EDITOR OF REDSTATE

A note from Congressman Randy Neugebauer

Congressman Neugebauer sent along the note below and asked if I’d post it. Gladly. I also sent him $30.00 yesterday. — Erick

I am Randy Neugebauer, the Congressman who said the Democrat’s health care bill is a baby-killer. Now, Democrats are demanding that I apologize for it. I think Red State is a good place to respond to that request, and Erick Erickson was kind enough to allow me to do so.

While the floor of the House was the wrong place to shout out my objection, the fact remains that this legislation will kill babies. And yet, in the face of bi-partisan opposition, Democrats passed the bill anyway.

We now have a clear mission. We must fight like the lives of our children depend upon it. They do. I will fight to repeal this bill. Will you?

this year is sort of a no-brainer. It will be interesting to see which GOP morons disregard this obvious strategy.

We need to make sure that none of the social conservative pretenders make it through the primaries, too.

I, for one, have had a lifetime’s supply of RINO’s at this point.

  • ashland_avenue

    No explanation necessary.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • smitch61

God speed.. I support you, I will send you some greenback.

  • Woo_girl

Stand tall, stand brave, don’t let these bullies get to you. From what I understand an apology was given. I don’t see the need for any further. It’s just nan getting her dommie jollies at this point.

  • lizabtha

Congressman.! It is a, and they are, baby-killers. At least in spirit. Now, why do we have to be so darned polite with these people? Who are THEY to demand apologies? THEY should be apologizing to US, the American people, while they are helping to repeal their monstrous health care take-over.

  • reddogreport

I would have preferred if Rep. Neugebauer had said that he would only apologize if Stupak apologized for voting to use taxpayer money to pay for abortions, but I am still going to support Randy.

    Another $30 on the way.

  • nessa

Thank you for responding here, you spoke the truth and we’re all behind you!

  • http://hillbillypolitics.com Steph C

I read in an article that he had apologized to Stupak but it’s his choice.

I don’t believe there needs to be an apology for the truth and he spoke truth. If the person about whom the truth is being told is offended that is his or her problem, not that of the truth sayer.

Still, he’s a good egg and worth support.

  • spim

simply realizing a *small* portion of the ramifications of this amazing travesty of legislation, passionate outbursts seem quite appropriate

I do not think an apology should be made.

We should be demanding *their* apology.

They are *cowards* hiding behind red-herrings such as this “offensive” outburst.

  • http://www.objectivistcenter.org/ Eric Olsen

You refuse to apologize, and my wife and I will be more than happy to send you $100 on this date 30 days from now.

No offense, but after the last 18 months, we’re rather tired of being burned by Washington.

Remember Joe Wilson? He tells the truth — “You lie!” — and then the mealy-mouthed in our Party, like John McCain, demand that he apologize. And then he does. Pathetic.

This was a fight for our liberties, and McConnell, Kyl, McCain and all the Republican senators — ALL OF THEM — were too damned cowardly to FIGHT on the floor of the senate, employing every possible delaying tactic using the Senate Standing Rules.

Remember the “rationale” for allowing the Christmas Eve Eve vote? I watched Jon Kyl explain it to the Arizona Republican Lawyers Assn. luncheon after it happened. Somehow, the vaunted Republican “leaders” were going to force a highly embarassing vote on the debt ceiling, and then somehow they were going to drag the thing out, blah, blah, blah. It was pathetic to watch. This after, in response to my question as to why the senators DID NOT employ every possible delaying tactic, he told me and the group that, actually, they DID DO THAT. Hogwash. I didn’t say back to him, “You lie!” but I wanted to. And it would have been the truth.

Both McCain and Kyl also ignored the requests by scores of conservative precinct committeemen to meet with us in person to explain the “strategy” (actually, the lack thereof) to KILL the HCR bill in the Senate.

So, now we have to do cleanup.

First order of business for every conservative should be, in my humble opinion, to get INTO the Republican Party as a “card carrying member” of it — a precinct committeeman.

    Thank you.

