EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Who Do You Want To See

We’re sending out some invitations to candidates, elected officials, and others for the RedState Gathering in Austin.

But as with most things we do here, you should have an opportunity to speak up about who you want to see too.

So have at it. Put your requests in the comments and we’ll see what we can do to make it happen.

And register here.

Speakers are great. 20 of them in two days……no. That was the biggest downside to ATL, you just couldn’t get 5 minutes to visit with the friends you had made online for 4 years.

I would like to see JD Hayworth more than anyone. If our aim is to elect as many conservatives as possible, John McCain must go. Hayworth can beat McCain (Rasmussen has McCain up by only 7 points) and RedStaters need to get with the program. An appearance by Hayworth would seal the deal.

Bill is a black conservative republican facing incumbent Brad Miller. He has an awesome message.

Mike Pence and Paul Ryan are doing great work right now. Fred Thompson also does a great job of rallying the troops.

  • http://itsaboutfreedom.proboards.com IronDioPriest

    Lt. Col. Alan West.
    Ambassador John Bolton
    Sarah Palin
    Jeb Bush
    Dana Loesch
    Andrew Breitbart
    Fred Thompson
    Marco Rubio
    Paul Ryan

It would be awesome to have either Mike Pence or Paul Ryan or both if you can get them. I think they a large part of the face of the conservative movement and would love to see them.

  • http://barnettlaw.org Frozen_Man
  • itrytobenice

    Michael Williams
    Adam Kinzinger
    Nick Popaditch
    Nikki Haley

Maybe you could invite all the hot new conservative candidates and have a time that each one who could make it could give a 10 min stump speech and then a handshake, visit with us time afterword.

  • itrytobenice

    All of these.

Can we make this a week long deal? Or maybe two? :)

  • snowshooze

I wish I could join the gathering in person, and hope the new gear is all tamed so you can post it all up by then…
    When are you having it?

Anyway, Pence, Ryan and Boehner, great bunch of guys, Hayworth is someone I think I want to know more about. McCain is a great guy and I am certain he has all our personal respect, but he runs off making decisions on his own rather than doing the job he was sent to do—Representing the constituents.
Ted, well, he sure isn’t shy, and may well feel honored to attend, and his attendance could really help us out. Anybody have his number??
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Christine (Trelaina)

at the Rockingham County GOP meeting a few weeks ago. He is a good man and I think he can win against Brad Miller.

Another NC GOP member to look at may be Tim Johnson, the current Vice Chairman. He had a spectacular message as well.

  • fpete13527

    Some additional requests

    Rush Limbaugh
    Michelle Malkin
    Pam Gellar
    Jack Cashill

  • Menlo

Instead, we need to be persuading our representatives to oust that RINO from his speaker’s position. We also need real conservatives heading the state affairs and calendars committee.

However, I think Dan Patrick would make an excellent contribution!

  • redtillimdead

    DOUG HOFFMAN

  • mbecker908
  • http://itsaboutfreedom.proboards.com IronDioPriest

    Let’s invite…

    Nancy Pelosi
    Harry Reid
    Barney Frank
    Keith Olbermann
    Michael Moore
    Sean Penn
    David Axelrod
    Michael Newdow
    Jeremiah Wright
    Andy Stern

    Just for the warm-ups…

  • IJB

If he can stand up to the scrutiny of RedState patrons and not come off like a doofus (and, no, I don’t mean just as far as mbecker and SteveLA are concerned!), I imagine it would lend credibility to his candidacy.

But if he crashes and burns as far as RedStaters goes, I think we can move on and look to others in other states..

  • Christine (Trelaina)

If I get there (I’ll hopefully know for sure by end of the week) I will definitely want to meet some of you and have some social time.

In addition, it would be great if the speakers were invited to those social hours!

