B. J. Lawson Might Shake Up NC-4

#alttext#

I’ve been saying for a while that there are congressional districts out there that’ll flip to the GOP in 30 days that were not even on the radar.

Put NC–4 on the radar. Democrat Congressman David Price is running against Dr. B. J. Lawson who is giving Price a run for his money.

Several polls have come out in the past couple of weeks showing the race within points and well inside the margin of error.

Lawson is also trying to reach a goal of $225,000.00 in cash raised as of today and has $5,000.00 to go. This is one of those seats we need to take to take back the House.

Lawson is endorsed by FreedomWorks and others. He looks like a pretty solid guy.

I cannot tell you how liberal Price is. The universities and black population are helping him considerably, but there is also a strong health care presence here (Duke and UNC Hospitals, Wake Med, Rex, etc., as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield HQ), and a strong conservative presence.

I had once thought this race was tilting at windmills. I am off today putting up signs.

he’s a big Ron Paul supporter so we’ll have another conservative/libertarian in Congress!

We are still worried the dems rounding up busses of people offering their usual carton of cigarettes on Nov. 2nd… national attention will help to get out the vote. Thanks again!

For those unfamiliar with the state, to say that Dr. Lawson is giving Congressman Price a run for his money in NC-4 is a big deal because this district runs dark-blue liberal to the core most of the time. This is where most of our state’s self-proclaimed “intellectuals” call home. Please help in what ways you can.

Another hopeful upset in the making is over in NC-7 where Ilario Pantano is challenging Mike McIntyre.

The environment in this state has been?well, ?flat-lined? is the best way of describing it. This has started changing lately and I’m extremely grateful for that much.

North Carolinians may be coming late to the gathering of ?like? minds on conservative issues, but not too late!!!

    Looking forward to November!

If Price is having a tough time in the NC-04, then we must be competitive in the NC-07, the bully’s district (NC-02), NC-08, and Heath Schuler’s district (NC-11 )as well.

Dr Benishek, Dr Dejarlais, Dr Lawson. Who am I missing? We’re going to end up with more docs in dc than lawyers. Hope to send his some cash when more funds my way. Good luck Dr. Lawson.

Renee Elmers is running against him. Michelle Malkin has gone public in supportimg Elmers. I haven’t seen any polls on that race lately so I’m not sure where it stands.

Schuler is rather popular over in NC-08. He was one of the few that voted against PPACA, TARP and stimulus bill. In comparison to most Democrats, Schuler is pretty conservative. He has more funds to use for his campaign than his opponent, Jeff Miller. Still, there have been polls about this district in the past that haven’t even come close to the election vote. It truly is a district where GOTV efforts end up being significant.

Johnson hasn’t been able to gain any traction against Kissell in NC-08. In that district, Kissell has established a somewhat personal relationship with a lot of his constituents. They think he is a man of “high integrity”.

I’m hoping that the people of my state will choose to flip at least three of these five seats.

Looking at the map and being a former resident of the Central Area for Relocated Yankees (Cary), including Durham, Chapel Hill and Cary in the same district makes it pretty darn blue.

I hope that Price goes down flames. While we’re at it, let’s send Brad Miller to the unemployment line with him. Go Bill Randall!!!! His web site is

is right but miracles do happen.

I told someone from NC the other day that please please focus on state senate and house races. It would be huge to see NC’s republicans win both the house and senate.

If look real careful you can see how NC4–NC13-NC2 is gerrymandered in Wake County. Durham and and Orange County-to the NW west of Wake County is ultra liberal. The Wake county portion of NC4 actually leans republican in most races–not all but most races. NC13′s portion of Wake County includes most of downtown Raleigh and most of the AA community. This portion is quite liberal and provides the bulwark of that’s district democratic vote. The portion of NC2 Wake County also leans democratic and helps that district lean less republican then it should.

If things work out in Nov–the GOP can put Orange and Durham county with the AA population in Raleign and create a super democratic district. That would make NC13 & NC2 much more republican.

I’m excited about the chances that Lawson has in his opposition to David “earmarks have gotten a bad rap” Price and would love to see him join the other 10% of Americans he helped put out of a job by being unemployed himself.

I will admit I gladly pulled the lever in 2008 for Lawson while he wasn’t my first choice in the primary, and I really hope this is the year he pulls it out!

Good luck to you Dr. Lawson!

Always felt like the District should be a lot redder than it voted. I think it is because you have many transplanted NY, NJ, and PA voters there. They reflexively vote Democrat because that is how their parents voted and didn’t really pay much attention to what folks were doing once they got to DC. Maybe that’s changing.

Also, you have Duke, UNC, and NC St so the fact that Price, a former professor, does well is not all together surprising,

to be endorsed by both the Independence Caucus and the Republican Liberty Caucus. Both have a vetting test and endorsing process.

Glen Bradley in the 49th house district is also endorsed by both iCaucus and RLC. Dr. Dan Eichenbaum was as well but did not make it to the primary election.

Can someone tell me what Freedomworks policy is for endorsement? Who decides who is endorsed? Are they really “grassroots”…Dick Armey?

Lawson is the best candidate for the federal election in the state but freedomworks is lucky to have the honor.

Policywise, Lawson and Amash are by far the best two possible (in Amash’s case, all but certain) new additions to the House. If they both win, it will be like having 3 Ron Pauls there, rather than just one.

And it’s really encouraging to see Red State being so supportive of this shift in the GOP.

It’s tough, but Lawson is an impressive candidate who is the right sort of fit to bring over swing voters here. I followed his campaign closely last cycle and this and think he is definitely worth spending time and money on.

    is going up against Dingell.

Don’t forget about Glen Bradley, candidate for NC House District 49. BJ Lawson, Bill Randall and Glen Bradley are 3 of the candidates endorsed by iCaucus. We must take the legislature this year for redistricting.

Glen is running a very frugal campaign but the Dems are starting to put up the money for the opponent. Check Glen Bradley out. http://glenbradley.net/
