EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Sean Hannity’s Conservative Victory

Last week, I was playing in the yard with my 4 year old when Santa Claus the UPS Man showed up. The 4 year old took the package from his hands, tore open the envelope, and said, “Hey, that’s that cute guy from TV.”

A review copy of Sean Hannity’s new book, Conservative Victory, had arrived.

Meh. I get these all the time. I have largely stopped reviewing books except for the really goods ones I’m interested in like Mark Levin’s last masterpiece. But Sean’s a friend, so I figured I’d give it a go without much expectation of it being much more than pablum.

I was wrong.

Sean actually has done a very good job and is willing, despite what his critics often say, of addressing the very real problems within the GOP and clearly differentiating conservatives from the Republican Party.

There is a whole chapter entitled “How The Republicans Lost Their Way.” In it, Sean does blame a lot of it on the failures of the Bushies and GOP to defend themselves against left-wing attacks. Amen. I can’t tell you how many of us got tired of carrying water for the GOP when it refused to do so itself.

But Sean goes beyond that. “The Republican Party needs to recognize these failures in order to correct them. We can cry unfairness all we want, but no matter what Democratic politicians do, Republicans cannot excuse themselves by pointing the finger at their rivals. The conservative movement needs to get its own house in order — both by cleansing the GOP of politicians who are mired in personal and professional scandals, and by stepping up and restating its case to the American people.”

I couldn’t have said it any better. “A the behest of President George W. Bush, the Republican Party also lost its way with the sweeping education reform bill Bush proudly called ‘No Child Left Behind.’ The bill was President Bush’s baby, but in spirit and in reality it was contrary to a fundamental conservative belief — that top down federal control is to be avoided and that throwing money at problems does not solve them.” And this came after an indictment of the prescription drug benefit.

Refreshing.

It’s not all diagnosis of problems. Sean delves into why it is so important that conservatives win — from beating spendthrifts within the GOP to the very real struggles with socialism and the appeasement mentality of the left. In fact, the first part of the book is a great summation of the very radical transformative agenda Obama and the left want to foist on the people against their will.

The last part of the book is a clear rejection of third parties and a call for conservatives to not just get involved, but to clean up their own house and take back the country.

It’s a quick read with some good ideas for what conservatives should do.

I appreciate the review copy and I really appreciate Sean Hannity being willing to write frankly about the problems in the GOP. He’s right about wayward conservatives and a GOP that lost its way.

That’s why again and again I pound the table encouraging you guys to support people like Danny Tarkanian, Ken Buck, Mike Lee, Marlin Stutzman, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, Chuck DeVore, Karen Handel, and Nikki Haley. Not only can they win, but they are fundamentally conservatives before they are Republicans.

Look at Tarkanian in Nevada. His opponent, who is well ahead in the polls, just came out in favor of more John McCain style campaign finance reform, in addition to a bad history of tax increases and questionable positions on life.

Sean Hannity is right on the money with what went wrong and how we can make it right. It starts with conservatives being willing to fight and being sure what they believe.

So go buy his book and let’s bring on a conservative victory. And yes, the link is to RedState’s Amazon account. You buy his book, it helps us too without increasing your price.

Amen. I can?t tell you how many of us got tired of carrying water for the GOP when it refused to do so itself

If people will not defend themselves, you reach a point where you let them take their medicine.

The problem is—Bush’s unwillingess to fight, to defend his record, helped cement in the minds of many a negative perception of the GOP. I’m sure that cost us a few Senate and many House seats. Seats we could have used to stave off Obamacare and Porkulus.

It was as if the Bush clan decided they were finished with the GOP, they’d had their fun, and they really didn’t care what happened to the party or the country after they left. Unfortunately, we’re all paying the price, and will be for a generation.

This NYT bozo thinks we won’t get our country back.

He starts with “The far-right extremists have gone into conniptions.”

He has the temerity to add, “Even the optics must be irritating. A woman (Nancy Pelosi) pushed the health care bill through the House. The bill?s most visible and vocal proponents included a gay man (Barney Frank) and a Jew (Anthony Weiner). And the black man in the White House signed the bill into law. It?s enough to make a good old boy go crazy.”