  • IJB

Perhaps they can do a “Red Eye” from the convention itself, and have one of the frontpagers as a guest panelist. :)

I have been waiting for someone to describe last year to see what it was like.
    Anyone?
My wish list: Jim DeMint, Bobby Jindal, Michelle Malkin, Mark Steyn.

    No RINOS.

  • http://www.hopeychangemas.com VizBiz

I’ve met him several times too and I may volunteer for him. His biggest problem right now is the stigma that since he’s black he must be an Obama supporter. Let’s break that stigma this election cycle.

  • Swamp_Yankee

    I’d want to “see”

    S.E. Cupp
    Dana Loesch
    Dana Perino
    Megan Kelly
    Sarah Palin
    Michelle Malkin…

  • AHL

Are we looking to invite pols or pundits? For pundits, I nominate the following:
    Jonah Goldberg
    Mark Steyn
    Andrew Klavan
    Rob Long
    Bill Whittle
Antonin Scalia (I guess he could be both a pundit and a pol)
    John Yoo
    Michele Malkin
    Richard Epstein

    For pols, I nominate:
    Thaddeus McCotter
    Paul Ryan
    Marco Rubio
    Jim DeMint
    Michele Bachmann
    Eric Cantor
    Anyone from the Cheney family

  • E Pluribus Unum

Folks I would love to see there:

    Thomas Sowell
    Paul Ryan
Jeb Hensarling (he’s in the neighborhood)
Jim DeMint (who is my guy for president in 2012)
    Bobby Jindal
    Michele Bachman
    Andrew Breitbart
    Salma Hayek

    Return visits:
    Liz Cheney
    Michael Williams
Pat Toomey (who had the unenviable Friday night opener spot while half of RedState had flight delays due to storms)
    Nikki Haley
    Ted Cruz

Here’s my problem. I love all these people, and about 30 more who would be perfect. I just want to have significant time to hang with my RS brethren and sistern, sometimes during the day between stuff.

For the record, I am coming down Thursday, so whoever is there early (Caleb!!!) I will definitely hang with. Plus I hope to do some shuttling folks in from the airport, since I will have my car or truck.

  • E Pluribus Unum

    Geez, EPU. WTF???

I meant to put him on the ‘favored returnees’ list.

  • E Pluribus Unum

You’ll notice my list is long on politicians, rather thin on pundits.

Not by accident. Redstate is already its own gravitational force in punditry.

He’s a natural fit for the RedState crowd. People say he’s dry and boring, but you will be shocked at how fun he is to listen to.

  • Cheryl
  • Amy Miller

She’s amazing…I got to meet her last year!

  • Michael Dugas

Should we consider conservative media members?
I too agree with more free time for networking.

    Activist training workshops?

  • smill1953

I agree with Wes_W, “Mike Pence and Paul Ryan are doing great work right now. Fred Thompson also does a great job of rallying the troops.”

I would consider adding Victor Davis Hanson and Mark Steyn.

  • Stan

I met him at the event outside Brad Miller’s office (where he has the video clip on his website). Miller wouldn’t come out and talk to us; he was waaay too busy hiding under his desk.

It’s my sincere hope we can introduce that weasel Miller to the unemployment line in November. Go Bill!

  • Amy Miller

    Cantor
Rubio (met him last year, he’s mindblowing)
    Haley (ditto)
    Paul Ryan
Sarah Palin (tall order, but why the hell not try?)
    Jim DeMint

    Jonah Goldberg
    Michelle Malkin
    Charles Krauthammer
    Steve Hayes (Weekly Standard)

    A Cheney or two???

    George Bush?

    Gen. Petraeus?

    /wishful thinking

and ask them to explain the threats Israel is facing given the outright hostility the Obama administrations has shown toward Israel. If Obama can’t treat Israel with respect, let PM Netanyahu come and talk to friends of Israel directly. Netanyahu is just the sort to do it and tell Obama to stick it. It is not a coincidence that Israel has him as PM during a time when they stand alone in the world.

