In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Every Easter...
ojmo Sunday, April 4th at 9:59AM EDT (link)I love watching the Pope stand in the opulence of the Vatican and think how sad is the perversion of the religion from what a single, mortal, forward-thinking human male spoke about two thousand years ago.
if you are trying to get banned, you are doing a good job of it
Doc Holliday (Diary) Sunday, April 4th at 10:42AM EDT (link)You start off saying you love watching the Pope. Then you say there is a perversion of the religion. That seems like an attack on Catholics, the largest group of Christians.
But no, you go on to say Christ was a “single, mortal, forward thinking “human male” who spoke two thousand years ago. So now you are attacking all Christians on their most holy day.
I don’t really care what you religious beliefs are. The point is you are attacking believers on their most sacred day. There can be nothing gained from you attack other than the knowledge you want to hurt others, you want to demean their beliefs..
I say to you Good day sir, and I hope you get the banning you deserve.

JSobieski (Diary) Sunday, April 4th at 12:56PM EDT (link)preserving art and architecture that (1) was created long ago and (2) is quite inspiring for the soul is prudent.
The Vatican wastes far less money on a percentage of budget basis than Congress does. Letting things of value decay into valuelessness is just as wasteful as constructing toilets out of gold.

Hugh (Diary) Sunday, April 4th at 3:43PM EDT (link)This post started out as a Happy Easter message from Erick but it got a little sidetracked along the way. But it was pulled out of the ditch and is currently moving along the right road.
Erick posted a Good Friday message that included Johnny Cash and the Carter family. That would lead me to believe that Erick may also like a little southern gospel. I hope he does and maybe some of you too. The below link is one of the most powerful gospel songs that I have ever heard. It is very appropriate for Easter because since Jesus is Risen we will some day see Him just as He was on that first Easter morning.
Happy Easter to all.

He is the Passover Lamb!
jcincy Sunday, April 4th at 6:12PM EDT (link)There are three major feasts described in Leviticus 23. Within in these 3 Feasts there are 7 feasts in all. As part of the Feast of Unleavened Bread there are these three feasts:
1) Unleavened Bread
2) Passover
3) First Fruits
Jesus, the Anointed One of God, is the Passover Lamb. And He fulfilled the Feast of First Fruits.
Leviticus 23:9-11
‘The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. “‘
The priest is to wave the first grain on the DAY AFTER THE SABBATH (Sunday!).
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the FIRSTBORN from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
John 12:24 Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.
He is the accepted first fruit… and those who believe after on Him are His harvest!
He is Risen and He is Lord!

Obama's weekly address
vrwcohio (Diary) Sunday, April 4th at 8:36PM EDT (link)The politicization of his easter comments were not surprising, I guess, but still sad.
“So, on this Easter weekend, let us hold fast to those aspirations we hold in common as brothers and sisters, as members of the same family – the family of man.
All of us know how important work is – not just for the paycheck, but for the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can provide for your family. As Americans, and as human beings, we seek not only the security, but the sense of dignity, the sense of community, that work confers. That is why it was heartening news that last month, for the first time in more than two years, our economy created a substantial number of jobs, instead of losing them. We have begun to reverse the devastating slide, but we have a long way to go to repair the damage from this recession, and that will continue to be my focus every single day.”
