EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Why It Is Important

If you are reading this on February 10, 2010, TODAY IS THE DAY.

Tomorrow, February 10, 2010, Senator Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund is launching a money bomb for Marco Rubio.

You need to understand specifically why it is important that this be a success.

DeMint is under massive and sustained attacks from establishment Republicans for daring to challenge the hand picked candidates of the Washington GOP crowd. These people think you and DeMint are a joke. These people think that you cannot beat them at what they view as their game.

They blame Jim DeMint for pushing Arlen Specter to the Democrats. Even the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal attacked Jim DeMint for endorsing Pat Toomey. But now Toomey is beating both Specter and Sestak in the polling.

Then there is Marco Rubio, the target of the present money bomb. The Republican leadership in Washington flocked to Charlie Crist. They launched “on background” attacks against Jim DeMint in Roll Call for daring to step out of line and back Rubio.

And all the while they said DeMint could not win. He could not raise the money. You would not give the money. And the conservative effort would fail.

That is why it is important to support this money bomb. That is why it is important to give what you can. Show Washington that Jim DeMint and conservatives across America will take back the Republican Party from the leaders who support compromising with Obama on national health care, who support bailing out automakers, and who support plans like TARP.

If Jim DeMint fails, it will be seen as our failure.

Go here, read the note from Senator DeMint, then give what you can. And if you can give a little extra to help the Senate Conservatives Fund, so much the better.

I’m in for $100.00. Who is with me?

It’s the least I can do for the movement even though it’s not much! If it weren’t for donations from across the country, I wouldn’t be calling Scott Brown my Senator!

  • Aaron Gardner

And kicked in an extra $50 for the general SCF.

Tweet it out today and get the donations coming.

  • lockedandloaded

just for expelling Specter from the GOP.

I may kick in another just to kick a little dirt in the establishment’s eye.

  • peg_c

I’m out of work but hubby and I will contribute what we can to the money bomb. I totally support DeMint in ALL he is doing! The moderate wing of the Republican Party must be beaten, set on fire and stamped out to dust.

Shared with 645 conservative friends on FB as well, with a red siren!!

    Up the conservatives!

$787,000 Money Bomb that Rubio is doing himself?? This is why I prefer to give directly to the candidate – there seems to be a rather sloppy overlap of effort here (said with no disrespect for either DeMint or Rubio – they are both AWESOME in my book, but it’s a little confusing to me!)

in the establishment’s eye. Just as with NY-23 and Massachusetts, we are showing what we can do with online activism.

Yes, we’ll stand with you Erick, something about that bridge you talk about defending….

  • JadedByPolitics

to Rubio for tomorrow and I have to be careful at this point because I will reach my max for him before he needs it the most in October-November. I tell everyone I know this guy is so worth the money. He is exactly the kind of Conservative WE all scream about and WE need to show it!

  • jeepingeoff

    We be with ye….

The credit card heats up at dawn.

  • retail1

I have been sending a little bit each paycheck to Rubio and can’t wait to send him a bigger amount tomorrow. I love these money bombs!

  • zollistar

I’m sending (more) money to our side, in this case, Rubio.

Please continue alerting us all to the good guys and gals so that we can support them.

  • shaitra

and will be sending money in tomorrow. If I have to be cold and snowed in at least my money can go some place warm. :-)

    Go Rubio!

  • saltlick

    I am Spartacus.

Whats the max we can give?

  • silverwolf

    Gave 200.

This money bomb will be fun to watch, so count me in.

But just to state the obvious, there’s no reason not to throw a few bucks to Rubio at other times, too. It’s a long way to the primary, and the cashbox needs to be fed regularly.

This guy is the real deal. Every time I hear him speak, he impresses me more. Heard him on Sean Hannity’s show a few days ago, and he was terrific. He could wipe the floor with Crist in a debate, hands down.

With Marco Rubio, we Floridians have a golden opportunity to restore our integrity after the disappointing Mel Martinez era, and an opportunity to send a huge message to the establishment GOP that conservatism is back with a roar.

  • wendy

And to the SCF as well. That smug billlboard picture of Bush enraged me enough that when I saw the message here about DeMint battling against Bush-mentality Republicans, I wanted to support him. Those turkeys, and the WSJ and anyone else who is confused, need to understand that a new day in politics has arrived. The old rules of politicking and getting re-elected are completely out the window. If they need clarification, they can ask their Democrat colleagues.

  • The Pennsylvania Republican

Done this evening. If I get even more ticked off I may double down…

  • dmartin

Seems to me that Rubio and DeMint need to compare notes. This is, on top of being a fundraiser, a publicity event, and one big pot of money would be more impressive than two smaller ones.

I support the cause and will give what I can, but I think the strategy could have been bettter.

  • mrgrgtaz

Please name names so that we patriot constituents will know how and where to apply pressure!

  • hunter4

Expelling her, she ran like the girl she is to the democratic party. Look up ” Ira Einhorn” on line. Specter was the Unicorn killer’s defense attorney, got him out on $4,000 bail and Einhorn fled to France for 20 years hiding out after killing Holly Maddux. Good job Arlen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • soljerblue

    Ditto!

  • soljerblue

we can take a lesson from our Muslim “brethern” on this one…

  • soljerblue

Pat Toomey in PA can also use our help…he’s leading both Specter and Sestak in the polls, and is a solid conservative who would be a blessing to the Keystone State in the U.S. Senate. Also, the guy who’s running for John Murtha’s seat in PA-12 — retired Army light colonel, Russell, lost a close one to Murtha in ’08, and back to try again.

  • leehazel

Of all the RINOS and MSM darlings that need removal John McCain leads the parade. JD Hayworth, a proven conservative, An experienced and bloodied former Congressman brings just what I think most of us are looking for, real honesty.

I am going to watch the Bipartison Health Care meeting hosted by BHO with more than a little interest. If the President goes into his I’m the Professor, I’m here to tell you naught children haw to act” mode. The Republicansneed to walk out en mass.

If John opens his Bipartison pie hole to try for cooperation someone there needs to stick their foot quickly down his throat.

We can not give any credibility to this fiasco. McCain is a ticking bomb.

  • taliesin319

Thanks for the reminder, I just sent my donation and will try to help again if I can.

  • GregInFla

I thought that there was the primary season, with its limit, and then the general election, with its limit. So you can give the max again after the primary. I would assume that Senate races have same limits/seasons as Presidential elections.

  • GregInFla

    Can’t beat that!

  • E Pluribus Unum

I would think so, but I do not know conclusively.