They (the enemies of freedom, liberty and life) *use* their so-called rules/laws, only when it suits them. They (the enemies of freedom, liberty and life) *use* the segments/sentences in piece-meal fashion within the Constitution, only when it suits them. They (the enemies of freedom, liberty and life) make others follow those rules/laws, but refuse to hold their own member’s feet to the fire.
Congressman, not only did you speak your heart, but you defended the laws of this land — Never apologize to those who circumvent the laws of this land!
I am proud of you, my fellow Texan!

The bill is an inanimate piece of paper and by itself cannot be a baby killer, that is unless somebody dropped this 2,700 page monstrosity on a baby’s head. It is the people who voted for the bill who are the baby killers because they are enabling the funding. Randy spoke the truth the first time; Stupak and his like are baby killers.

  • Scope

We need more like you and Joe Wilson. You have the guts to speak the truth, which the Progressives are most offended by. It’s like shining a light on a brown recluse spider to them. Good Luck in your re-election, I believe you are needed in Congress desperately.

  • irishgirl

The libs are going to use everything they can to blast conservatives. Hang in there.

  • grandma

You spoke the truth Congressman. I don’t believe you owe anyone an apology.

Not only has congress sentenced millions of babies to death, but also helped assign millions of men and women, who after realizing what they did to their aborted children, to a lifetime of regret and depression, psychological problems, inability to bond with the offspring they allowed to live, drugs, therapy and often financial irresponsibility.

There are a host of repercussions from abortion that many, many men and women face. The human toll is not only about the babies. The toll is so significant, that there are thousands of post-abortion help groups for men and women all over the world.

For further information on this subject, please see www.rachelsvineyard.org or visit any of the links from this page – http://www.rachelsvineyard.org/resources/other-organizations.htm

Many non-healed post-abortive persons have to defend, with their very being, what they did. To many post-abortive persons (this includes people who helped others acquire an abortion), their acts are justified when the betrayal of abortion is numerically magnified and normalized by being common place.

I’m not being “hard” on post-abortive people. I worked with hundreds of men and women over the past ten years trying to help them heal from their life changing mistake. God heals.

God bless you and yours Congressman.

must always tell the truth in plain language. The protection of innocent life is a grave matter, and political gamesmanship designed to coerce one into silence is to be ignored. This is nothing more than a liberal tactic that conservatives have allowed them to use to effectively “gag” any response to the the imposition of their liberal agenda on our nation. This tactic must be categorically rejected by conservatives. Conservatives are to be civll but must call a “spade” a “spade.” Move forward Congressman. The opposition cannot define how to tell the truth any more than they can define the truth.

  • vmo335

no more apologies from conservatives for speaking the truth. Time to stand tall , defiant if need be, and in defence of the constitution.

  • cookcountyconservative

and don’t apoligize – the floor of the House is the place you were sent to speak out. I can’t think of a better place.

Congressman, with all due respect, I know full well it wasn’t you that called Stupak a “baby-killer”.

It was me, along with more than 150 million other Americans.

And this time we’re going to keep yelling until they listen to us.

  • eburke

I pray the the Congressman does not apologize. The truth, as spoken by Randy and Joe Wilson, is the truth and this call for comity comes dangerously close to the atmosphere Amy described in her post re: Ann Coulter’s visit to Canada where speech is allowed only if it is ‘polite’ and ‘reasonable’.

And the fascists get to define ‘polite’ and reasonable’.

Get a load of this quote from Jim Clyburn (DA – SC):

“These guys make up their own rules,”

Are. You. Serious? After all the sh*t they’ve pulled in the last year w/regards to this bill he had the unmitigated temerity to say that *we* make up our own rules as we go along.

How these guy’s tongues don’t snap off their rollers, or how the manage to avoid being struck by lightning never ceases to amaze me.

NO APOLOGY TO ANYONE. The yes votes need to apologizes for putting our county in the hands of a baby-killing tyrant.

But before we fire the Red Queen, we need to have fired Sheppard Smith who is leading FOX NEWS in its relentless march left under the pressure of an unwashed rag-head wahabi.

Here’s Shep “Health Insurance Reform.” What rock did FOX find this sorry excuse for manhood hiding.

FOX is gone. Beck is the only reason to tune in, and in the heat of battle he too has become mesmerized by his own professorial demeanor.

