Friday Promotions

Melissa no longer has to make the coffee around here. I’m pleased to announce that Repair Man Jack and DHorowitz3 are our newest front page contributors. We’ll be ordering both of them around and Repair Man Jack is going to get to take out some trash I’m sure.

Consider this an open thread.

It is tomorrow at high noon.

I wanted to go, but airfare is close to $1,000. Anybody know of any Organizing for America buses headed up there from the TN. Maybe I can slip on an Obama shirt and get a free ride.

  • WY_Cowboy

The fight against the public employee unions in Wisconsin is the highest stakes political battle in recent memory. It is a national struggle not just confined to Wisconsin. Now that Obama has thrown in, the stakes in the outcome couldn’t be higher for 2012. This will set the tone for the election and the successful party in this struggle will have a mandate in Washington.

This fight is bigger than the 1995 budget battle – and this time we have the high ground! Keep encouraging all the GOP Governors to stand strong and not give one single inch.

  • acat

Congrats! You’ve volunteered for a difficult job, with very little thanks.

Since that’s the case, let me say “Thank you” to you both now, so you’ll have it for later, when it feels thankless.

Congratulations to both of you! This is well-deserved, and I second acat’s appreciation.

than pro-forma Republican. With that in mind, might I suggest that hosting guest columnists such as “Leon Wolf” (thread about Lara Logan) is counter productive. As one commenter noted, Mr. Wolf’s initial column, and numerous ripostes to commenters, were in the vein of an exalted and all-knowing one speaking to those of minimal intelligence. This “dissenters will not be tolerated because they’re wrong and hence evil” stance tends to be more identified with the Left, at present, although many on the putative right are hard at work to equal their left liberal brethren. I am increasingly giving a pass to numerous movement conservative websites because of the growing intolerance to any but the accepted viewpoint, based on classic liberal norms. I’m not a libertarian, or a neocon, or a Ron Paul adherent; I’m not a right liberal; neither am I particularly evil nor unintelligent nor even uneducated. I merely disagree with certain standard shibboleths, and if you are comfortable with others at your website dismissing dissenting voices as stupid and/or intolerant, then perhaps I should increasingly give Red State a pass too.

Congratulations to you both, RMJ and D3. You’ve earned it.

Now, we have extremely high espectations. You’ll get used to drinking from the firehose soon enough, and then we expect the same quality as you’ve been showing.

Breaking news, shows that the NM seat now joins the others in play for a pickup next year.

Probably worth its own diary entry full of speculation on who they’ll run and who we will run, but I don’t have enough for that, so in the open thread…

  • hoosierteacher

Not a lot of info. But I got it from Drudge, and now Weekly Standard has picked it up as well. Fox isn’t on it yet.

I follow senate elections religously, and expect Fox to have something in about five minutes.

According to Dick Morris, three Republican Senators, Chambliss, Coburn and Crapo, are working on a tax reform plan that would include autiomatic tax increases to take effect to balance the budget if and when a tax increase is not otherwise enacted.

I am not at a loss for words, but will not write what I am thinking.

You’ve once again found good quality writers and given them an excellent platform.

    Congrats RMJ and DHcubed.

In a pale-blue state that usually gives the GOP head-aches. Hopefully, she will consolidate support early, easily see off her challangers and then benefit from a good Left vs lefter blood-letting on the other side.

Serves RS well to see more of these fellows.

Perhaps you should educate yourself about RedState and its Contributors before you suggest that an individual with six years’ service as a RedState Contributor and Moderator is a “guest columnist” whose views should be unwelcome here.

Just food for thought. I suggest you consume it.

who has been a regular front page writer since 2005? If so, I’d suggest you take that factoid into consideration.

  • Dan McLaughlin

I ask because Leon has been a front page Contributor on this site for more than six years.

Didn’t publish when it was supposed to.

  • hoosierteacher

one of the earliest contributers at RS, but he was correct in his article.

So let’s see Sheila; longtime contributor writes a post that new member Shelia doesn’t like, thus get rid of Leon. Just wow.

I think you put as much mental effort into this crazy attack on Leon as you did on the attack against his article.

    Sad.

  • Brian Faughnan

You should click on the author’s name, If you click on his name, you will see his writing history. It’s better to be informed before popping off.

  • hoosierteacher

You can just promote mine! lol

Seriously, I’d like to see yours go up real quick. I’ve always been facinated with the senate elections, and would appreciate your take.

  • Leon H. Wolf

I look forward to your comments explaining how I am short, slender, and have a fulsome head of hair – but do try to space them out so as to maximize the entertainment value.

  • Brian Hibbert

    Both are excellent writers.

I see it being used in different ways. Here?s the definition from Urban Dictionary (and this is how I?ve known to use it):

    1. kowalski 77 up, 3 down

The nickname given to a dependable blue collar grunt type of person always in the background doing the hard work supporting the hero, leader or boss but never getting the glory or basking in the limelight. A common name used by the American film industry for a minor supporting actor?s character.

Because Corporal Bradshaw always accomplished the mission without incident or drama and never received recognition from his superiors, the platoon called him Kowalski.

kowolski dependable grunt blue collar nickname

    Any thoughts?

I must say, I chuckled so much over this at lunch that neighbors were afraid to look into my cube to see if my hands were on the desk.

Look forward to reading you all on the front page!

  • http://www.erickerickson.org Erick Erickson

I laughed and laughed at this.

Leon is not just a front page contributor, he’s also a good friend and his post was most excellent.

  • Jack_Savage

And as far as I am concerned Erick, is it the button down shirts that are hampering me? The khakis all year round? Maybe if I sent Moe some birthday gifts for the kids? I can change, man, just give me chance. I can even get on the Twitter if you want me to….

  • fedsocdan
  • Bill S

You got more contributors to respond to a single post than I can remember. You gave us all a really good laugh. Now we refer to Leon as our resident liberal… BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Tbone

someone named “Harriet Miers”. Must be a history there???

  • Christine (Trelaina)

Darn shame she appears to be a drive-by commenter who doesn’t read replies.
