To the Senate GOP Leadership, There Ain’t Nothing Like Having Someone with 100% Name ID Who Can’t Win a Primary Givin’ Them Advice

There is a pattern shaping up with Mitch McConnell’s increasingly feckless leadership in the United States Senate Republican Conference.

Judd Gregg bails to go work for Obama only to return. Mitch McConnell has him as a “counsel” to the Senate GOP.

Bob Bennett, about to be thrown out of office by the Republican voters of Utah, is a “counsel” to the Senate GOP.

Today, Mitch McConnell is naming another counsel — one who, despite near 100% name ID among voters could not even win a Republican Primary.

That’s right, McConnell is naming Kay Bailey Hutchison as a counsel to the Senate GOP.

Remember her? She promised to leave the Senate only to break that and so many other promises.

With wise counsel like that, is it any wonder the Senate GOP failed to wage a full fight on health care and are even now caving on financial deform?

You know what to do people. Support Ken Buck, Rand Paul, Marlin Stutzman, Mike Lee, Chuck Devore, Pat Toomey, Danny Tarkanian, and Marco Rubio.

The NRSC didn’t even put Rubio’s picture on its website until this week. Meanwhile, the boys club’s chosen one in Florida is getting his ass kicked and may run as a indy. Shades of NY23 to follow?

What ever happened to the idea of letting the primary go first BEFORE the national headquarters makes a call, and then all candides falling in line? Does anyone remember Reagan’s 11th commandment?

Do the right thing, have Jim Demint take over. Look what good choices the Senate Conservatives have made!

except Rand Paul. Anyone that thinks Adam Kokesh is anything but an opportunistic lying scumbag, is not suitable for office.

  • shadowtax

That sounds more like a punishment than a reward to me.

Any way we can get President Obama to nominate her to the Supreme Court? Or better yet Lindsey Graham?

  • RedBeard

I don’t understand how McConnell can be so hopelessly out of touch.

  • constitutionalconservative

Jim DeMInt as Senate Majority leader is the cure. Lets concentrate on electing *all* of the grassroots Republicans Erick mentioned above. Every one of them is a vote for Jim DeMint to be the next leader of the Senate’s Republicans.

system that has existed the last 100 years. He is only grateful to have a seat at the table occasionally or get a good seat in the dining room, barber shop or any of the many undeserving perks these clowns give themselves. The conservatives need no nonsense people who will operate within an austere budget and take no prisoners attitude. KBH is just another living example of a lying politician when she breaks her promise to resign. Coryn and L Graham are just others not to mention Orin Hatch, John McCain, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, etc, etc.etc. We need new blood, new ideas, new energy and people with guts who are not afraid to put it all on the line for us.

As much as I don’t like Rick Perry, I’m glad he won the primary. I had no idea Kay was such a RINO until I began following on this site. Thanks Erick for showing me the light.

he is the host of the disease. He has many fellow travelers.

RINO-itis – more contagious than syphilis, less fun to catch.

Is it possible they convinced each other that the anger reflected in the polls and the phone calls and emails is nothing more than a short term ripple, a blip on the radar screen. So what you have now is friends doing other friends a favor by keeping them busy and in the public eye just waiting for the voters to “calm down”. Then of course they will all be welcomed back into the popular fold and soon get a nice state office like nothing ever happened.

My Repuiblican senator from Texas? The one who sits on the Banking Committee? The one I wrote to about Lehman Brothers who never wrote back?

    Why would anyone remember her?

Did she star on Starsky & Hutch?

How discouraging. It’s times like this that I fear that this leadership is going to blow it between now and November. McConnell’s strategy to fight healthcare was pathetic. His current strategy to fight Financial Takeover is even worse. And making himself the face of the opposition, a white, dorky looking, old guy (not a criticism, I’m old, white and dorky looking too. Nothing to be ashamed of, just not great for TV), is not good marketing (fortunately, Harry Reid is worse). I’m just worried that financial reform, Cap and Tax, and Immigration will pass before November. This guy can’t cut it.

The perfect trifecta: 1) Republicans win Senate; 2) Demint elected Majority Leader so McConnell resigns; 3) Bunning appointed to take Mitch’s place (too sweet).

Jim DeMint Talks to Brody File About Whether He Wants to Run for President

    http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2010/04/22/jim-demint-talks-to-brody-file-about-whether-he-wants.aspx

David Brody: ?There are folks in the Tea Party movement that seriously want you to run for President. Would you consider something like that??

Senator Jim DeMint: ?You know, I?ve always thought of myself as an average guy and when I think of the President of the United States I?m hoping that there is some knight on a white horse that?s going to ride that I can look at and say you know this is Ronald Reagan character or the level that we could have.

