The Oil

This is one of the best sentences written about government lately.

I was led to believe that a powerful and active federal government would be good for society at large, but unfortunately the federal government’s ability to be powerful and active is not as pronounced as its ability to be large, meddlesome when its help is not wanted, and slothful when its help is actually needed.

Amen.

Obama admin. has given 27 safety waivers to oil companies in gulf since spill, including to BP. 5/7 McClatchy. They are blaming Bush, but Obama was supposed to be better. He obviously is not.

The inspectors were hired under Bush. A lot of the apparatchik was hired under Bush. It’s all the oil industry and that’s where Bush came from… They’ll pin it on him, as they have with every failure.

The reality is, this has nothing to do with Bush, it has nothing to do with Obama. It has everything to do with

    GOVERNMENT!!!!

Because of the media I am well aware safety procedures were ignored during the Bush admin. Conversely, Obama’s blatant incompetence has gone almost unnoticed, and he has had plenty of time to restore order to the department. I read the article a couple of times, plus heard a detailed interview last night with a representative of the organization that discovered Obama’s malfeasance. The article I reference came out on May 7, but who has heard anything about it? These safety exemptions came after Obama swore he would launch a ‘relentless effort’ to prevent future disasters. One of the waivers came a day after Ken Salazar said he was temporarily halting offshore drilling. I see Obama’s pathetic performance as secondary to the fact that he is protected by the media. That is the number one problem.