But it looks like we are building the Dream Team!
Could we get Jefferson, Jackson and Washington too?
Great suggestions, how can we RedStaters help rope them?
    Mark

  • snowshooze

Congressmen Lisa was appointed by her very unpopular and outgoing Father, Frank. We thought it was a rotten deal, until we saw her work. She stands on her own. And with her constituents. She is the real deal.
I am just amazed at what she is doing. I wouldn’t trade her for 20 of her dad. But she is so reserved, you wouldn’t believe it. I don’t think I would like to lose her to the national stage, but if it ment we could all live in liberty, well… I couldn’t complain.

  • EDC

Texas Governor Rick Perry, because he fights.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, to talk about the lawsuit Texas filed with 13 other states to declare Obamacare unconstitutional.

Karl Rove, because he knows everything.

Presidents Bush and Bush live just down the road from Austin. Just sayin’.

Ah, my neck of the woods! Stop by my house and say hi! Magaritas at Chuy’s on me!

I have two young children and cannot leave home.

Be sure to invite someone from local talk radio station KBLJ, like afternoon host Jeff Ward. (FWIW, Alex Jones also has a KLBJ show,) Joe Pags from WOAI in San Antonio (he sometimes fills in fro Glenn Beck) is another somewhat local talker.

Local Reps John Carter and Lamar Smith are good invites.

Ask local darling Sandra Bullock. She owns two restaurants here. Maybe Breitbart can chat about politics in Hollywood.

  • ColoradoRed

I’d like to see (in no particular order):

    *Mitch Daniels
    *Jim DeMint
    *Paul Ryan
    *Rush Limbaugh
    *Chris Christie
    *Speaker Boehner

I’d be content with that. I’d love to meet a lot more people, but meeting the future Speaker of the House (Boehner), the future President of the United States (Daniels), the greatest media personality in the history of the world (Limbaugh), the (X’s fingers) future Senate Majority Leader (DeMint), newly elected Republican Gov. of New Jersey (Christie), and hopefully another future Speaker or President, or both (Paul Ryan) would be good enough for one weekend.

Let’s just invite the same people we hear on radio or tv or read online every day. How boring!

    Sample: ” Mark, you’re a great American”
” Thank you Sean, you’re a great American too”

I don’t blame them. They have to fill three or more hours a day, but what new ideas will we learn from them?

  • cari

And I’d also love to meet Dan Perrin!

  • graciegirl

Have you read his bio and his acomplishments?

He is one of the most competent leaders in America, world’s greatest multi-tasker. True conservative.

He did get very bad advice about the venue of his speech and how polite he should be. Virginia Gov had much better idea, granted. Like to see Jindal in VP position first so America could get to know him while he is tasked with actually cleaning up gov waste. It would be a Waste to waste his talents!

  • http://thestrategery.com keithcottingham

    Daniel Hannan.

  • http://itsaboutfreedom.proboards.com IronDioPriest

I was just referring to his dismal rebuttal to the 2009 SOTU address. With all the buzz around his conservative cred and agenda, he had a shot at being the next big hope for the conservative movement, and he blew it when all eyes were upon him. All the starry-eyed talk of him as the conservative answer to Obama and a great hope for 2012 evaporated after that rank performance.

He’s an accomplished man, no doubt – and a true conservative. I was just making an off-the-cuff comment based on that one observation.

  • itrytobenice

There are some FANTASTIC names on this list.

Seriously, wouldn’t it be a dream come true if we could get all these people? We could make this a month long convention and draw millions of people. Conservatives RULE!!!!!!

    Beware! Candidate Plagiarizing

Red State readers need know the candidate promoted in the blog above has admitted to twelve acts of plagiarism. He plagiarized his ?Charter of Principles? from author M. Stanton Evans? The Sharon Statement (click here) and he plagiarized his stands on issues from Scott Brown, the Republican National Committee and Congressman Dan Burton.
