Mike Lee Is Up 9 Points

In the race for Bob Bennett’s Senate seat in Utah, Mike Lee is ahead by 9 points. (PDF)

This is important because Bridgewater can write himself huge checks between now and the primary election to close any gap, so the further ahead Mike is the better.

This also means you need to give as much money as you can as quickly as you can and conservative groups across the nation need to rally for Mike Lee.

Tim Bridgewater is a terrible candidate and will not be a significant improvement over Bob Bennett.

1. Tim Bridgewater was originally for No Child Left Behind. (Source)

2. Tim Bridgewater was originally for Medicare Part D. (Source)

3. Tim Bridgewater was the Western States Coordinator for John McCain in the 2008 presidential primary. (Source)

4. Tim Bridgewater was a registered lobbyist for foreign corporations (In fact, in 2004 he lobbied for the Thai Frozen Food Association so fat cat lobbyist like him could eat more imported shrimp from Thailand) (Source)

5. All of the “businesses” Tim Bridgewater has founded, owns, or advises use government funding, earmarks, stimulus fund, or NCLB money to operate (On one occasion Tim Bridgewater helped secure a federal grant of $1 million for a power company in Indonesia that he is a commissioner for and then in turn hired a company that he is a consultant for)

6. Tim Bridgewater has a habit of purchasing endorsements. (Source and Source)

We do not need a man like this in the United States Senate. Mike Lee is a constitutional conservative who will fight for freedom, not sell it off to fund otherwise unprofitable companies.

    1. Tim fought against NCLB for the last 5 years.
    2. You haven’t changed your mind with what you though 6 years ago?
    3. I voted for McCain after Mitt Romney lost. Mark Shurtleff who has endorsed Lee was also backing McCain before Mitt lost.
    4. Lee has been condemned for not registering as a lobbyist.
    5. Lee fought Utah’s states rights to bring in $billions of dollars to EnergySolutions.
    6. Bridgewater didn’t purchase either endorsement. He did pay

In Utah, Bridgewater’s campaign admits it has provided money to have Gilchrist help the campaign but denies that it was inappropriate. ?What we paid them for was basically to get Jim Gilchrist out to stump for us and all the costs ? the plane tickets and the fees and the help with drafting press releases,? said Tiffany Gunnerson, a spokeswoman for Utah Senate candidate Tim Bridgewater. ?We didn?t think there was anything suspicious or underboard about it, and we didn?t think we would have lost out to a competitor if we hadn?t brought him out,? the article reads.

He did pay for costs to Gilchrist.

It was also leaked by Lee showing Bridgewater in 3rd place for the convention. Bridgewater picked up 57% of the vote on the 3rd round.

I don’t doubt the guy would have taken whoever’s money was greenest, but I don’t care about #4– the shrimp.

As a free individual, I don’t want the government in the business of picking and choosing what I should or shouldn’t buy and from where. Again, I doubt that’s why the guy was doing it, but I don’t really think it’s much of a criticism (unless we’re Lou Dobbs) that he lobbied to probably lower protectionist trade barriers. Also, the ‘fat cat’ class warfare stuff– bah. I want to be a fat cat, I want to live in a place where I can achieve that through my efforts.

I just hope you like 6 more years of Bennett.

What’s your name? And who do you work for?

You sure do have some nerve attacking WRS from the veil of anonymity.

  • Aaron Gardner

Look at your RCP link again. The WRS poll was in Jan and according to the RCP link it tracked with the other polls.

I think you are the one getting desperate by trying to act as if primaries are static events, unchanging as time progresses.

You can’t compare a poll in Jan to the results in June and expect them to be the same. People made decisions in those 6 months.

I don’t know enough about Bridgewater to sort out the positives and negatives here.

But I do know Mike Lee. He’s a great candidate and the epitome of a “Constitutional Conservative”. He’d be an outstanding addition to our Senate team. He’s a *leader* for conservative principles, not just a vote.

Lets make sure we bring him over the finish line.

  • utah_1

ARC, you still keep posting even though you were banned. Why is that?