Frankly, the people that I?ve seen here in politics I realize that I can hold my ground with any of them. There are a lot of changes I?d like to make in this country and I think Americans are going to be ready for someone to tell them the truth next election. Not someone who will give them a good speech but someone who reminds them that the federal government has to do less not more.

I?m hoping we can find that candidate out who has shown himself to be a great Governor or somewhere. It?s not something I desire. Anyone who really desires it does not know how much trouble we?re in as a country because we?ve got some tough times ahead of us and we need a President, who says we can get through it, we can come out better on the other side but we?re going to have to sacrifice.?

  • philbo

that when the GOP elites’ pick wins, the conservatives are supposed to rally behind the RINO but when the conservative wins, RINOs won’t support the conservative? Shouldn’t the RNC and NRSC be firmly behind Rubio by now?

If the GOP doesn’t get it right by November as in NEW LEADERSHIP, you can bet that a 3rd party movement will be in play for 2012.

  • ldc1110

And when he comes back to Kentucky, we do see hide nor hair of him.

  • renny

it was just a ripple, as Reid promises to pass “bank reform” the way they did “health reform,” which is by blackmail, bribery, giveaways, pressure, lies, treachery, and oh, yes, historical importance.

    Cong. is still 202-224/225-3121.

  • bamron

I disagree about Judd Gregg. I was disappointed when he took a position with Obama — although it would be great to have some flies on the wall over at Census — but he did us more good by quitting immediately after he got the lay of the land. Lotta not-so-great PR for the Dems. Judd is a principled man, and so sensible. We NEED some of those type, too!

  • http://www.libertytreehugger.com reverelth

“My bad” on Judd Gregg for not seeing that and dealing with it on the spot.

McConnell punted on procedural moves time and again that could have blocked Obamacare over and over again. He bought into the press about obstructionism instead of dealing with it head on and with principles.

And he’s doing the same now on the financial sector takeover.

These guys just don’t know how or don’t seem to want to win the war.

  • iluvit

for big victories in November even though he has nothing to do with the wins. They will be wins in spite of him, and not because of his leadership.

I have called many times urging others to run for his leadership position. I just cannot take his weakness any more.

  • tonywarren

When it comes to Danny, no thanks. I don’t want a Senator who doesn’t know what form of government we have, has no record to check, and has never held elected office. We are talking the Senate of the Unites States here! Not the City Counsel, the Board of Education or a basketball team. The last thing we need is another politician who is still in training pants.

We can do much better than this in Nevada. We have several non-establishment candidates running and my choice would be Sharron Angle. She has an outstanding anti-tax & spend record while serving our State. In the latest poll, Sharron beat Harry Reid 51% to 40%, so I don’t want to hear that nobody knows her name. We know her name and reputation in Nevada and we are the ones who will select our replacement for Reid.

  • Richard Mullins

If she left when promised(Politicians and promises are 2 things that don’t go together well) or after loses in 2012, it won’t matter. When the replacements showed up, her end was near. Now would be the time to work on good replacements for McConnell(that would be 2014) and his end will near. Same with Linseed Graham.

  • Pizza_God

Please tell me how Kokesh is a lying scumbag. He is one of the few people running I would actually donate money to. (other than the Senate candidates listed here)

I have a hard time when someone calls Kokesh a Lying scumbag because he volunteered to the Marines. Did his time in Iraq and had his eyes opened.

You would understand where he is coming from if you actually knew anything about him.

Yes, he has been VERY vocal against the war. He was a Civil Affairs officer in Iraq, he saw/covered up what he was told. He was NOT your regular grunt, he saw what was really going on.

  • jb123

they don’t know how to play fair their a big bunch of pantsy’s – they need a dog in each race so they can tell them when sit and roll ove.

  • bobandruth2416

Power and politics before the constitution and constituents. Progressivism before conservatism.
What is wrong with these people? They probably have a hate list with Beck’s name on it, as does the White House.

I wish I knew the answer…I’m seeing this golden opportunity to do what is right slipping away.

Keep an eye on Lt. Col Alan West…maybe he can help–somebody has to.

  • itrytobenice

when we didn’t even need one, that politicians of all stripes need to be changed like a diaper and for the same reason. (Thanks Ronald Reagan for the metaphor!)

  • greatbasinconservative

… support Danny Tarkanian? An unknown with no proven track record. Who was endorsed by the Brady campaign when he ran for Secretary of State? We have to stop hoping people like him are what they say they are. Sharron Angle is a far better candidate with a real record as a true conservative!