And he ends with: You may want ?your country back,? but you can?t have it. That sound you hear is the relentless, irrepressible march of change. Welcome to America: The Remix.

This guy is off his rocker. Read the whole thing. It seems clear to me that Charles Blow is a racist.

Sean, Rush, Erick and all of us will take our country back. If you don’t like it Charles Blow, well reality sometimes does suck, doesn’t it?

    Danny Tarkanian hasn’t won anything.

Sharron Angle as minority whip and a leader of fifteen legislators, decried the Governor?s massive 2003 tax hikes, hired John Eastman of the Claremont Institute to fight the Supreme court decision when Governor Guinn sued the Legislature to nullify the constitution and allow a simple majority of the legislature to pass a tax increase in Angle v Guinn and used personal funds to defend the Nevada Constitutional 2/3 vote requirement to raise taxes. Angle with Eastman took this case to Federal District Court in Nevada which referred it to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and finally to the U.S. Supreme Court. As a result of the lawsuit, the seven member Nevada Supreme Court has been replaced through election defeat or retirement.

The new court reversed the decision in 2007 restoring the Nevada Constitutional 2/3 provision.

Sharron Angle received the Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion for Courageous Client from the Claremont Institute in 2004.

    – “Sharron invested her own personal funds to fight these unconstitutional actions in court. This is precisely what
she believes the founding fathers meant when they said we must ?pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor? to protect our freedom and liberty.

And by the way, Sean Hannity supported the greenie Arnold Schwarzenegger over Tom McClintock the seasoned and proven conservative!

Perhaps you should all practice what you preach!!

There’s never been a question in my mind as to where Sean Hannity comes from. He is deeply and sincerely appreciative of the blessings this country has enjoyed, and rightly gives God all the credit, with due attribution to the men and principles of the founding generation. That’s a man I can instinctively trust.

That said, I’ve always found him a bit monotonous, favoring repetitive talking points to serious thinking or exploration of events and people that depart from his script. So I am glad to hear that he has written this book that explores the problems and solutions to the desperate situation we now face as a nation. After seeing this review, I am eager to see how Sean’s honesty and love of country translates into a roadmap for rescuing America.

Hannity says the Republicans lost their way. Apparently the elitists at the RNC who hire brain dead underlings to finance outings to a sex clubs and dump thousands of contributor’s money on limos and chartered flights still haven’t found it. Disgusting and pathetic.

Sean Hannity qualifies along with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. And Oh, by the way, don?t forget D?Artagnan. That would be Mark Levin.

The matter isthatthoespeople are from the easter wing of he Republican Party and areattempting to cause a repitition of 2008 in 2012. TGhat must not happen.

  • bobmontgomery

….famously said in a certain highly visible venue that the Republican Party needed to have a ‘come to Jesus” moment. But they won’t, because they’re too afraid of the “racist, sexist, homophobe labels.

about HOW to achieve the goals he articulated. For example, did he say anything about the need for those who keep saying “the Republican Party needs to do X,Y, Z, etc.” that “the Republican Party” is defined by the precinct committeemen IN IT and that “the Republican Party” might actually change if the make up of the precinct committeemen changed?

Did he say anything about the fact that “we the [conserrvatve] people” who are too busy to get involved in Party politics (or just don’t know how EASY it is to do so) are desperately needed to come INTO the Party as soon as possible? So that we, the conservative people, can fill up the half of the precinct committeemen slots that are vacant? So that, in so doing, we, the conservative people, can CHANGE the leadership of the Party and help ensure that the BEST conservative candidates win the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections so that we’re sending conservatives, not RINOs, into the general elections?

I hope he did. Or at least something like it. But, my guess is that, if he said anything about HOW to achieve WHAT he things to be done, that he merely said something like “you have to get involved in politics.” Unfortunately, that’s just not specific enough in my experience. To some, “getting involved in politics” means posting at Redstate. To others, it means going to a Tea Party. To others, it means getting one’s book signed by Sarah Palin.

We, the conservative people. have to UNITE. And the BEST way to do that, in my humble opinion, is UNITING within a “political tool.” The BEST “political tool” we have to defeat the Dems just happens to be the Republican Party. HALF of its PC slots were vacant in the last election cycle. We, the conservative people could CHANGE the Republican Party to our liking if we just INVADED IT in numbers sufficient to fill up as many (I hope ALL) of the vacant PC positions as possible and as soon as possible.

