Put Georgia 8 on your radar

Meet Austin Scott.

He is running in a district that leans decidedly Republican, having been won by both George Bush and John McCain. But the district is held by Congressman Jim Marshall, a Democrat and my former law school professor.

If the GOP is going to take back Congress, it is going to have to take back this district. Jim Marshall is a card check sponsor and TARP supporter, among other things, but the local Republicans have gotten used to him.

Austin Scott needs a serious and immediate infusion of cash and outside group support to beat Marshall, but I believe this is the year to beat Jim Marshall. Polling of likely voters put the race even or Scott ahead of Marshall.

Still, Marshall is sitting on a million dollars and Scott needs to get competitive.

I took his class as well

Was my properties professor my 1st year. Only class I got the CALI award and I have a soft spot in my heart for that little notation I was able to put on my resume out of law school. He always did come across as a more conservative democrat even when he was the Mayor of Macon, but it would be better to put this seat in Republican hands.

What about Georgia 5th?

I haven’t seen anything on GA-5.
There is a challenger, Fenn Little on the Republican side. He’s a Civil Rights lawyer. I know John Lewis is a beloved (groan) CR icon and the district is heavily gerrymandered. I have seen a TON of Fenn Little signs, but none for Lewis.
Maybe he is so safe he doesn’t need to do anything?
Will the 2010 Census change the 5th? We’ve got to get rid of Lewis. He simply cannot be allowed to get away with lying about what “didn’t” happen in March on the Capitol Hill steps.

Didn’t know our district was on the radar, I’ll see what I can send his way.

Conservative Republican

Isn’t it an odd statement on current politics that candidates must modify the word “Republican” with the descriptive adjective “Conservative.” No longer can we assume a Republican has conservative values. Harumph!

Perhaps, but...

Republican is a rather tarnished description, especially when it includes the Glimmer Twins from Maine.

Republicans can fake conservatism from time to time, but RINOs have records and the truth will out.

One presumes that these republicans running as conservatives will at least vote against those bills which clearly don’t enjoy the consent of the governed.

Meanwhile, the RINOs and establishment types might well run as conservatives… but give themselves away should Obama pursue his agenda… with “republican” support. I think that everyone has had enough of this agenda.

Perhaps Obama is just a straw dog who has produced for the left, but will enact as much of his agenda as possible, then walk away after one term having accomplished everything he set out to do. (He’s going to walk away a very wealthy man, one way or the other.)

Let’s hope that card check and cap n’ tax are a bridge too far.

has anyone looked at CD 17 in NY?

We have a primary and could use help–the Republican candidate York Kleinhandler won all caucuses / convention votes here but a progressive in sheep’s clothing is forcing a primary. (I say progressive because he supports Puerto Rico statehood)-York is an Afghan vet, special ops, former fed marshal, businessman, opposes this Ground 0 mosque, and is fiscal conservative. It would be lovely to see Eliot Engel go home and teach typing at high school like he did before he slithered into Pelosi’s lap. His wife wont like giving up her 350K a yr lobbyist gig, tho.

Marshall fools many voters

I live in Marshall’s district. He is as liberal as they come, but he manages to pass himself off as a conservative. Jim Marshall only votes against the Pelosi agenda when she allows him to do it… and it’s enough to fool most casual observers.

Spread the word… WE NEED TO GET HIM OUT!
