Does Charlie Crist Know What Planet He Is On?

Yesterday I was on John King USA talking about the Florida race. Candy Crowley noted something very odd.

Charlie Crist told her none of his staff or fundraisers were leaving him. None. That is not only not true, but some had bolted before his announcement.

Then there is Charlie trying to get Rahm Emanuel to support him as well as Howard Dean.

Oh, and Crist is giving pro-rated refunds to donors. Pro-rated? Really?

What planet is this guy on? Increasingly, he seems out of touch with reality. While trying to spin this as a bold move to transcend politics, the man has been in politics for 15 years. He is a serial opportunist and it’s come back to bite him in the butt.

This guy is a joke.

I wonder if Charlie and Dennis Kucinich have been hanging out.

    Maybe TMZ could find out.

On that movie “Contact”…what was the star – Vega? Maybe Charlie and Dennis are from Vega.

Typical RINO – er, Independent, now. Sorry.

whose been biting Charlie Crist’s butt. ;-)

Crist and Obama sitting in a tree…

I know childish but take a look at who we are talking about.

I hope all his supporters to Rubio.

    I don’t care who y’are.

    Go Marco!

Um… Charlie… Dude… are you snorting your orange tanning solution? Stop it.

  • earlgrey

Charlie Crist offers that. He will vote whatever way benefits him the most.

Mr. Man Tan has obviously fried his brain with all those artificial UV rays. Can’t wait for the spectacular crash of his ego back to earth (guess he doesn’t know about the danger of flying too close to the sun). Pass the popcorn . . .

  • IJB

Assuming that he even sticks it out to November, which I in no way assume…

  • Achance

I’m sure if he performs that great service for the Democrats they’ll have some nice little sinecure for him.

“Charlie Crist gives moderation a bad name….I don’t know where that guy stands on anything anymore” –Mort Kondracke ( http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/special-report/index.html#/v/4172486/oil-spill-fallout/?playlist_id=86927 , about 6:30 in)

So much for winning self-identified moderates. They may not like left or right, but they don’t like Weebles either.

yesterday after watching his announcement. I was shouting at the TV. Do you really think we are that stupid Charlie?? You are doing this for the people? He has done nothing for anyone unless he felt it would benifit him. I had to take a shower, yuk!

  • jerbush91

A professional political figure actually doing something just to benefit himself. (GASP) I thought they all wanted to get into politics to help people and I guess they are too! just turns out they are only helping themselves to all the “free” money they spend or steal.
Crists is now running just to see if he make Rubio lose. You have to love how all these elected officials are suddenly waking up to the real world and think that they can stick their heads in the sand nothing will happen.

Crist just another example of the side effects of drinking the obama coolaid and thinking Americans love moderates.

  • http://pocketchangeproductions.net/ anotherindyfilmguy

it’s likely called called “Splitdavoterson”… but then again maybe he was inspired by Lieberman and thinks he can win?

  • IJB

I’ve gone through some details elsewhere, but unless Crist can get above 20% of the vote, he won’t stop Rubio this year, in this environment, in an open seat race, in FL.

Crist problem is that he has almost *no* constituency in the electorate – Democrats and Obama supporters will naturally vote Meeks, and Republicans and Obama-opponents have *no* choice but to vote Rubio. Crist’s narrow sliver of supporters are basically Independents (and maybe RINO Republicans and weak Democrats) who are weak Obama ‘leaners’. They’re a small percentage of the electorate, and not nearly enough to steal a win from Rubio.

And the lower Crist’s percentage goes (I’m now thinking he won’t get to 10% by November), the bigger Rubio’s margin of victory will be…

  • Achance

We’ve had some awful things happen because of somebody’s ego or because somebody thought some candidate wasn’t pure enough.

  • Common_Cents

He’ll play the victim. He’ll try to marginalize Rubio’s success. Hopefully the people of Florida will realize its NOT about them and send this guy packing for good. I hear there is a great beach area on South Beach for Crist to work on his tan.

At the end of this clip of his formal announcement to abandon the Party is the short back-and-forth he had with Chris Wallace about a week ago where he categorically ruled out the possibility of running as an indepedent. It’s like there’s two Charlies.

    Thank you.

did his pandering to the Teachers’ Union by vetoing that bill. I saw a few signs yesterday about teachers thanking him. How much influence will they have?

Already have my Rubio bumper sticker and I saw another one yesterday.

The masks’ come off, he’s one of *them*.

    It’s good this came out.

Imagine if he were successful in convincing Floridians to actually put him in office.

