American Bureaucracy is Insane

I missed this report from last week and it is totally worth highlighting.

Because of the Christmas Day panty bomber and all the other threats and nonsense the Islamofascists are throwing at us, the TSA intends to make us all start walking through full body scanners where TSA agents will be able to see us in all our nekkid glory.

Except the Council on Islamic Relations objected. So now the TSA looks like it is going to carve out a total exception for muslims so no muslim will be subjected to a full body scanner.

Thanks bureaucracy!

    …what’s to stop me (or everyone else) from claiming that I’m a Muslim when I reach the scanner? Not like I’ve got my religion printed on my ID or anything.

    Totally unconstitutional that I have to go through that scanner and a Muslim doesn’t. The Muslim is the reason the scanner is there in the first place.

    Let’s take it to court.

    That line about all Muslims not being terrorists, but every terrorist in recent history being Muslim is so honestly obvious that it boggles the mind that this kind of decision can even be considered.
    You’re a muslim, and you don’t want to allow the exact same scan as everyone one else has to go through?
    OK, but you cannot get on the airplane if you don’t.
    Period, end of story.

    Two things about this– first, it’s run on the same idiotic ‘random’ harassment model as everything else they do. So, when Granny heads off to see her grandkids, in she goes. The 8 year old headed to Disneyland? Ditto. And so on. The Fruit of Kaboom guy? What are the odds? And the second thing is, you can refuse and take the pat down instead. Still obnoxious but not as obnoxious as being digitally undressed, at least to me…

    If you don’t like the security procedures, DON’T FLY! Drive yourself, or take a bus, or the train!

    If you insist upon flying but don’t want to deal with security, spend the money on a private aircraft.

    Don’t have the money? Ah, well. Your problem.

    Of course, I’m of the mind that we’d be safest if we just handed everybody a .357 magnum loaded with frangibles as they board the aircraft. Because who’s going to be stupid enough to start something when they’re flying with 150 other people armed to the teeth?

    If this materializes, I will never fly again, which is fine with me. I’ll just end up enjoying the scenery I otherwise would not have seen in God’s great country of America.

    So what is the point of waiting in a long line to get body scanned?

    The people who get scan are not the one’s doing the destruction and muslims who avoid the scans are the ones doing the destruction.

    When is the nonsense going to end?

    if we give every passenger a half-charged taser, and someone gets himself liquored up and tries to open fire on the stew, no problem (and he/she goes to jail for a long LOONG time to set an example), but if someone hauls out a box cutter and screams “allahu akbar”, well, 150 half-charged tasers later and we don’t have to worry about where he’s going to be tried.

    Travel by air is not a right. If someone doesn’t want to go through the scanner, take a bus.