    Okay, I’ll shut up now.

    Thank you.

Ronald Reagan had showed us the way and George #1 ignored it. So we got the Clinton’s. George #2 ignore the way and we got Obama and the entire Left-wingers. We need another Contract with America. We need good leadership that isn’t a RINO in the chairmanship of the RNC. When will we learn that when you stand in the middle of t he road you will get run over eventually. Please Mr. Reagan send your spirit to touch our leadership and resurrect the GOP. Then as President Reagan said “America will be a Shinning City upon a Hill” once again.

Because they know what they believe.

  • federalist45

Republicans MUST listen to, read, and study Ronald Reagan’s great speech and adopt the core principles set forth in it. The 2012/2014 elections have brought us back to a time to choose. We can fight and vote for liberty, property, reduced federal power, and lower taxes, or we can continue down the path of traditional Republican and Radical Left Democrat policies of tax, spend, and increase federal power. The Radical Left will not change. WE must change the Republican Party to offer an alternative–something it has not done since Reagan’s first term. It is OUR time to choose–and if we don’t get it right, the United States of America, its Constitution, and the birthright of our children will be forever lost.

Let’s really have a real revolution and make the MSM blather when Constitutionalist Conservatives win their primaries. I realize we have to support our own local conservatives first and reach out when and where we can. …and we’ve seen a woman, a Jew, a gay man, and a black man.

Who would you prefer to see take over your government and destroy your economy?

    The only thing missing:

    e) none of the above.

“good looking man from tv” lol I think she needs glasses. That’s like someone saying “that cute girl from msnbc” (Maddow)

om Bush. And we need to get just two goals:
    1) Win in 2010

    2) Win in 2012

If we don’t stop these circular firing squads in our ranks, we cannot win. If we do, we cannot lose. Let’s win in 2010 and 2012. If we get it right in 2010 we can emasculate Obama and render him impotent for the duration and make the final incision in 2012 after which time “history will decide”.

I didn’t even get throught the Introduction before I realized Hannitys book would probably be no more thern an extention to his Radio and TV programs.

On page 8 top three lines I noted; And, while the GOP needs to improve its performance, we cannot lose sight of our first priority —– to direct the party back to its conservative roots. The problem I have with this particular statement is that Hannity is doing nothing to bring the party back to its roots when he continually has RINO McCain on his show and not his opponent JD Hayworth.

When he gives Romney time on his show to present the greatness of Romneycare even though, in reality, it is a failure.

And how about the time allotted to Gingrich concerning the success of the Contract With America which, here again, turned out to be a failure, because the Republicans betrayed America.

While Hannity says in the intro to his book ” This is not to say we’ll compromise our principles.” Then goes on to say, “We are conservatives; we know what we stand for; and we all realize that the fate of our nation hangs in the balance.” Those entries suggest to me that he is saying, I understand you have principles but forget them, and vote for the Republican.

It’s because I have principles that I will not vote for any RINO such as Romney, Gingrich, or McCain. Further, because of Palins lack of Committment concerning the Security of the Border, I wouldn’t vote for her either.

I went to a book store and spent about ten minutes paging through it. I searched in vain for anything — anything at all — about HOW to achieve the goals the book sets forth.

The format of the book was, essentially, as follows:

    A. The Dems and Obama are bad.

    B. The Republican Party lost its way.

    C. The Republican Party should do A, B, C, etc. re issues Q, R, S, etc.

Oh, and guess what, the American people should elect more, better conservatives!

Not one word about HOW to do any of that. Not one word about HOW to transform the Party from the grass roots, precinct level.

Lots of Who, What, When, Where and Why. Nothing on How, specifically, to change the Party so it can do the things advocated.

We have a half-strength, ideologically-split Party. If we conservatives filled up the HALF of the precinct committeemen slots now vacant, we’d change that 50-50 spit INSIDE the Party to a 75 per cent conservative majority. We’d be able to elect conservative party leaders. And make sure the BEST conservative candidates win the primary elections. It’s not hard to become a precinct committeeman. And it’s not hard to be one. How much time and effort is your liberty worth?

    Thank you.