…Assuming Meeks, and not the Bill Clinton clone, is the eventual Dem nominee.

The teachers union will smile, and blow kisses in Crist’s direction. But there in no way that, in the end, they won’t be lock, stock and barrel for whichever candidate has the ‘D’ after their name in the General.

Crist is deluding himself if he thinks FL’s teachers unions are really in his corner…

  • muffin

That’s encouraging. Hopefully Charlie Suntan will be counting on their votes and get a huge comeuppance on election day. I was SO looking forward to the primary, though. Ah, well, so it goes. Marco can concentrate on the general election instead of wasting money on the primary.
Didn’t look like many people were at the press conference yesterday. Didn’t sound very loud when they were cheering. I’ve seen more enthusiasm from a bunch of kids having a car wash.

  • dio55

I live in Indian River I have spoken to, at my best count, 25 people I know most republicans and at least 7 hardcore democrats, results 5 democrats for meek and none, zero, nada for crist and everyone else for RUBIO . Cannot wait for november

  • AceInTX

Crist, Specter, Scozafava and people like them are what happens when you give people power who have no guiding principles and no moral compass.

It galls me to see the game being played now by the elites in the party that Crist isn’t one of them…just like Specter wasn’t, Just like De De wasn’t, Just like Jim Jeffords wasn’t…and on and on the list goes.

Why is it so hard to understand that people who don’t believe in anything…who don’t stand for anything…who aren’t committed to anything have no problem saying anything…doing anything…and becoming anything in order to forward their own self interests?

  • muffin

He carries a weather vane to see which way the wind is blowing. No principles – no integrity. He cannot stand for anything because he will fall for everything. Shameless.

  • freethinkerfl

four way race. He and Meeks won’t get more than 25% combined. Libertarian Candidate Alex Snitker and Rubio will split the rest. The two major parties are becoming the Republicans and the Libertarians as the Dems continue to commit political suicide

Anybody but Castor is right! Check out Tim Curtis @ www.cu rtis4congress.c om. He’s running as a Constitutional Democrat. Only a Democrat can win this race as it is 50% Dem district. Help Tim win in the Primary and Castor will be out August 24th!

if Meek is in 3rd and has no chance to win the union might well back Crist to stop Rubio.

My feeling is that there is one and only one way Rubio can lose, that is if the entire Democrat Party establishment ditches Meek and backs Crist at the end. Just like in CT in 2006, when Lieberman was effectively backed by the Repubs, Crist’s only chance is if the Dems back him to stop Rubio.

  • IJB

The Dems don’t trust Crist anymore than Republican’s do now.

They’re not going to throw a loyalist like Meek overboard for an unpredictable (and uncontrollable) egomaniac like Charlie Crist.

  • http://impudent.blognation.us/blog kyle8

In many ways worse than many in the Obama Administration. Sure they believe in bad things, but at least they believe in something.

What remains to be seen is can the Republican party finally get rid of most of these type of creeps? Just think how much stronger as a party we would be if our elected officials actually believed in limited government and the rule of law.

Just think of how we would be better off if we had not had the Ted Steven’s, The Arlen Specter’s, and the Charlie Crist’s hanging on us like a millstone around our neck.

  • Martin Knight

His veto of SB6 would suddenly look very ugly indeed. Couple that with his promise to Chris Wallace to not jump ship just before that veto and suddenly it looks like a quid pro quo.

I doubt the Teachers Unions would want to risk that, but then …

Furthermore, let’s not forget that Crist has claimed to be pro-life. Now of course, he’s probably going to claim something else. Either way, he’s not winning the Democrats’ pro-abortion base with the former and he turns off everyone if he adopts the latter position.

I’ll wait till November, but I think Crist may have done some major damage to the so-called “moderate” Republican brand.

in re RINOs have no base.

Now Crist is an INO which really means none of the above. Only the gullible (or insane) could possibly mistake Charlie Crist for a leader of men or any other sexual category. Obvious choice for the people of Florida to make. The status quo or the conservative.

Strip the R brand from a RINO, and the flimsy prop collapses.

  • RedBeard

Crist is the same type of politician as Bill Clinton, wanting to hold office simply because he wants to hold office. He’s not there to do the people’s business, he’s not there to do his civic duty.

With this latest betrayal of trust, Crist has proven his unworthiness beyond a shadow of a doubt. Time for him to be consigned to the political dustbin.

Perhaps he can find a nice cushy position with a slip-and-fall law firm, one that doesn’t mind hiring an also-ran shyster who needed three tries to pass the bar exam.