Screw FOX. They are nothing but unwelcomed baggage in a real fight.

  • Brian Hibbert

You have nothing to apologize for.

  • agcam

My opinion is that the Joe Wilson comment and subsequent apology as painful as it was actually worked to bring more attention to what was in the bill…did it provide Federal Funds for abortion? Did it cover illegal immigrants? The incessant reporting did draw more attention to the content of the complex bill and made the people that don’t pay attention, pay attention. Support for the bill dropped after that speech. What is right is right and people could see the lie for what it was.

Maybe I am wrong but I wonder if people (meaning those that are clueless) really know what went down here? Did they realize that Stupak sold out the prolifers and the EO is worthless? The newspaper just mentioned ‘a deal had been made with Bart Stupak and the other prolife Democrats to support the bill’. Perhaps a little more attention here will better our cause for repeal. Stupak looked like a total moron up there defending his case on the motion to recommit.

  • texasgalt

and your hard work for Texas and the country. You’re the real deal!

Keep the little white ball in the middle but keep walking on the right. :-)

  • snowshooze

If the house floor is not the appropriate place to voice an objection…where might the place be? Is not the house floor a place for the meeting and battle of ideals and one of the places where the course of this country would be decided? Where should the truth be heard?
It was your sworn duty and your personal convictions which forced your objection. You did exactly what you should have done.
I would never consider apologizing to a baby killer. Don’t worry about it, you have just stated the obvious truth and we all know the House floor has been dreadfully short of that element.
Better the truth be shouted on the house floor than whispered to the wind.
It isn’t your style they don’t like, it is the truth they do not wish to hear.
Lord, if they actually witnessed the act of an abortion, would they even then change their minds then? That would be well beyond the inconvenience of having to hear the truth. To see it with my own eyes would want me to go blind.
Abortion is one of the most egregious heinous horrible things which could possibly be dreamed of in this world.
Every fetus at this point, given the opportunity would certainly be a Republican.
You did good. If you weren’t passionate in your opposition to abortion, you would be a lessor man.
    Hey…
    Thanks.
    Mark

until all of those who were allowed by the red queen to vote “no” had cast their votes, then voted “no” and defeated the bill.

I can’t help wondering what his fellow Demonrats would have said to him in that circumstance. I feel it would have been much more, and much worse than “baby killer.”

  • caseoftheblues

…I am so sick of Liberals demanding a much much higher level of behavior/rule following for Conservatives than they have any intention of ever adhering to for themselves…and we let them get away with it. They have frozen us in to utter inaction in order to keep them happy..keep them from “yelling” at us or calling us out, demanding resignations, apologies…why are we so fearful of that. When one of them does or says something outrageous ,lies and is blantently caught doing it, aligned themselves with fringe lunatics, behaves egregiously even criminally…they flick their hands at us and dismiss us and ignore us….because they know they can …. we have allowed them to set the rules . Well no more! That strategy of theirs we allowed them to implement has damaged us and has helped to get us into the position we are now. We cannot do what we know we must and take back our country is we continue to play by their rules.

  • leftylurker

How does this support for the representative mix with Redstate’s ban on birtherism?

  • hillcountryx3

The truth is the truth and these people don’t like looking in the mirror. I went on Michigan Politics’ sites today and read some of their local comments and they are just like the ones here, supportive of you and angry with the Stupak sell out.

So if you’re asking us whether we think that Presidential candidates should establish eligibility beforehand (which is what the bill calls for)? Sure, why not? McCain had to, after all, thanks to the Panama Canal Zone thing. It shouldn’t be even a problem for Obama: he was born in a state of the USA, and there’s an actual record of it and everything.

But if you’re asking us to play burn-the-heretic because you don’t like this guy’s willingness to speak truth to power on abortion: my response violates the Posting Rules.

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

I should not have to ride herd on you like that. You get a certain amount of slack for being a lefty who’s managed to survive posting on a left-wing site: if you had just published that netroot conflation of an “I don’t know” into a “Obama is a secret Kenyan planted in the USA!!!11!!!one!!!” in the first place we wouldn’t have had this unfortunate conversation.

