The Progressive Insurance Company.
Not exactly health insurance, but still, I think it’s a good idea and starting point.
I’m hit-and miss the rest of the day for being online, so how’s about someone with a bit of time on their hands check into the above mentioned Insurance company and their executive’s and board member’s monetary and other contributions to the current administration’s campaign.
I thnk you’ll find the results rather enlightening.
I also think you’ll find the next ‘big’ somethingorother the administration will go after is auto and other motorized vehicle insurance – with The Progressive Insurance Company listed by the administration as the perfect and shining example of how to do it right. In fact, they do it so right, that the current administration willunfortunately need to make The Progressive Insurance Company the sole insurer of all motorized vehicles in America. Special discounts for electric vehicles and government employeed (excluding military, of course).
Gee, I sound a tad cynical. I wonder why ?

But I believe that the next ‘Take Over” by our Govt will be Life Insurance.
Let’s face it, the rates are really high and the payouts are just not in line with the rate.
We are entitled to be insured for our lives, as we give so much to so many each day we live. The least they can do is pay us back for our effort.
So, I propose that we take a little out of each person’s pay (or welfare check), OK maybe a lot from each. But just think of the return!
You will give, over your life, say $100,000.00 and when you die, you will get back $50,000.00.
But on the way you will have helped so many others who are less, or more fortunate

Meanwhile, gun to your head, if you knew a health bill would pass, and you could choose between something that looked like the House’s bill, and something that looked like the Senate’s bill, which one would you pick? I think it’s pretty clear the answer is “Senate”. It’s more than a little intellectually dishonest to criticize the Dems for compromising their principled hatred of insurance companies in order to make the bill incrementally more acceptable to people like us.

I also noticed in your one other post you were willing to “forgive” the media for their treatment of Bunning and his objection to that highways and unemployment extension bill. There was NO reason for Reid to require a unanimous consent on that since a simple majority was all that was needed. That was pure politics on Reid’s part hoping there would be an objection so he could claim the Republicans didn’t want people to get their checks. His politics was shaped more by civil rights sympathies (eg he saw to it that the entire adult male black population of our town learned carpentry–which I believe Mr. M. actually did quite well with) and an unending frustration with being unable to reconcile in his own person having called out coordinates and fuse lengths for V-1s heading into Antwerp with watching hours-old footage of boys being loaded onto Hueys during his dinner rendezvous with Mssrs. Huntley and Brinkley. The first and only person I heard him curse as a child was Kruschev. There was brief excitement about carrying a Give Peace A Chance outside Bob Stafford’s office one snowy Saturday, but then McGovern lost and life moved on.
He couldn’t understand Reagan’s policies, but at least respected the man. Nor did he once spurn me when I veered from Walter Mitty commie/hippie/draft dodger (too chicken, too 4-F, too young, too late) to theo/poli conservative. Many of those Greatest Generation Dems could teach today’s a thing or two about what “liberal” really means.