    1) Was Tim for it before the governor he worked for was against it and made him fight it?

    2) Is that really your response?

    3) Who did you vote for in the GOP primary? Why would you ever think that supporting McCain prior to Romney or Thompson getting out is defensible?

    4) Something tells me you aren’t telling the whole story. But still, isn’t Tim still lobbying for his companies?

    5) Wrong, he stood up for the Constitution.

    6) He paid $6000 for the Gilchrist endorsement. You cannot spin that one no matter what. Sorry.

Why are you letting your hatred for Mike Lee get in the way of your principles?

All the challengers to Senator Bennett worked hard to run positive, issue-based campaigns. Unfortunately, Club for Growth put negative ads on in Utah attacking Bennett. In addition, a mailer that was sent out by an unknown group (the Lee campaign denounced the mailer and denied sourcing it), associated Mike Lee with the Mormon Temple and Senator Bennett with the U.S. Capitol. Most Utahns, including the Lee campaign, believe that these attacks were unfair and unseemly, and may have actually created sympathy support for Bennett at the convention. This mailer has since been determined to have originated from Democratic sources.

Prior to the convention, Senator Bennett went negative against Mike Lee, taking his words out of context and changing his meaning. This was not only unfair, but dirty politics, beneath the dignity of Senator Bennett, spoke volumes to the desperation of Bennett’s campaign to continue “my career”, and revealed that the Bennett campaign knew Mike Lee was the candidate they had to beat. That Bridgewater joined Bennett in falsely attacking Lee, is inconsistent with Bridgewater?s manufactured image of running a ?positive? campaign.

Cherilyn Eager indicated, in a radio interview, that Bridgewater had offered help paying off her campaign debt in return for her support in the primary. Ms. Eager felt this offer was not inappropriate, but she said, at the time, that she did not agree to the deal. Similar concerns have existed that Bennett & Bridgewater agreed to support whichever of them came out ahead in the convention voting. The truth of this ?behind-the-scenes? political horse-trading has been confirmed, in that both Bennett and Eager have announced their support for Bridgewater. We do not need any more back-room deals in Utah or Washington.

While Mike Lee?s work as an attorney has been to fight for less government intrusion on our constitutional rights, Bridgewater?s businesses have feasted off government pork. Senator Bennett did not make it out of convention this year, largely because of his affinity for earmarks and big-spending Washington pork. Isn?t Bridgewater just a younger Bennett? Doesn?t Bennett now support Bridgewater because he conforms more closely to Bennett?s establishment, neo-con views?

Pointing out and contrasting positions, actions, record and other factual information about the candidates is an essential part of any campaign, and in no way is an attack on the opposition. If the record and positions taken by Bridgewater are damaging to his campaign, this is not the fault of Lee.

Mike Lee is not responsible for Bridgewater?s businesses feasting on Washington pork, or Bridgewater?s support for the unfunded mandate of Medicare Part D or NCLB, or for Bridgewater’s early primary support for John McCain’s presidential campaign. Bridgewater himself must take responsibility for his own actions and explain himself, if he can.

It is important for the people to hear about, and critically evaluate, Bridgewater?s record and past actions, and pointing these out is the very essence of a true, issues-based (pork, unfunded mandates, big government intrusion) campaign, to know the proclivities and past actions of those who are being considered for high office.

Bridgewater talks the talk well, but there is substantial evidence that he does not truly walk the walk. In pointing this out, Mike Lee is not ?going negative?, but is acting in the best interests of the democratic process. On the other hand, the fiercely anti-Lee campaigns of Bennett and Bridgewater have ?gone negative? by taking words out of context, mischaracterizing Mike?s work as an attorney, and twisting the facts to their own advantage.

We need a true fiscal conservative and constitutional expert in Washington to help us deal with our current economic and constitutional crises. Mike Lee has the background, experience and character best suited to helping us take back our country. Please join me in voting for Mike Lee for the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate on June 22.

All I can state at this point.

Then obviously Lee is the better candidate