    Moe Lane

PS: By the way: you just burned through that slack. Tread lightly for a while.

  • leftylurker

    Response taken.

I’m not asking you to do anything. I was really impressed and pleased that a community I spend so much time lurking in and a little time posting in took such a stand against birtherism.

I’ll return to my regularly scheduled lurking and bow out of this.

when America starts paying for abortions? I’m not going to be one who looks back on these times and wonder whether I as a citizen could have done more to change the minds of others. Congressman Neugebauer made more people aware of this with his action.

When did it become improper to shout on the House floor in the defense of human life? Where is the “honor” in allowing the killing of the unborn to go by with a whisper?

Statesmen stand up against outrage and that’s what Congressman Neugebauer has done and he should be applauded for it.

    Now shoo.

  • Jim Tomasik

    Congressman Neugebauer,

Human life is a gift from God almost equal in value to the forgiveness he provides for our sins. Your statement reflects a resolute conviction that is worth more than the assumed dignity of the Floor of the House. I sat in the gallery and watched these people change our nation into something less respectable after using this gift as a barganing tool.

May God grant them the gift of forgiveness once they understand how terrible a thing it is that they have done.

  • mschmitt

You are a gentleman and a statesman; I am sad that there are those who believe it is more civil to provide cover for those who would take innocent lives than to point it out as fact. You have our unwavering support on this matter.

… and I trust that your colleagues will be more than willing to have congressional hearings which document each and every federally funded abortion (directly or indirectly) from the day this bill is enacted until it is repealed — or Congressman Stupak apologizes for his complicity, ignorance, or both — whichever comes first.

I came across a wonderful book that I have begun to read, “In the Day of Thy Power” by Arthur Wallis. I found a used copy online. I made inquiries and learned that The Christian Fellowship Church at 4600 Christian Fellowship Road in Colombia, MO still publishes it.It was first published in 1956. It is a wonderful encouragement to believe God for wonderful things.
He seeks for people to pray and believe Him. One thing we can all do and should do first is PRAY. God strengthens our spirits through faith…and faith comes from the Bible and prayer. There is no short cut. I believe God is working in answer to prayer. One prayer my husband and I have prayed nearly every day has been to ask God to raise up good men and women who would be willing to run for public office this November. He has been doing just that!!!

Did President Obama say today how illegal aliens are not covered under this bill? He told us in January that illegals were not covered by his plan. I am waiting to hear about this plan. I assume since he signed it, illegals are not guaranteed coverage under this plan.

He’s going to give amnesty to all the illegal aliens and THEN they won’t be illegal aliens anymore. And as an extra added bonus, there will be all those extra votes for the Dems.

  • ramjet2

Liberals, progressives, et al, do not live by the same rules as we, who are enlightened. Their “moral” code has words like ” the end justifies the means”, change the meanings of words to obfuscate the real goal like “social justice” ( sounds good doesn’t it), “liberation theology” and twisting the truth declaring that our founding fathers wern’t what they claim to be to our Biblical principles need a different interpretation that only they can translate with their great wisdom to the new life situation.
To them, it’s not murder (abortion) it’s controlling the over population and removing the burdensome individuals who are not producing.
God help us if these people get any more power!!!

If the floor of the house is not the place to bring out the faults of the healthcare (or any) bill then where is the place? I do not believe any one person or persons were named, it was the bill that was being called baby-killer. I do not care if one is pro-life or pro-choice, the floor of the house is where objections need to be raised. I doubt that many members of the house or senate read every page of the bill, I am sure they had aids read and summarize various sections. We, the common citizens do not have aids to read and summarize.

Thank you for voicing your opinion.

What real purpose is served by having these people spout their drivel? Fox is about to take a huge fall in the ratings by trying to be all things to all people. They too need to get a backbone and strive to report truth, not “fairness”. We can figure out fair, but need truth to “be set free”. One thing I have learned in life is that truth is a two-way street. You have to speak truth just as much as hear truth to be free. Liars are imprisoned by their lies, unless of course they have no conscience at all, then they just lie about lying and we are farther from the truth than ever. So, Fox, just the truth please, we can, and will, do the rest!
