fed, dependent, irresponsible liberals who are nothing but acolytes of a sad, self indulgent, destructive political religion.
“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

'Pro-choice' is a calculated political posture.
azaeroprof Tuesday, February 2nd at 1:23PM EST (link)At least in the political arena, there is no such thing as ‘pro-choice’. There is only pro-life and pro-abortion (or if you prefer, pro-abortion and anti-abortion). The whole ‘pro-choice’ moniker is a cleverly crafted and misnamed position designed to give pro-abortion politicians a political base from which to fight against the pro-life majority in the country. They have been very successful in suckering many Americans into believing it is some kind of “individual rights” issue (most recently referred to as “reproductive rights”) while completely ignoring the rights of the unborn.
Remember, at one time Ted Kennedy was fervently pro-life. And my first exposure to Bill Clinton was on a special episode of Phil Donahue’s show where he was introduced as a “new” kind of politician: a Southern Pro-Life Democrat. Both of these guys and many other Democrats who are politically ambitious have latched onto the “pro-choice” label and used it towards their own benefit, leaving the 50 million to bear the price.
Thanks, Erick for helping to shine the light on this dark corner of American history that will hopefully be remembered in the future with the same kind of shame we feel toward slavery and the treatment of Native Americans.

"Pro-Choice" Goes Back To The 1970's...
Ausonius Tuesday, February 2nd at 1:40PM EST (link)…when the Leftists saw they were losing the debate on whether human life began at conception, or the (silly) debate on whether a fertilized egg is “human” life at all.
William Safire traced the phrase to an essay written by a certain Alan Otten:
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/09/16/magazine/on-language-right-on-dead-on.html?pagewanted=1
The point is that the Left does NOT want to be known as “Pro-Abortion” since the language is too blunt in that phrase. They use therefore the euphemism “pro-choice” to refer obliquely to the equally oblique phrase “a woman’s right to choose.”
They are willing of course to use the phrase “anti-abortion” to characterize their opponents, which does reveal the nature of the game.
Ausonius: 310-395 A.D. Teacher, Poet, Consul, General, Farmer.
Personal Tutor to the future St. Paulinus of Nola and to young Gratian, heir to the throne during the turbulent final years of the Western Roman Empire. When his former student Gratian was assassinated, Ausonius threw up his hands and retired to his farm in Gaul. Rome was captured by barbarians 14 years after his death.
