Failure

Barack Obama says his Presidency will fail if the tax compromise fails. Let’s help him!

Nancy Pelosi is having a hard time getting enough votes. The more Republicans we get to vote no, the harder a time Nancy Pelosi will have getting Democrats to make up the difference.

Go here now and call your Congressman. Let him/her to oppose the tax compromise.

    Sorry.

I cannot in good conscience ask my congress critter to vote for a tax increase which would severely hurt my family and potentially cripple my business.

I want what is good for America, not necessarily what is perfect for political strategy.

I will fight by and die next to you on the hill labeled budget (e.g. the stunt Reid is trying to pull) to push for sane and safe fical policies.

I will not, however, fight to increase taxes across America and leave government with a large chunk of my hard earned cash.

Rush is correct, the tax cut doesnt cost a thing. It is spending which puts us in a hole.

Keeping taxes low puts pressure on the spending side, where it (pressure) should be.

The Obama family probably doesn’t celebrate, since no holiday has been devoted to him yet, and how can you be proud of a country like that?

and what do the Senate Republicans do, they look the gift giver in the face.

It is Memphis, TN’s Commercial Appeal.

you are voting on reckless spending. How do you propose we afford to pay for the extended unemployment assistance? We are in the hole already, we can’t afford it. Some Repubs pushed to get it paid for and were shot down. While I know that no one wants to see their taxes go up, we must stand on principle.
Liberty is not free and fighting for it will cost you something. I am willing for my taxes to go up if it means striking a blow for freedom.

Yes the Republicans voted to Raise taxes yesterday, especially if you own a business or farm/ranch. They voted to Raise taxes from Zero to 35% on farms/ranches and business owners. It is called an Inheritance Tax Increase.

Also they voted to Raise the Deficit–Raise Spending–Borrow more–Passed more Earmark Pork spending and Raise Taxes. This less than 6 weeks after we voted the Tax and Spend guys out.

No it is business as usual in DC for Repubs as well as Dems. It is still Smoke filled Backroom deals that do not see the light of day until After they are passed–just as Nancy Pelosi says “we have to pass the bill before we know what is in it”.

Remember, this is the same bunch that lost the House and Senate just 4 years ago and just when we have a chance to win them back, This garbage is passed.

Any Senator who voted Yes yesterday has no business being out-raged at the Omnibus Budget Bill today. They voted to do exactly the same yesterday!!

Thankfully 2012 campaigns start in less than 14 months, in the mean time we should be Blasting out Repub Senators to throwing us under the bus they are driving now. If this fails to revive economic activity, The Repubs own it, not Barry, Harry & Nancy!

it is still only a temporary hold on the current tax rates. Will that stimulate significant job growth, while you have ObamaCare and every other job sucking piece of legislation out there? And when the job growth fails to materialize, every Dem will point to how the “tax cuts” didn’t spur job growth (completely avoiding the jobs “saved” statistic so in vogue currently).

It will be used against us one way or another if its passes. Let’s just do it right in January.

  • victrola

If this tax bill fails, Obama’s chances of getting reelected go down SUBSTANTIALLY. It was absolutely idiotic that Republicans cut this deal with him to save his Presidency. We had him cornered and we blinked.

Krauthammer was right, Republicans were snookered.

Meanwhile, the Republicans should oppose EVERYTHING that Reid and Pelosi try to do before the end of the session. When taxes go up in Jan. for everybody, most will know it’s because the Democrats wanted to do a nasty deal. When the R’s improve it in Janurary, retroactive to 1/1/11, the people will know who is serious about getting the USA’s house in order. The Omnibus bill should also be defeated, opting for a continuing resolution, via the House, should also be defeated. There’s only one way to get federal spending under control, and that’s by starving the central government. Starve it, even if it means starving it to death. We cannot afford to allow any of this nonsense.

that our Congress would do this to us. They are holding us hostage.

Either economy killing taxes will take effect or they will spend more money than we can even imagine on graft, corruption and cronyism. I hate those people.

If they had an ounce of honor, they would pass a 3 month extension on the current tax structure and let our duly elected representatives negotiate a bill. The lame duck Congress has been repudiated by the voters. Their hubris in continuing to profess representation of us by voting for major legislation is astounding.

The Right thing to do is voting down this Tax Compromise and then very shortly after the new congress sits putting forth a responsible Tax Bill without wasteful subsidies and bogus pork and a Death Tax of any percentage. And then make it retroactive and point out all of this publicly and loudly! There’s a wave of calls for a No vote from both sides, use that. By the time it gets rectified we will control congress and they will have their chance to show the people they are serious about fixing this economy.
This 2 year tax bill stimulates nothing! No businesses plans for just 2 yrs out. So businesses are NOT going to be moved to start spending OR expanding NOR hiring until they get a sense of some stability in the economy and the government is able to lessen the fear that’s out there that it’s going to get worse real soon. It doesn’t even rate as a band-aid.
And come on,… the Death Tax again? I thought that bit of theft was over with finally. We are getting nothing but more unpaid for debt and the Democrats are getting more “not so free for the people” time to plan a way to save their butts over the extreme mismanagement of an entire country.
We are not going to pull this country and its economy back from the brink with lousy compromises, more criminally wasteful spending and additional taxing of the investing/business tax bracket.
It’s not time to be all cordial and nice like. It’s time to fight and use every parliamentary trick in the book to slow down the destruction of wealth and prosperity in this country and the HOPE for wealth and prosperity for this country and its citizens. The class warfare must be beaten back and the Constitution must be saved and followed.
BTW this Tax Compromise is actually Un-Constitutional in my book. Spending and Tax legislation are supposed to come form the Peoples House, The House of Representatives and then, if called for it proceeds to the Senate. NOT the Senate to the House.
That pesky little Constitution, always sticking its nose where it DOES belong.

    G-d Bless America

American Spectator this morning is reporting that House GOP members were worried this bill would be scuttled, so they started threatening their own people with pulling appointments if they didn’t vote to help Obama and the dems out.

and was sickened that there were threats to Republican committee members, that there committee assignments would be pulled if they didn’t vote to help the Dems out. And, who was one of the ones supporting the threats, Erick Cantor. And this is to be the new House Majority Leader. I’ve been reading for a while now that he just throws his weight around and is not lacking in arrogance, haughtiness, and elitism. How sickening.

I remember when I first started really watching him. Something wasn’t right about him. Too slick-looking. He seems to be more concerned with telling people what they want to hear than what they know is true.

Sadly, from what I hear, he’s not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. So, I guess we’ll have to watch him and flame him when he steps out of line.
